Top-rated safety Berry scheduled to visit five NFL teams

Tennessee safety Eric Berry, considered the top defensive back in next month's NFL draft, has scheduled formal visits with the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a source with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday.

A source told NFL.com's Frank Tadych that Berry also will visit with the Cleveland Browns on April 7. According to Tadych's source, Berry visited with the Chiefs on Tuesday, then is scheduled to see the Redskins (Wednesday), Eagles (April 6) and Bucs (April 11).

The Eagles are the only team in that group without a top-five pick.

Berry's combination of speed, instincts, coverage ability and ball skills allows him to be a combination safety-cornerback, although he likely will play safety most of the time.

Berry suffered a sprained toe during his pro day two weeks ago, but it was a minor injury that shouldn't affect his first-round draft status. Berry sustained the toe injury during a drill run by Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

Interesting.

If this Mc Nabb deal falls out with the raiders, I wonder if the eagles will dangle one of their QB's to move up?

I would entertain the idea for Kolb, but not quite sure if Kolb is the real deal or over hyped by the media.

But we need so much help in the secondary I would hate to miss on either Berry or Haden.

The last defensive back we took in the first round was Antonio Langham in 1994 (9th).

That's pathetic.

It is, and a big reason our d has suffered most of that time.

Here is list of DB ever chosen by the Browns during the first 2 rounds, 5 in total over the last 25 years, but in the thought you have to take into account that we had either Hanford Dixon or Frank Minnifield or both playing between 1981-1992, so I guess we were not looking as much toward DB's over that period. Oh to have those days back and them guys in our defence.

Could you imagine how good they may have been had Don Rogers not offed himself? He WAS a stud back there for the short time we had him?

Note also that though here Shofner was listed as a DB, at the time in college, he was a 2 way player. He was really drafted by the Browns as a Quarterback, not a DB.
