Derek Anderson | Browns | Interested: Cardinals?

The latest word out of Cleveland on the QB situation is that they're still evaluating, but it seems that Derek Anderson may be released. Anderson battled with Brady Quinn for the starting job prior to the season, and in limited duty piled up 888 yards with three TDs and 10 INTs, good for a 42.1 QB rating. Per Anderson's current contract, he's owed a $2 million roster bonus, due on March 19, and a base salary of $7.45 million for the 2010 season.

It's pretty obvious based on those stats and those financial figures that the team will either ask Anderson to restructure his deal or release him. Given the uncertainty of Quinn -- or the availability of another quality starter -- it's possible the team will retain Anderson at a reduced rate; but if no reduction occurs, it's likely he'll be cut.

If this all goes down, then consider the Cardinals as a potential suitor. That's the word from Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, who cites Anderson's youthfulness and starting experience as factors in his favor.
