JRex223
The Jets are obviously going for the big one. Santonios not that bad of a guy in my opinion and I bet you it works out tremendously. Few coaches can handle all the drama, but Rex Ryan... he loves it!, an NY kinda guy. As a Browns fan, Im pretty excited. He was a big threat on offense for the squeelers, and it certainly doesnt look good for Big Gay Ben... I dont think they'll trade him, but he'll have very few targets. They got ripped off too, only a 5? That teams falling apart... Girls, girls, girls...lol
D Bone
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Avwk...s-steelerstrade NEW YORK (AP)—A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Santonio Holmes(notes) from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a fifth-round draft pick this month. The person spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams had yet to announce the trade Sunday night. Holmes, the 2009 Super Bowl MVP, is facing a lawsuit in Florida from a woman who claims he threw a glass at her, cutting her above the eye, in an Orlando nightclub. The police also have been investigating the woman’s claims. Holmes denies hurting the woman.
htownbrown
In theory this looks great on the surface for the jets but with all the egos in the locker room shit could really hit the fan. We know BE doesn't like OSU guys and any added pressure to perform will make him possibly implode. Plus any sophmore struggles by Sanchez (who is overrated imo) could cause some TOesque drama with those divas. And one more strike by SH could mean he gets a 1 year vacation/suspension. This could be a great year for the Jets or a complete disaster if they don't reach the expectations of the fans.
Zombo
AP Source: Jets acquire WR Holmes By DENNIS WASZAK Jr., AP Sports Writer 52 minutes ago Printable View Return to Original Buzz up! 15 PrintNEW YORK (AP)—The New York Jets acquired wide receiver Santonio Holmes(notes) from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night for a fifth-round draft pick this month, according to a person familiar with the deal. The person spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams had yet to announce the trade. Holmes, the 2009 Super Bowl MVP, gives quarterback Mark Sanchez(notes) another big-time target to throw to in an offense that already had Braylon Edwards(notes), Jerricho Cotchery(notes), promising tight end Dustin Keller(notes) and recently signed running back LaDainian Tomlinson(notes). Holmes has 235 career catches for 3,835 yards and 20 touchdowns, but also brings his share of off-field issues, which could explain the relatively low price the Jets paid to get him. The 26-year-old receiver is facing a lawsuit in Florida from a woman who claims he threw a glass at her, cutting her above the eye, in an Orlando nightclub. The police also have been investigating the woman’s claims. Holmes denies hurting the woman, and a witness has since taken responsibility for tossing the glass, according to Holmes’ lawyer. In 2008, Holmes was arrested for possession of marijuana and was involved in a domestic violence incident in 2006; the misdemeanor charges were dismissed. The former first-round pick out of Ohio State caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger(notes) with 35 seconds left in regulation, leading Pittsburgh over Arizona in the Super Bowl. He caught nine passes for 131 yards in the game. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Aloj...ade&print=1 Zombo --Big Ben to Buffalo can't be that far away... next2nothing
Surprised the Steelers let him go for only a 5th. He was the fall guy. The won't release/trade Roethlisberger anytime soon so Holmes was made an example of. Plus he was an idiot. The guy tweets "Time to wake n bake" and doesn't think anything will come of it. CLEVELandMILIDH
Wow we got a 3rd, 5th, WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik for Braylon Edwards. Pittsburgh gets a 5th rounder for the superbowl MVP just a year ago. I love it, who thinks we still got fleaced in that deal? I wonder if this affects Brandon Marshall's value

choco
you mean like winning the superbowl, and the MVP tag? yeah, he sucked. its simple, you got fleeced.....and are pissed off likely every other stool fan. you got no value, and given the recent poor late round drafting habits by stool FO, you got nothing for an MVP. tell yourself whatever you have to so you can sleep at night. we all know your crying inside.... No, I was only listing WR's that I thought did very well in the NFL. Gonzo has done quite well when he's been healthy. So far Mike Jenkins has been a bust, and Robo and Ginn the jury is still out. I'd have to say that 5 of 8 or even 4 of 8 is pretty good odds you'll get a decent WR from the Buckeyes.
Vagitron
Another over rated, over hyped Ohio state suckeye reject not cutting the mustard as usual. I'll be honest. I can't believe he was unloaded for only a 5th! but it's a statement and he no doubt have more cap room. Who knows maybe they make a play for a big free agent and or Brandon Marshall. I could also see packaging picks to trade up for a Golden Tate possibly. Either way good riddance and I mean that whole heartedly. The "wake n bake" thing was/is ridiculous and within the last week reports were leaked that he wanted out of Pittsburgh and in to a larger market. He got his wish and Pittsburgh made a statement. Did I want more for Holmes, absolutely but this clearly shows the Steelers aren't going to play patsy to random acts of ridiculousness. Big Ben no doubt took notice but his a$$ has no doubt been getting grilled every since incident 2 before the effects of one wore off. I'm betting on a packaged deal to move up in the draft or maybe that actually make a play for the Pittsburgh native, Marshall. Who knows. He's a headache all on his own tho sooo

I agree with everything you say accept for Ginn! The jury is all but done on him. He is going into his fourth season and doesnt even play usually unless the phins go three wide. And the real telling tale is when hartline is getting more reps and seeing the field more than ginn. It is all about cemented in for him unless things drastically changed. We are talking about a very high first round pick here who does not see the field usually unless he is back returning kicks. Ask dolphin fans, they cannont stand him. I gotta a couple of buddys who are phins fans and they cant wait to unload him. If you askes most phins fans they would say he is a bust. If he was a brown and we spent close to a top 10 pick on him and all he was doing essentially three years later was returning kicks for us we would be calling him a bust also. I haven’t really been following his pro career. But your point brings up another interesting tidbit. Hartline is also a Buckeye.

Hartline is also a Buckeye. Hartline did surprise me last year. I thought that the dolphins really reached for him and didnt think he would amount to much in the pros. He didnt exactly set the world on fire last year as a rookie but showed a lot more than i ever imagined he would and could amount to something for them in the future. Holmes was exellent and we are gonna miss the HELL out of him. Dont tell me about Mike Wallace ...love that kid , but you dont think he thrived by being on the field lined up between Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes ??? Many Outstanding Buckeyes throughout the League ! one of the best Universities for placing Players in the NFL. And I mean "PLAYERS " !!!! I will miss Holmes , not as much as Ben will though.
