& thanks for  being  class. It would  have been the easiest thing  in the world to come here and gloat after totally  destroying the Browns. Our Ravens troll certainly  was yucking it up over  our debacle. That first  play  TD may have been the  most perfectly  executed  play  I've ever seen.  You guys have a Super Bowl  worthy  defense. Bosa destroyed  our Pro  Bowl  guard Bitonio.

Well,  good luck the rest of the season, its deja vu for the Browns  Sunday playing a rested Seahawk team on a short week.

Well of this you can be sure...I'll be rootin' for ya against the 'hawks.  :)

I guess you people in gay ole San Fran never got hooked on phonics, because you don't comprehend well.  I gave these shit-Brown fans credit and commended their team for a well-played game against us.  But I don't have to eat anything just because their team had one good game this year... and even though unfortunately it WAS against us, the Browns do, as you put it, have way too many arrogant fans for a team who hasn't been a contender in forever.  I wouldn't expect a niners fan to back up a ravens fan though...afterall, we are 4 and 2 against you guys, including taking away your dreams of another superbowl win not so long ago.  I have already said on here that the Ravens do have their share of problems this year that need to get corrected quickly, but I really hope you don't think when we face you later this season, you're going to beat us by 30 like you did the Browns last night.  I mean, if you do, you might be posting in the perfect forum for you...because this place is full of delusional people.

Really? Do people still talk like that?

    Moron.

My favorite thing about this thread is how you guys started it by saying how great your team is and how you expected just to tear San Fran up, and then once the game began,  it just started deteriorating pretty quickly.  The Browns have the most delusional fans I have ever seen.  You guys don't see reality, but I'm here to tell you, your team is the joke of the league.  Sure, you guys came in last week against us and executed a well prepared game plan,  but even after that game, only Cleveland fans felt the hype.  Nobody else can take you all seriously.  It would take a lot more than one well-played game for that to happen.  Then last night, the Browns got back to being the Browns.  I laughed and laughed and laughed some more.  Don't you all find it funny how, even if you pick up talented players, Cleveland doesn't know how to win.  Good teams take average players and make them good...the Browns always find a way to take good players and make them bad.  Only you guys bought into the hype that you were gonna be the team to beat, everyone else said, "It's Cleveland, no threat there".  Shit, even on the Cincinnati boards, the team that hadn't won shit, are still talking smack about you.  That should say something.    Your team is nothing but made of a bunch of losers.  I just wanted to give you heads up since you guys can't really tell what is going on.

    Niner fan here....

....thats a lot of smack for a team running a retread offense circa SF 2012 and have been exposed pretty badly. NEWSFLASH: Greg Roman is a fraud. You'll get excited until his symplistic offense gets figured out and then you will go nowhere.

There is a reason SF tried to make Kap a pocket passer. That offense doesn't work long term and will get Lamar killed. How? Eventually, teams will stop caring about giving up runs on Zone Reads by the RB and will instead blow up the QB on every single down.

Take it from someone who watched the exact same cycle with another Harbaugh and the exact same OC, Baltimore has been exposed and they don't have near the defensive talent that SF did.

Hats off Marvin. Quite the team you have.

    Thank You.

Honestly, I thought the Niners would win it, but if I told you I expected what happened last night I'd be lying. Garrett scared me.

I've been on the other side of these losses (a lot) so no smack from me.

Good luck guys on the rest of your season.

Browns vs 49ers are 19-9 throughout history.  That number is important, it shows how much the Brownies have dominated this NFC team all the way back to the days of Otto.

Next is the 49ers schedule this year. So far they've played the Buccaneers 2-3, Steelers 1-4 with a 2nd string QB and the Bengals who are 0-5. Not one of those teams is even comparable to the Browns.

Toss in Chubb, OBJ, Landry, Calloway and should mention the Baker and this game is 100% the Brownies call on how they win. I see the 49ers as over rated with this game being their first challenge.

While I'd agree that the teams the 49ers beat haven't been impressive, they can only beat the teams on their schedule. I mean look at the Pats. The combined record of the teams they have played is 5-18, and 4 of those wins were the Bills, so 1-17 otherwise.

Does that mean the Pats suck and are ripe for the plundering?

    Uh, no.

Niners had three TDs called back vs the Bucs and still won by 2 scores. Niners beat the crap out of the Bengals. The 49ers had 3 fumbles inside the Steelers 15, 2 of which were unforced. They won by 4 despite the turnovers and could have beaten them by 20+ if not for butterfingers. they had 26 1st downs to the Steelers 11. At one point in the third quarter, they had three times the Steelers yardage. Now some will say they seem to have an issue with turnovers, but they had 5 that day and only 3 in the first two games combined.

