The Gipper
Here is the exact repeat of the Steeler history trivia that I did last year. Robotron, aka The Fool on the Hill, claimed that this was an impossible test because it only asked questions of complete minutiae concerning the Steelers. Well, you judge for yourself how obscure this one was. OH, by the way, on the original, a Browns fan, DumbAssWhiteGuy knew 5 answers as did Steelerfan Silverback. And SuperSteeler showed how basic this quiz was by getting 9 right. On the other hand, FreakofSteel revealed himself as a cheater. The fact is, there is really only 1 question on here that is beyond the pale because it is from a questionable source. A good Steeler fan should get a fair share of these. Let's see if Robot can do it without cheating: 1. What year did the Steelers join the NFL and what are the only franchises that have been members of the NFL longer than the Steelers? 2. According to some sources, Art Rooney was not the original owner of the Steelers. Per these sources, who was and where was he from? 3. Who suggested to the Steelers that they adopt the "Steelmark" logo that has been on their helmets since the 60s? 4. When did the Steelers play their first postseason game and what was the result? 5. When did the Steelers win their first ever postseason game? 6. Who attempted to recruit Art Rooney to play football for him? 7. What significance do Louisville, New Orleans, Latrobe, Johnstown, and Youngstown combined have in Steeler history? 8. What unusual resource did Art Rooney use at times to meet his player payroll? 9. Who was responsible for keeping the Steelers from being moved to Boston in the 40s? 10. How many losing seasons did Chuck Noll have as coach of the Steelers before having his first winning season? 11. How old was Chuck Noll when he became HC of the Steelers? How old was Cowher? How old was Tomlin? 12. Whose feat of coaching his team to the playoffs in his first 6 years as a HC did Bill Cowher match when he did that? 13. What percentage of the Steelers do Dan and Art Rooney II actually currently own?

I don't think my own father who is a life long Steeler diehard could answer more than half of those questions. I could entertain myself and make a similar quiz with Browns related questions but you too would need to use google. Totally Retarded quiz. Congratulations. lol EDIT: I'm not a Steeler historian, nor do I want to be and honestly have little reason to know the answers to any of the above. I do know the answer to maybe 5 or 6 but all 13 no way. Once again pretty awful quiz unless you want someone to use google.

Any half ass Steeler fan should get at least 4, 5, 6 of these questions and they don't have to be a "Steeler historian". Silverback did. Are you saying you are more half ass than he is? No one claims you should know all 13. It is not designed for you to get them all. Like I said, one of your boys got 9, and that is good. Like I said, I took half of them off the top of my head. You are telling me that I, a Browns fan, know far more about your team than you do? You say you can answer 5 or 6 without cheating? Do it. If you get 5 or 6 that would be good. The Gipper
Another Steelers thread on a Browns board? Aren't the Browns interesting? Why don't you try to answer the questions then. I know, too dumb. I would expect Robo to get 5 or 6. I would expect you to be lucky to get 1.
The Gipper
Again, for full disclosure, the questions I knew the answers off the top of my head were #1, #3, #4, #5, #8, #10, and #12. You come up with a Browns quiz and I will guarantee you I wouldn't cheat on it. It could be hard, and I might miss many, even most, but I wouldn't cheat. There is another board where we do a lot of trivia (usually not sports even) and I don't cheat.
Spunkonmyback DPOY
1. 1933...We were the 5th team in the NFL...The giants, cardinals, bears(?) and lions(??) were the 1st 4. 2. I've heard that before, but I believe these rumors are false. I don't know anything about this alledged original owner. 3. US Steel 4. 1947, we lost and I think by alot 5. 1972 season...Against the Raiders..The game of the "Imaculate Reception" 6. I know Rooney played semi pro football (but not sure for who), he played pro baseball for the the Greys and he was also an Olympic quality boxer....He was going to tryout for the 1920 Olympics (and from what I've heard he would have easily made the team), but declined becuase he would make more money playing football and baseball.... A family legend says my great grandfather boxed and trained with Rooney. My grandfather was 2 years older, but grew up in the same neighborhood as Rooney....I didn't answer your question, but I think I did enough BS'in for a bonus point 7. ?? We won games in all those places? 8. Bet on horse races at the Saratoga race track 9. Not entirely sure....but I know we merged with both the Cardinals and Eagles during WWII due to player and money shortages. I believe Rooney was the one who reached out to both of these teams with the purposal. So I don't think I'm entirely wrong to say Rooney gets some credit. 10. I beleive his 1st winning season was the first year he made the playoffs...So 3? 11. Noll 35, Cowher 35, Tomlin 34 12. Shula???? 13. For some reason I think all the brothers all had 12.5% ownership.. so 25% or about that... but with the recent buyout of his brothers shares, I'm not so sure

Speedyd900rr
Another Steelers thread on a Browns board? Aren't the Browns interesting? Your still here? Jesus, I went to work and went out to dinner with my girl friend just to find out you been sitting on the Browns Board for 2 days straight. Did they make sodomizing your sister illegal or something so you have nothing better to do now in pissburgh?

