I didn't do a Monday survey because I knew this was Super Bowl week and I was going to let you all have a go at the following, which I do around Super Bowl and World Series time: I am going to list in one column items that are "representive" of one of the Super Bowl cities, and in the following column items of a similar nature representative of the other Super Bowl city. You choose which of the items you like better:

Indiana(polis) vs. New Orleans:

Horseshoes....or...Fleur de Lis

Pork Tenderoin sandwiches...or...Po Boy sandwiches

Sugar cream pie...or...King Cake

Hoosiers(the people)...or...Cajuns(the people)

The Hick from French Lick...or...Pistol Pete

"Gentlemen, start your engines"...or..."Lessez les Bon Temps Rouler"

Benjamin Harrison...or...Huey Long

John Mellenkamp...or...Harry Connick Jr.

Viveca Fox (Indy native)...or...Reese Witherspoon (N.O. native)

Brendan Fraser (Indy native)...or...John Goodman (N.O. native)

U.S.S. Indianapolis Memorial...or...U.S.S. Orleans Parish monument

Drum Corps Music...or...Jazz

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway...or...The Superdome

My own preferences:

Indiana(polis) vs. New Orleans:

Horseshoes....or...Fleur de Lis

Pork Tenderoin sandwiches...or...Po Boy sandwiches

Sugar cream pie...or...King Cake not sure what a sugar cream pie is

Hoosiers(the people)...or...Cajuns(the people)

The Hick from French Lick...or...Pistol Pete

"Gentlemen, start your engines"...or..."Lessez les Bon Temps Rouler"

Indiana Wants Me (song)...or...The Battle of New Orleans (song)

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument...or...The Andrew Jackson Statue (Jackson Square)

Benjamin Harrison...or...Huey Long (Long was too corrupt)

John Mellenkamp...or...Harry Connick Jr.

Hoosiers (movie)...or...A Streetcar Named Desire (movie I named my pets after characters in that play/movie, I have to pick it)

David Letterman (Indy native)...or...Ellen DeGeneres (N.O. native)

Viveca Fox (Indy native)...or...Reese Witherspoon (N.O. native)

Brendan Fraser (Indy native)...or...John Goodman (N.O. native)

One Day at a Time (sitcom set in Indy)...or...Frank's Place (sitcom set in N.O.)

U.S.S. Indianapolis Memorial...or...U.S.S. Orleans Parish monument

The Battle of Tippecanoe...or...The Battle of New Orleans

Drum Corps Music...or...Jazz

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway...or...The Superdome I have been to both. I don't particularly care for auto racing, but going on a tour of that track was cool. I was in the Big Dome pre-Katrina. It needed a bit of a workover and obviously it got one. I will cop out and say a tie here

Viveca Fox (Indy native)...or...Reese Witherspoon (N.O. native) I am from Indiana originally, but I can't be biased on this one.

Brendan Fraser (Indy native)...or...John Goodman (N.O. native)

I was born in Indiana and most of my family is still there, so I am a little biased. But, I am also truthful.

OK, but WTF is a Sugar Cream Pie? It is the "State Desert" or something of Indiana, but it sounds sickening sweet.

It's actually quite delicious. It tastes a lot like tiramisu.

1/3 cup flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 cups heavy cream

2 tsp vanilla

1 TBSP butter

1 unbaked pie shell

Blend together sugar, flour and salt. Stir in cream, vanilla, and butter. Pour thoroughly beaten mixture into unbaked pie shell. Bake 10 minutes at 450 degrees and then at 325 degrees for 35 minutes. Bake until the consistency of thick pudding then chill overnight. Sprinkle with nutmeg if desired.

Indiana(polis) vs. New Orleans: Indy has a really cool children's museum and the Slippery Noodle is the bomb; Though I really enjoy the Cafe du Monde and the beignets.

Horseshoes....or...Fleur de Lis

Pork Tenderloin sandwiches...or...Po Boy sandwiches Not a fan of either, but if I'm forced to pick, I guess it would be the tenderloin.

Sugar cream pie...or...King Cake I've actually never had King Cake. I was going to make one but it looked like too much trouble so I made a Hoosier Cream Pie. I hope that's not a sign.

Hoosiers(the people)...or...Cajuns(the people) No preference.

The Hick from French Lick...or...Pistol Pete

"Gentlemen, start your engines"...or..."Lessez les Bon Temps Rouler" Let the good times roll!

Indiana Wants Me (song)...or...The Battle of New Orleans (song)

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument...or...The Andrew Jackson Statue (Jackson Square)

Benjamin Harrison...or...Huey Long

John Mellenkamp...or... Harry Connick Jr.

Hoosiers (movie)...or...A Streetcar Named Desire (movie)

David Letterman (Indy native)...or...Ellen DeGeneres (N.O. native) IThey both make me laugh.

Viveca Fox (Indy native)...or...Reese Witherspoon (N.O. native)

Brendan Fraser (Indy native)...or...John Goodman (N.O. native)

One Day at a Time (sitcom set in Indy)...or...Frank's Place (sitcom set in N.O.)

U.S.S. Indianapolis Memorial...or...U.S.S. Orleans Parish monument

The Battle of Tippecanoe...or...The Battle of New Orleans

Drum Corps Music...or...Jazz

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway...or...The Superdome

I'm rooting for New Orleans to win.

Actually, a Muffuletta would have been a more appropriate sandwich selection for NO...a sub is a sun no matter the name.

A muffuletta wins hands down.

A link if you don't know what it is.

I thought about putting muffalata down as the choice, but then I thought that the po boy was just more identified with New Orleans.