The Browns beat the 0-4 Jets and the Ravens who very nearly lost to those same Steelers with that backup QB AND their THIRD QB and it looks like the Ravens have been exposed. Even before yesterday I stated on this forum why I didn't think the Ravens were for real.

Now I'm not making a winning prediction for the Niners, but ya'll are funny sometimes.  :D

Browns vs 49ers, the record is 19 wins vs 9 losses. Add in that SF has not played a decent team all season vs the competition we've faced and I predict the game will be a blowout.

Look for Will's to run another Belicik defense on the 9ers like he did the RS and the Ravens, that will kill the 9ers run game. Our healthy secondary will start picking off whatever Garret allows Garopolo to throw, I don't expect a lot.

I foresee a very high number of turnovers by the 9ers as long as no fights break out on our side. Discipline.

OK...I've been holding out on this one....

...why do people keep quoting the all-time record as if that will have any bearing whatsoever on the outcome of this game? I mean if it were a divisional opponent you play every year I could see it....but this seems...odd.

  7. Jimmie Ward, Tevin Coleman and Dee Ford all practiced on Sat so unless there is a setback, all should play.

The Jimmie Ward one is interesting as I don't know where they plan on playing him. He plays FS and CB, but so does current FS Moore. Might see Ward get the start after Moore too some bad angles vs the Steelers.

Nick Bosa and Ward actually are off the injury list entirely for the first time all season.

The idea is to have a green roof that could be used by the fans as a park? It's cool, but I don't see it working for a baseball stadium.

Dunno. Not really an As fan so haven't been watching it that closely. As I understand it, the stsadium isn't approved yet, so still a chance they move.

Levi's BTW has a green roof over the Suite Tower. Not very bit, but I've been up there during a stadium tour. Keeps the Tower warm in winder and cool in summer.

Of older guys, Roger Craig. He keeps getting on the list every year, but never makes it.

Here are just a few trivia questions about the Browns/49ers, plus a couple of survey questions. I'm  Niner fan so might seem like cheating.  :)

1.What is the all time head to head record regular season?     Post season?

Not gonna venture a guess on that one.

    2. Name 2 QBs that lead the 49ers in passing at least one year, that also played for the Browns.

    Dilfer and Garcia

    3. Name 2 RBs that lead the 49ers in rushing at least one year, that also played for the Browns.

Carlos Hyde, dunno on the second

    4. Name a 49ers first round pick that also played for the Browns.

Ted Washington. Man, that dude was a total  bust in SF then went ahead and had a great career elswhere.

    5. The 49ers had their  first round draft picks  3 years in a row.....1950/51 and 52  make the Hall of Fame.  Name these 3 players.

This is a bit too easy, so I'll just give more clues.....one was nicknamed the Lion, the other two were members of the "Million Dollar Backfield".  :D

    6. Name a first team All Pro   Defensive back that played for both the 49ers and the Browns.

Thats a tough one. Dunno. I wanted to say Woodson, but he played in Baltimore

    Survey questions:

    1. FYI......Joe Montana and Steve Young each made the Pro Bowl the same number of times......7....and made first team All Pro the same number of times....3.   Which one, in your opinion was better?

I may bee too attached to make a good answer here. I think I'd put it this way...I think Joe was better, but my favorite 49er ever not named Frank Gore is Steve Young. A lot of that has to do with him having to deal with the Ghost of Joe and wasn't embraced for a long time in SF.

    2. The fact is, the Browns and the 49ers are the only two franchises left in the NFL that played in the AAFC.   Does that, in your mind, create any kind of rivalry between them?

Not Really. They don't play each other enough.

Haha not aggressive at all.  We aren’t soft in here anyway.

I think Browns fans will chalk it up as a win if your FB is helping on Garrett.  We’d rather deal with him on the blocking front than catching the ball out of the backfield.  Same with that Great TE.  Same with WR.  I kinda want to see a guy like Deebo Samuel wham block Garrett.  He probably ain’t the right Deebo for that job.   The old Browns would get killed by the back catching out of the backfield or the TE down the seam.  I think those areas are getting better but we haven’t had elite QUarterback play from any team we’ve faced. So if Jimmy is elite and a Target is chipping Garrett and not getting his head turned around and catching a ball- great for us

i actually said I don’t care who we played or who the Niners played.  It’s irrelevant Sunday night.  If your team totals and rankings are proof of an advantage that one team is better than the other - we are going to be in a for surprise Monday.  The Browns might be the biggest wildcard (no pun intended) in the NFL the expectations are high because the roster is talented but we saw just glimpses of it a play here and a play there the first 3 weeks.  Last week we saw probably a good half of the kind of football most expected.  What’s this week like? If it’s what we think we should do well Monday

this has a 24-20 feel to it.  The defensive lines making enough big plays to force some punts and the teams staying close to one another.