The Gipper
1) who has won the most Vince Lombardi Trophies? Steelers 13 titles vs. 6. Call us when you catch up. 2) What team has dominated the Browns the most in the last 30 years? Steelers It took you 30 years to catch up even on head to head wins. 3) What team was and is still king of the hill in the AFC Central and AFC North? Steelers Actually it is the Bengals who are reigning division Champs. 4) What team scares the hell out of the Browns? Steelers Actually it is the A-team starring Liam Neeson 5) What team do Browns fans talk about the most? Steelers The Browns. We only talk about the Steelers when Steeler fans come on here to The Cleveland Browns Board. By all neutral observations it is clearly the Browns that are first and foremost on your minds. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here. 6) What team has the most crybaby fans? Browns Two straight years of losing and you guys would all be rolled up in the fetal position in a catatonic state. But let's also make this observation: you, boy, are clearly to phucking dumb to answer questions about your own team. That is apparent.
The Gipper
I think he's just calling out all the trolls that have joined up in the last few weeks lol. I am calling out the trolls who clearly know nothing about the team they profess to follow. There are a few exceptions. As mentioned Silverback did a good job and made the effort. SuperSteeler knew his stuff. Maybe a couple of others. But Robotron, who brought this whole thread back has played duck duck goose. The best informed Browns fans couldn't probably get every question in a quiz of this nature right. (and to be honest with you, a lot of the Browns fans on here duck the questions about the Browns) I never expected even the good Steeler fan to get them all right. Nine right was outstanding. Five right was good. To call me out on this, and then run away with your tail between your legs is, well, you supply the adjective.
The Gipper
See, now, these are good answers, many correct or close: (but guess what, I lost my answer sheet, so I am going to have to answer you based on memory.) 1. 1933...We were the 5th team in the NFL...The giants, cardinals, bears(?) and lions(??) were the 1st 4. right year, but there were actually two other teams: Packers and Redskins. 2. I've heard that before, but I believe these rumors are false. I don't know anything about this alledged original owner. And this is the question I said I believe came from a bogus source. It was on wikipedia that a guy from "Lewis Center, Ohio" was the original owner (name lost when I lost my sheet) 3. US Steel Actually, it was Republic Steel from Cleveland that suggested that the Steelers use the US Steel logo for their helmets.! 4. 1947, we lost and I think by alot Yes, Steelers lost a playoff game to the Eagles by 21-0 5. 1972 season...Against the Raiders..The game of the "Imaculate Reception" Right 6. My grandfather was 2 years older, but grew up in the same neighborhood as Rooney....I didn't answer your question, but I think I did enough BS'in for a bonus point Good info. I give you that bonus point. The guy that was recruiting Rooney was Knute Rockne of Notre Dame, but Rooney decided to stay home at Pitt I believe. 7. ?? We won games in all those places? I don't have info on whether you won, but the Steelers did play home games in all those places. 8. Bet on horse races at the Saratoga race track Basically right. He used his winnings at the track to meet his payroll. Apparently he knew his horses. 9. Not entirely sure....but I know we merged with both the Cardinals and Eagles during WWII due to player and money shortages. I believe Rooney was the one who reached out to both of these teams with the purposal. So I don't think I'm entirely wrong to say Rooney gets some credit. It was Bert Bell, owner of the Eagles who convinced a guy named Thompson to resell his majority share back to Rooney. Thompson had purchased the majority share ownership from Rooney during that "Card-Pitt/Steagle era", and had made noises about moving the Steelers to Boston after the Redskins moved from there to DC. 10. I beleive his 1st winning season was the first year he made the playoffs...So 3? Right. 11. Noll 35, Cowher 35, Tomlin 34 Noll was 37, but the other answers are right. 12. Shula???? No, it was Shula's mentor: Paul Brown. 13. For some reason I think all the brothers all had 12.5% ownership.. so 25% or about that... but with the recent buyout of his brothers shares, I'm not so sure Last fall when I originally posted the question, Rooney only owned about 30% of the team (still the largest single percentage). There may have been some change since then with the ownership situation.
