Guest ATENEARS
I was bad on Thursday. My two sons (with the Toothless Hag) went with their mother. HagII took the others to her mothers. I popped in at my Mom's for the Thanksgiving meal, but then found an op-tune time to bolt after just a coule hours of all that family drama. I stopped at the store to get some splash for the bottle of vodka I picked up the day before, and nestled into the couch to sleep off some turkey. As I flipped through the channels, what did I find? Pink Floyd ruled the day on VH1. First it was a story on Syd Barret, followed by Roger Waters in-concert, then more background on Floyd covering the Barret/Waters/Gilmore leaderships, then the movie 'The Wall'. Glazed in front of our 50" HD set, with no kids, no Hag, just me a fridge full of beer, a bottle of vodka, various other party supplies, and Floyd ... all day. I hate to sound like a scrooge, but I had a kick-ass time blasting the theater sound, all the lights off, jamming to Waters in concert. When the Hag got home around 9:00pm, and six hours after vegging out on the couch with my Floyd-fix completely satisfied ... she just gave me one look and shook her head. I know that she was jealous. Thank-you VH1 ... it was a Happy Turkey Day. "Oh Hon, you brought home left-overs .... Oh I have the munchies so bad ... mmmmmm"
Riffer X
Sounds like a good day for you. What a story Syd Barret was huh? Man, I joke around about not enough Zoloft in the keg to watch the Browns, but in El Syd's case there was a tad bit too much blotter in the bladder. VH1 has some really cool stuff on from time to time, I just have to remember to see what's on there. I suck at TV, I need to hire an assistant to go through and DVR what I like for me. I'm actually reacquiring some lost/stolen Floyd again and trying to finish my collection. I go too long sometimes without listening to them. You don't have to be in a dorm room with a 4 foot bong to listen to Floyd you know?
Furnier
Woot! A music forum! Noice! One of my best friends (since 7th Grade) is the worlds biggest Pink Floyd fan. The dude changed his name to Syd....I shiite you not. No one but a select few who have known him as long as I have even know what his real name is. Anyway, I am well-versed in Floyd although it's been ages since I've vegged on them. It just might be time for me to break out Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma & Meddle and get really really relaxed! WVBrownsfan
Funny you bring up Floyd, this past week a guy my wife works with came in with a box of VHS tapes he was giving away. My wife picked out 4 or 5 of them and showed them to me and said I thought you'd like this one (The Wall). I was like wow, I haven't seen that since it came out in theaters about 25 years ago. Guest 88fingerslewy
You have to go out and buy the concert DVD Pulse. Also David Gilmour in concert. Instead of a synth. he has this really hot cellist in a black dress and heels. Check it out.

hoorta
I'll have to bump this thread up to the top. I'm old enough (and lucky enough- a co-worker way back when said you really need to check out Umagumma) to have seen the Floyd several times before they hit it big. Like the old Allen theater in Cleveland from the 20th row- something I'll never forget as long as I live. When Watters did "Careful with that Axe Eugene", we had to make sure we weren't dead right there. The Floyd had to tone their act down a tad after the first couple of tours- there were people tripping out, and not coming back. The reason I brought this up- thanks to the advances in technology (I've finally created virtual reality in my Home Theater rig with 7.1 sound @ 140 watts per channel) - if you want a blast from your past check out Gilmour's "Remember that Night". Blu Ray of course. Couple of guest stars, and it fortunately caught the last live tour with Richard Wright before he passed away from cancer. Besides stuff from "On an Island" they covered all the bases with the classics like "Money", "Wish you were Here", and (my life is finally complete- I can name that song on one note) "Echoes". thadagagunsab
Im with you - well, partly at least. I love Pink Floyd, but I wouldnt call animals my favorite Floyd album. Of course, itll sound cliche if I tell you which ones I like - the Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish you Were Here. Are you familiar with the Publius Enigma? Google it if you havent heard of it. Its a publicity stunt they did in the late 90s - pretty cool.
