WPB Dawg Fan
Looks like the Browns are looking to former TB QB Bruce Gradkowski: Browns interested in Gradkowski December 1, 2008 7:30 PM Posted by ESPN.com's James Walker Gradkowski CLEVELAND -- Earlier Monday we wrote that the Cleveland Browns were in search of a veteran quarterback. This evening we learned the team is interested in at least one former signal caller with starting experience. The Browns will work out former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Bruce Gradkowski Tuesday at their training facility in Berea, Ohio, agent Ralph Cindrich confirmed. Gradkowski has played in 17 career games for the Bucs before being released last May. Cleveland lost two quarterbacks in two weeks as starters Brady Quinn (finger) and Derek Anderson (knee) both suffered season-ending injuries. It is unknown if Gradkowski is the only quarterback the Browns (4-8) will work out Tuesday, but he is probably among the most well-known signal callers left on the street this late in the season. Whoever is signed this week would backup Ken Dorsey in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans (11-1).

Guest mz.
Polish Rifle 2.0 strikes me as very DA-ish. All arm, no brain, but a servicable backup. What is it with the infatuation with "local players" here (Gradkowski played at Toledo?)???
Guest ATENEARS
Wow, I forgot all about this kid. Guest Aloysius
Polish Rifle 2.0 strikes me as very DA-ish. All arm, no brain, but a servicable backup. Actually, his arm strength isn't so hot - one of the reasons he floundered in Tampa was that teams realized they didn't have to worry about him throwing long. But he's a good short to medium range passer with very good athleticism (4.59 40). If anything, it gives some more credence to Shep's call for us to transition to a WCO. We'd only be interested in Gradkowski, it seems, if we were considering switching to that type of offense.

As always, I defer to you, Alo. Guess his 5.06 YPA in '06 wasn't really scaring anybody... Question: if his arm strength is questionable, then why the heck are they calling him the Polish 'Rifle'? 'Popgun' at least utilizes alliteration.
Guest ATENEARS
I was watching old toledo video and it appeared he had to majorly step into every throw to get it down field. Almost a Punt-Pass-and-Kick type run to the line then heave. He's also fumbled 11 times in 11 starts, with 9 INT's in 13 games played (9 TD's). ... at least the Boo's will sound a bit like 'Brruuuuuuuce'

Apparently, he's got very small hands (8 7/8"), which may be why he has trouble holding onto the football.

Guest ATENEARS
Gradkowski's a Brown Browns add veteran quarterback; Quinn to have surgery By Marla Ridenour Beacon Journal sports writer POSTED: 02:58 p.m. EST, Dec 02, 2008 The Browns signed veteran quarterback Bruce Gradkowski today, putting starter Derek Anderson on the injured reserve list with a torn knee ligament. Gradkowski, a University of Toledo product, was released Aug. 31 by the St. Louis Rams after a training-camp tryout. He played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006 and 2007, starting 11 games. He is 190-of-352 for 1,791 passing yards in his career, including nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His passer rating is 65.0 He probably will be the third quarterback for the game Sunday against the Titans (11-1) in Tennessee. Ken Dorsey will start, and receiver-returner Joshua Cribbs will be his backup. The Browns also announced that quarterback Brady Quinn will undergo surgery on his fractured right index finger Wednesday in Alabama. The operation will be performed by Dr. Thomas Hunt. The recovery time is expected to be six to 10 weeks. Quinn, who is already on the injured list and out for the season, was hurt Nov. 17 against the Buffalo Bills, and his finger suffered further damage when he played in the next game against the Houston Texans. Anderson, also out for the season, tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee late in the loss Sunday to Indianapolis Colts. He will not need surgery. Anderson, due a $5 million roster bonus in March, may have played his last game for the Browns. The team was expected to choose between him and Quinn before then and trade the other. That plan might have been compromised by Quinn's injury. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marla Ridenour can be reached at mridenour@thebeaconjournal.com. Guest ATENEARS
Browns also re-signed WR Steve Sanders to the practice squad... Ahhh ... that really ticked me off that they released him (multiple times this season), he should have been given some opportunities to crack this rinky-dink WR corp. Now, let's line-up the following (listed by depth order) QB - Dorsey/Gradkowski RB - Wright/Harrison/Lewis WR - Braylon/Sanders/Stallworth/Steptoe TE - Rucker/Heiden FB - Vickers/Ali Everyone (except maybe Braylon) is hungry to play. They might not be World beaters, but they will give it their all. Man, this season is long.

ITHIKA
http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=9227 Gradkowski signed; Anderson to IR Zac Jackson, Staff Writer 12.02.2008 The Browns needed just one day to find a veteran quarterback and add him to the roster. The team signed Bruce Gradkowski Tuesday. A record-smashing quarterback at the University of Toledo, Gradkowski played his first two NFL seasons with Tampa Bay and went to training camp this year with St. Louis. He started 11 games for the Bucs in his rookie season in 2006, throwing for 1,661 yards and 9 touchdowns. He made four appearances last season before being waived this June. A native of Pittsburgh, Gradkowski threw for over 9,000 yards at Toledo and left as the NCAA's all-time leader in career completion percentage (68.2). He was a sixth-round pick of Tampa Bay in 2006. The Browns placed Derek Anderson on injured-reserve Tuesday and also made a practice squad move, re-signing Steve Sanders and releasing offensive lineman Travis Leffew. Sanders began the year on the active roster and played in five games with one reception for 18 yards.Leffew spent the last ten weeks on the Browns practice squad. rich4eagle
Well, I am not endorsing him as a franchise QB..........but Brady has been a billion dollar choker his whole career............I wuz thinking to use a 3/4 pick on him a few years ago I made three pleas to this dysfunctional ill managed team since 2004 ...........get Ben...............or get Rivers.............. and then get Rivers or Brees we blew it on all fronts but thanks for interest in getting a franchise QB..............instead of a choker who cost a one and two pick your cool mz the pussy keep up the good work it is fun reading from who actually thinks before knowing the answers