Oh one other stat I forgot to mention.

Its impressive, but also should also take into account that turnovers contribute to it:

The 49ers have had only two 3 and outs. All Season. Both were in the second half vs Pitt.

I think this is gonna be a really good game and a ton of fun to watch.

The Niner tho really need this one so I think you'll get their best. They get the Rams next week and after last night those guys are gonna play like a cornered animal. No way do they wanna go from 3-0 to 3-3.

  13. 2 hours ago, SdBacker80 said:

Does the playaction concern you less when you need to block people upfront and one of the assignments is a backup tackle taking on Garrett?  And If you are pulling help to him or any other dbl team worthy guy on our line that’s one less WR/Back you worry about.  Their offense will not run as seamless as it has in this game.

I worry more about quick hitters and our backup secondary not being confident getting in WRs grills.  3/4 yards on first down with the run and a free 8-10 yards on a pass. Great recipe for an L

You are correct in that assigning someone to double Garrett takes away option, but I think you kinda gotta know how they will help the rookie. It won't always be double teams.

It'll be chips by the FB or TE. It'll be misdirection designed to slow him down. It'll be a TE or even WR running across the formation on a "wham" type block. It will be rollouts away from Garrett. It won't be a static "ima put 2 guys on you" thing.

Despite the score, the 49ers beat the brakes off the Steelers...they just kept turning the ball over. 436-239 yardage advantage. most of that 239 was on 2 plays in the second half. The 49ers had a 26-11 first down advantage.

One of the things that has kept Garoppolo upright this year is that he was one of the quickest releases in the game. He won't just sit at the top of a 5 step drop and hope the rookie tackle can hold up. Kyles been doing this for too long. He'll empty the tool-chest. IMO, this is what is wrong with the Rams. I dunno if you will EVER see Kyle call over 60 pass plays in a game the way McVay did. He'll run the ball even down by 14.

We'll see how it works. Skule did not give up a sack in week 3 and the line only gave up 1 despite the Steelers blitzing like crazy. That same Steelers D sacked Andy Dalton EIGHT times.

I'm not into the prediction game, but I do thing there are a few of you who are not realizing what your team is up against.

"Who have the beat?". Every team in their path. Even against the Bucs who "hadn't gelled yet" as if the Niners had at that point with a QB returning from an ACL, they had THREE TDs taken off the board and still won by 2 scores.

PS: Just reread that. LOL. Didn't meant it to sound so aggressive.  :)

I think it'll be a good game. I am certainly not assuming a win with that much star power on the other side. Just think some of you, certainly not all, are underestimating your opponent.

I enjoy talking to opposing fan bases. Not smack talk, but real talk. If I'm on a Niner board its a bit of an echo chamber. I enjoy that as well, but nice to see things from the other side. I actually spend quite a bit of time on a Seahawks board. LOL.

    So....some questions for Marvin:

    A.  What are the As going to be doing about their stadium situation   (next to Tampa, it was about the worst in the league)

    B. What are Raiders fans going to do when the Raiders jump to Vegas?  Switch to the 49ers?  Continue as Raider fans (which personally think would be absurd).  Become "free agents"   Rootless with no team?

    C. The San Francisco Warriors changed their name to Golden State (ashamed to be called "Oakland"?).   Are they going to switch back?

    D. Why did they decide to call them the San Jose Sharks, instead of like the Bay Area Sharks?  (not that it does not make sense, since, apparently the do play in SJ...don't they?

    1) There is a plan to build a new stadium for the A's. Yes, the Coliseum is worse than Candlestick.

    New A's Ballpark....though I don't think its been 100% approved yet.

    OAKLAND_A_S_BALLPARK_SKYLINE_IMAGE_COURT

    2) I think for many Raider fans, they'll do the absurd. LOL. I've talked to many who are done....but I think they'll eventually move back to the Raiders just like they did in LA. What they won't be, or at least not in large numbers, is become 49er fans. They HATE all things red and gold.

    3) No, they'll remain Golden State.  :)  I think they'll actually wear different Jerseys throughout the season....Some say "The City" - Reference to SF, some say "The Town" - Reference to Oakland.....but the symbol will be the bay bridge. They want both.  :)

    golden-state-warriors-new-uniforms-2020-

    4) Can't say what the thought process was for the Sharks, but as you say, they are in fact in the SJ city limits.

