Thaak Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I tried this about 4 or 5 years ago, but not enough people wanted to try it out. But lately, we've had enough folks doing mocks, that while we might not get the old guard into this competition, we might be able to fill it out well enough. Here's the deal. You do a 1st round Mock. You can include trades if you want (you don't have to list out what the trades were--Just what team takes what player in what spot.) The way you score: 20 points if you get the right player in the right spot with the right team. -10 points if the team you have picking a particular player does not pick that player. -2 points for each spot away from that draft spot that player goes (up or down.) So, for example: You have the Cleveland Browns picking Clausen at #7. But Clausen goes to Buffalo at #9. You would get 20 points - 10 for wrong team and -4 for 2 spots removed, for 6 points. Another example would be if the Browns traded back with San Francisco. But you had the Browns taking Clausen at #7, but San Francisco takes Clausen at #7 instead. You would get 20 points, -10 for the wrong team. But since he was taken in spot #7, you get no negative points for spot. So you would get 10 points. If you successfully mock a trade, you would get 5 points. In other words, if you said San Francisco would take Clausen at #7, you would get 20 points for Clausen going to San Francisco at the #7 spot, and +5 points for successfully guessing that San Fran would trade into the #7 spot. For 25 points. Anyone Game?

htownbrown Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 1. Rams-Bradford QB, obvious 2. Lions-Suh DT, best fit 3. Bucs-McCoy DT, even better fit 4. Skins-Okung OT, must protect the elderly 5. Chiefs-Bulaga OT, worst line in the NFL must get better 6. Bills from Hawks-Claussen QB, Bills want to be sure we don't take him 7. Browns-Berry S, OBVIOUS 8. Raiders-Pierre Paul DE, Al loves men who can do backflips 9. Hawks from Bills-Morgan DE, best end in the draft 10. Jags-E.Thomas S, they need secondary help as much as we do 11. Broncos-D.Williams DT, biggest need at this spot considering Bryant is a drama queen 12. Phins-McClain LB, perfect fit 13.49ers-Spiller RB, should feel lucky he fell this far 14. Hawks-Bryant WR, since they couldn't get Marshall 15. Giants-T.Williams OT, best value left 16. Titans-Haden CB, their biggest need 17. Pats from 49ers-Graham LB, best 3-4 guy in the draft 18. Stoolers-Iupati OL, one hell of nasty player 19. Falcons-Kindle LB, Falcons need a pass rusher 20. Texans-Jackson CB, someone has to replace Robinson 21. Striped Kittens-Gresham TE, they really need one 22. 49ers from Pats-Davis OT, the new line will be much better 23. Pack-Brown OT, Rodgers will love this 24. Eagles-Wilson CB, filling holes they created 25. Ratbirds-Odrick DT, nice fit unfortunately 26. Cards-McCourty CB, best CB left 27. Cowboys-Campbell OT, Jerry likes his combine 28. Bolts-D.Thomas WR, best value 29. Jets-Griffen DE, can't think of anything they really need 30. Vikes-Mays S, don't think they need a QB here 31. Colts-Pouncey OL, Peytons health comes first 32. Saints-Hughes LB, a little thin at that spot Side note: I could really see us trading with the eagles by them packaging players and picks if they really like Berry. Its a real stretch but I think the FO would prefer to get more picks and players. Plus they don't want to pay #7 type money once again I'm sure.

ClevelandFanForLife Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 we did this last year with different scoring. i think it was 10 points if you got the right player with the right team and 5 if you got the player in the right spot. for example, if you had mark sanchez going 5th to the browns, you got 5 points only because he wen fifth but to the jets. i think that scoring is a little better because it doesn't involve as much math with the subtraction. anyone like this scoring better?
Thaak Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Is there a cash prize for winning? Just for fun. Unless everyone wants to ante up $20.00 or something, then we can do a payout structure. If we only get like 5 guys, then 1st place pays out 100%. If we get at least 10 guys, then we could pay out 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 60/30/10.
ClevelandFanForLife Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 1. Rams-Bradford QB 2. Lions-Suh DT 3. Bucs-McCoy DT 4. Skins-Okung OT 5. Chiefs-Berry-S. it hurts me to say it, but i think that the cheifs get him. they have gone defense the past two years and i think they do it again. 6. Seahawks-Claussen- QB- pete carroll needs a qb with hasselbeck getting older. 7. Browns-Trade with 49ers who pick up haden. singleterry has a solid defense that would improve a lot more with haden. 8. Raiders-Dez Bryant- WR- the best part about mock drafting the raiders is that anybody's guess is a good one. who knows what davis will do. he likes receivers too. 9. Bills- Morgan DE, best end in the draft 10. Jags-Pierre Paul-DE- ned help on d. 11. Broncos-trade with bengals who get Baluga, OT. 12. Dolphins-McClain LB 13. Browns, from 49ers. Earl Thomas-S. we need defense badly. no surprise there. 14. Bills- T.Williams OT 15. Giants-Taylor Mays-S. Need a playmaker in the secondary. 16. Titans-Odrick DT. haynesworth leaving still hurts. 17. 49ers-Spiller- RB. 18. Steelers-Iupati OL. they need a line badly. 19. Falcons-Graham- DL 20. Texans-Jackson CB 21. Broncos- Kindle LB 22. Patriots-Matthews- RB. 23. Packers-Brown OT 24. Eagles-Wilson 25. Ravens-Pouncey- OL 26. Cards-McCourty CB 27. Cowboys-Campbell OT 28. Bolts-D.Thomas WR 29. Jets-Griffen DE 30. Vikes-Greshem-TE 31. Colts-Price- DT 32. Saints-Hughes LB

Somewhere in that range.
