BURRESS SHOOTS HIMSELF IN THE LEG, ACCIDENTALLY

Posted by Mike Florio on November 29, 2008, 11:05 a.m. EST

Multiple sources tell us that Giants receiver Plaxico Burress has shot himself in the leg.

Apparently, Burress was carrying a loaded gun. And the gun went off.

The incident happened on Friday night/Saturday morning. His condition currently isn’t known.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com also is reporting this one, and he’ll soon have a story up with additional details.

Though at this point the player’s health and well being is the primary concern, what the hell was he doing with a loaded gun?

It also remains to be seen whether he faces charges for carrying the loaded gun, and whether he ultimately encounters scrutiny from the league for violating the Personal Conduct Policy.

UPDATE: Glazer reports that Burress spent the night in the hospital, and that his injuries are not life threatening. Per Glazer, the team is still gathering information regarding the incident.

Ok, maybe there's someone I wouldn't trade Braylon Edwards for right now.

(Ghoolie loves that kid though!)

Apparently in an unrelated incident, Braylon Edwards tried to shoot himself in the leg but he dropped the gun and shot the family cat - animal cruelty charges are still pending.

You can take the player out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the player. Dumb thug.

LOL!

Skippy, you like this one. You know how I bought Kosar's jersey before BB cut him? Then I bought Couch's jersey before that nightmare played out? Then I bought Jamir's jersey before he blew out his achilles? Then I bought William Green's jersey after the hot finish to his rookie year?

Well, the WEEK Quinn beat Buffalo - I had a chance to buy his jersey or Kellen Winslow or Braylon Edwards. Understanding my jersey karma, I chose Braylon's Edwards because his season couldn't get any worse than it was. Is it just me or did it looked like he dropped 4 or 5 passes last week so he didn't play favorites with his QBs? The store manager said the mall was selling out of Quinn jerseys while they can't give away Braylon Edwards' jerseys.

Let's see if my karma reverses the Edwards' trend. Last week was not a good sign. Can you imagine if I bought Quinn's jersey NOT knowing the stuff about the finger yet? Well, I promise I didn't. I was thinking Joe Thomas before but I don't want to see him laying on the ground like Goliath because this knucklehead bought his jersey. If Loverboy doesn't watch out I'm gonna buy #3 and have Dumb Ass written on the upperback.

- Tom F. (Now that I think of it: Derrick Alexander had stone hands too and Leroys Hoards fumbled alot. Should we be mixing Michigan with Ohio any more?)

Only Michigan players ever to be drafted again should be on D!

Stan, I always liked PLAXICO (not PLEXICO), which is not to say even after the warrant for his arrest in Cleveland that I didn't think he was a bit of a thug or at least a loose cannon.

He makes key catches though and you have to admit, also unlike Edwards Plaxico cna often be seen with great separation between he and the defenders. I still can't believe he got so open in the SB win when EVERYONE knew the pass was coming to Plaxico.

That said, if you remember ( I got kicked out too many times to remeber if I posted it here or on Navs board) I was very high on Braylon Edwards, and given the choice at the time of taking Braylon or trading for Plax, because of upside and age I would have taken Edwards.

I believe I also posted that if it were me in charge I would keep throwing to the dumb ass until he finally started catching the ball.

There is some combination of heart and focus that Edwards is lacking.

As for Plaxico, I carry a gun as well, legally, but I have no idea how one can just go off, other than if it is Don Knotts or some shit like that. Hey, Plaxico just likes to cathc things, footballs, warrents, and now, bullets.

What a dumb shit.

Well let's see...one in the chamber; saftey off and jammed down your britches ready to 'kick some ass'...what a complete fool

His time in Pittshole ingrained the stupid into him pretty deeply. You can take the douchebag out of Pittsburgh, but you can't take the Pittsburgh out of the douchebag.

I watched the Browns show with Sam Rutigliano. And it sounded like the old coach has given this 'droppsies' issue with Braylon some serious though. Sam started off reminding everyone that he coached the WR for most of his career. He said that he called former players from the WR position to get their opinion. He mentioned that Braylon ain't watching the ball out of the QB's hands. Sounded like Sam was stating that Braylon wasa spending too long coming out of his move (and the ball was upon him before he knew it). Same chalked it all up (no matter what the excuse or sympton) to a lack on concentration. It sounded like he favored to keep getting BE the ball until he catches his way out of it, but it also sounded as if Sam was disgusted and would have probably moved-on to sitting Edwards by now.

I think our pass patterns suck. Both Winslow & Edwards seem to spend twice as long losing a defender (if you can call it that with either). But Heiden and Joe J know how to find seems, and when Stallworth is in, he seems to be forgotton about at thjis crossing underneith. Edwards & Winslow can't handle the focus on them.

I think a big part of the stink in all of this is that we know down deep the guy still has a lot of upside. He pisses me off but it would piss me off more to see him finally getting it together wearing different colors. Andersen certainly adhered to the philosophy of "keep throwing until he gets it" attitude.

Ok, it's late, my Mom and I went to the track/casino tonight and then looked at old home movies. I have a couple nice shots of JB, Kanicki, Costello and a few others on 8 MM. Also a lot of goofy pics of me when I was 13 - 16. How the hell did I ever turn out to be such a stud?

Pretty dumb post, furburger. This actually underscores the type of organization it takes to win consistently in the NFL. The Steelers didn't let Plaxico go because he wasn't talented...it was obvious all along that he's loaded with ability. It was because he was a ticking "character issues" time-bomb. It's easy to be blinded by pure talent, as so many owners and GMs are. Look at Jerry Jones, Al Davis, etc., etc. They may get lucky in some cases taking on the me-first prima-donnas, but in the long run it usually blows up in their faces.

For the life of me I do not remember the military teaching me to store a loaded weapon in my pants....hmmmmm

I agree....and even then, how do you get it to go off unless you have it cocked and the safety off or somehow pull the hammer on a revolver.

His story is a load of crap....he was dicking around like a goof or some chick popped him because he was banging some other girl.