Well, Gertrude Stein did say about Oakland:   There is no there, there.  But the East Bay may get a bad wrap (mostly from "West Bay-ers...not from the rest of America"   Just about a year and a half ago, I spent some time in the East Bay...and Napa (which is more geared toward the East Bay from my perception).  Plenty to see and do there...and I did those.  Did not venture over to SFO until, as I said, the day we were ready to leave and fly home...then did a quick tour around SF for a day.

Napa is a different animal. Wine country, north of the East Bay. Beautiful country up there.

    I can't lie...I'm a "West-Bayer" as you stated. LOL.

That place is just nuts. I like Levis, but Jerrys World is just crazy.Amazing what you can do with unlimited space and a nearly unlimited budget. LOL.

BTW, the Video boards at Levis (2 of them) are actually wider than the ones at Jerrys World, but not as tall. They are above either endzone. This is taken from south endzone. If you look at where the sun falls...that was why I suggested NOT sitting on the visitor sideline. LOL. The shadow of the Suite Tower covers the home sideline and fans.

    13627_TEN_49ERS_17.jpg

As for locker rooms....odd Trivia. Levi's was actually built with 4 locker rooms. Home, Away, Cheerleaders.....and RAIDERS. You read that right. It was planned with a second home locker room for use by the Raiders if they eventually became a tenant, but they would never let themselves be a tenant of the 49ers so ego drove them to Vegas. It isn't a 4th locker room now because that ship has sailed and they used for something else, but I always thought that was funny.

    1) Raiders are East Bay, across the Bay from SF.

Well...that is STILL the Bay Area, no?

That's why the symbol for the Warriors is a bridge...the Bay Bridge. It bridges SF and Oakland. Oakland has always been kinda second fiddle.....Giants over As, Niners over Raiders.

I don't think the Raiders were second fiddle to the Niners, until the arrival of Joe Montana anyway.

It doesn't help that the Raiders have now moved twice, but I'll say this, Raider fans are loyal. There are just more 49er fans.  Maybe now....not sure it was always that way...at least in the 60s/70s. But, sure I don't really know....I did not live there. I just know that in those particular years you heard squadoosh about the Niners and all about the Raiders....until, like I said, Joe Cool arrived.

    2) Kinda, but Santa Clara isn't a prairie town. Its all Tech. Google, Apple, EBay....all in the area. Its small in size, but its right in the middle of everything.

By that I just meant that it is significantly away from the core city center that the team is named for. I know that Stanford is to the north, and San Jose to the south ...and is, as you say....stuck in the middle...with you apparently.

    3) Candlestick hadn't become a warzone....it was always a warzone. The land itself that it was built on was a boondoggle. How the city got the land is a story in itself. Candlestick point is notoriously and consistently the coldest area in the entire Bay Area. It was built as a baseball stadium, and not a very good one. Then it was expanded and enclosed. It was really NEVER a good building. I loved the place myself, but it wasn't because of its charms...it was the history.

It was located at Hunter Point tho, which is the roughest neighborhood in the whole of SF. BAD Neighborhood. Levis nothing like that.

Very well....you certainly would have more knowledge of the history of the area than I would.  We only went by there because...well, it was where Candlestick Park was, and because it was basically on the way to the airport where we were going to catch a redeye home.

    4) Yup.

    1) Yes, but East Bay is a bit different in terms of fandom. They love their As and Raiders, but there are fewer of them. Oakland isn't really the center of anything anymore. Its a reason they are losing their teams. (Warriors moved back to SF, Raiders to Vegas).

Oh no....absolutely correct. Nobody was a Niner fan in the 70's. It wasn't until Walsh/Montana etc that it flipped and it really never flipped back. These days, even when the Niners are bad they are drawing twice the TV audience of the Raiders. Again tho...I will never question Raider fan loyalty. Those guy will never switch. In baseball its even worse. The As are playing MUCH better than the Giants, but most in the Bay hardly notice.

    2) Stanford is actually up the Peninsula in Palo Alto. It's between SF and SJ, so south of SF. Yes, Santa Clara is away's away from downtown SF....about 45 minutes without traffic.  :D

In the below map, Palo Alto would be Stanford and Santa Clara is just a bit Northwest from San Jose.

    map-of-california-bay-area-1.png

    3) Yeah...Hunters Point is/was bad. The sad thing tho is there used to be this moment driving up 101 where you'd round a bend and you could see Candlestick jutting out over the water. It was awesome. Its now completely gone, razed to the ground. Its kinda sad actually.

    • Gives ground against modest bulrush attempts

Miles just might have himself a game Monday nite.

...well there is a reason he was a 6th round pick. LOL. He's a lunch pail "ain't always pretty" type guy with tons of experience in the SEC.

As I've said before, they'll protect him, but he is my biggest concern. He's played one week so far and it was better than I'd anticipated, but Garrett is a different animal.
