  1. I think he's the only one still here!
  2. I don't know if it's good PR. It's definitely damage control. What is also does is spell out that the Browns picked a guy in the first round of an NFL draft...who needs rehab. Ugh.
  3. Indeed, Office Space is an all-time favorite of mine too.
  4. I'm trying to not make snap decisions and say give him time through TC and see if he improves (vastly). But if they hold onto him and don't draft another QB, and he ends up not winning the starting job next year and we roll with a newly signed veteran QB to start, I'm gonna be irritated to say the least.
  5. Found this article today: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2313809-mike-freemans-10-point-stance-johnny-manziel-channels-his-inner-eddie-haskell#articles/2313809-mike-freemans-10-point-stance-johnny-manziel-channels-his-inner-eddie-haskell Although Mr and Mrs Cleaver could see right through Eddie Haskell...
  6. If they keep JM and he turns out to be our QB of the future, you can tell me I told you so a million times. Or if they get rid of him and he's wildly successful elsewhere, ditto on that.
  7. But if he knows it's a mistake, what does he have to gain by keeping him? Just prolonging the inevitable then, right? Yes. At least we have that going for us, right? Lol. Unlike last year when Chud and company kept pushing Weeden on us over Hoyer.
  8. Should Johnny stay for the duration, I think I'll try to hang my hat on this for the off-season. "He isn't a bust, he isn't a bust. He's just not NFL ready yet!"
  9. That's exactly what they'll say. It's going on in another thread right now, but it's true any QB would struggle with this Browns team of the second half of the season. The difference is we haven't seen a thing from Johnny that shows an NFL-ready QB that's struggling. We've seen a college kid QB not-NFL-ready that's REALLY struggling.
  10. Good point Mud. Crennel is still a good D coordinator, but not good HC material. But another question...those that go nowhere after their time in Cleveland, is some of that attributed to the fact no one wanted to give them a chance after the ineptitude they showed while here? Perception can be killer. I suppose the arguement can be made those that are great would rise above that.
  11. Other teams have taken longer than 4 years to do that. So you're saying Crennel was the one exception to the stability problems? His four years was long enough? That might be true. Then a comedy of errors in hiring happened...until now. IMO.
  12. My point is the time is now to keep things as intact as possible on key staff and FO. I hope they can keep away from the dreaded 4-12 / 5-11 seasons so judgement is easy. Biggest monkey on their back right now is, of course, the QB situation. Everything else I feel confident they will have a handle on, or will address the needs accordingly.
  13. What about Crennel? Should he have been given more time than the four years he had? With that 2007 season, the stability arguement would say yes. I might have short term memory loss here when comparing, but I feel better about this staff more than any before since the '99 return. (For me, my opinion of Mangini's time here is hindsight.)
  14. Stability is key, but you have to recognize the clear misses in the change ups too. Shurmur was a bad decision and had to leave asap. Same with Banner and Lombardo. Mangini should've stayed and had more time, but Lerner screwed that up with Holmgren, who is another that you can't say should've stayed for the sake of stability. With Pettine and Farmer, now is the time to keep stability. Even if they struggle to win games for the next two+ years, as long as you see progress being made and improvement, no matter how small, stick wtih it. Might be five years yet until they make the playoffs (especially if the entire AFCN keeps up like this year). That sucks when fans are at wits end, but it's the only thing that hasn't been tried yet.
  15. I'm ok if they blow up the QB position again, but please Farmer, DO NOT give up the farm for Mariota. We need the draft picks.
  16. Right after the game was over yesterday, I was in 100% agreement about Johnny. Not Jimmy though. He's a vast improvement over Lerner Jr and has done right so far.
  17. You really think he's been royally screwed by the browns?
  18. Ditto. I really wanted to see 8-8 a lock today. I'll take it over the ravens next week. Split the division across the board, end on a win.
  19. People have to understand the anger and disappointment too. We were in the thick of a playoff run, needed our shiny new first round QB to show some flash, anything, and we got nothing. Nothing at all except the worst performance we've ever seen from a starting QB in Cleveland since the return. (Maybe Spergon Wynn but I missed that dismal performance.) If we'd lost but saw even one single brillant drive or some of the skills that JM is supposed to have (like extending plays, escapability, instead of getting sacked by a defender's single hand while he lay on the ground) there would be more positive talk. I'm sure 95% of the Browns fans here want to see him do a 180 this Sunday. Hell even a 90...or a 45... But right now we have one game that was so bad it's unbelievable. I also don't know how his situation was tougher than anyone else. Jags threw Bortles in almost immediately, he's thrown shitloads of INTs, and now he's dealing with an injury serious enough to question if he'll play this week. Manziel had 13 weeks to watch, learn, and prepare. That's nearly unheard of to have that much time for QBs in today's NFL. Sorry but I don't give him any leeway for playing SO poorly. All that being said, I sincerely hope he succeeds here, in the biggest way possible. I don't want to have to keep hanging my hat on a new QB every year.
  20. Which won't last either if he busts. Now wouldn't that be a strange motivation...Johnny works hard and plays well for the fame, not for the love of the game? I was told he's immensely competitive, but his behavior Sunday didn't show any of that.
  21. If the coaches/FO held him back this long because they knew he wasn't ready, and thought he wasn't going to be fixable...oh yeah. If Jerrah would've picked him at #16 (I think it was), then who would we have today? Bridgewater? Eh..what does it matter. As ballpeen has repeated here...We Are Johnny Football. Sigh. Do it Manziel. You don't have to win these last two games (it would be nice though), but please show us some signs of life.
  22. Agreed. But with our situation, even 2nd or 3rd round picks that we are told is our next QB to be groomed...well I'm tired of those busts too. Just tired. Damn it Hoyer why did you have to fall apart in the last month?
  23. Hell I hope so. All the wind left my sails at the moment. Really not prepared to sustain another first round QB bust. Manziel damn you don't be a bust.
