playerjdd
Here are a few notes from Training Camp this morning from Rapid Reports on Sportsline: 7:55 pm The Browns have to be encouraged with Josh Cribbs' work at WR today. He has made several catches in traffic, including one with LB Ray Ventrone and S Mike Adams draped all over him. 7:24 pm A bomb from Jake Delhomme to WR Mohammed Massaquoi elicited a huge roar from Browns fans. Massaquoi is the most likely candidate to give the team a badly needed 1,000-yard receiver this season. 6:59 pm Browns QB Seneca Wallace has picked up where he left off this morning. His passes are again crisp and on point. 6:58 pm Browns new TE Benjamin Watson just made a move unseen from 2009 starter Robert Royal, faking out LB David Bowens for a TD in 1-on-1 drills. Watson could be one of the team's top receivers this year. 6:57 pm Browns new TE Benjamin Watson just made a move unseen from 2009 starter Robert Royal, faking out LB David Bowens for a TD in 1-on-1 drills. Watson could be one of the team's top receivers this year. 6:09 pm Though rookie CB Joe Haden reportedly signed today, he has yet to arrive on the field as the Browns start their evening session. 3:30 pm Browns rookie CB Joe Haden was still a holdout when the Browns opened camp this morning --- but no longer. The first-round pick just signed a five-year, $50 million contract with $26 million guaranteed and could report in time for the evening practice.12:22 pm Expected starter at RT Tony Pashos missed the first day of Browns training camp today with a cold. 12:18 pm Browns coach Eric Mangini on the now-official holdout of rookie CB and first-round pick Joe Haden: “He can’t get these days back. It’s unfortunate. He’ll have to come in and spend extra time outside of practice to get where the other guys are.” 12:16 pm Rookie Montario Hardesty twisted his knee during rookie practices a couple days ago, which explains his absence today. Browns coach Eric Mangini said he’ll be out for about two weeks, which might affect his drive to beat out Jerome Harrison as the featured RB. 11:27 am A capacity crowd of 3,500 - and then some - showed up to the first day of Browns training camp today. Fans were stopped at the gate and were allowed in only when others departed. 11:21 am Browns Pro Bowl KR Josh Cribbs on deciding to stay in Cleveland while hoops superstar LeBron James bolted for Miami: "It's the fans. If anyone asks me what Cleveland has to offer, I say they have the most diehard fans ever." 11:19 am Seneca Wallace didn't throw today like a QB who feels destined to be Jake Delhomme 's backup. "I'm striving to push him," he said. "Even if they're saying he's the starter, I've got to push him." 11:13 am Browns LB Matt Roth had asked to be traded early in the offseason, but was all smiles today. "That's in the past," he said. "I'm happy to be here." Roth was a revelation in 2009 as one of the team's premier pass-rushers.10:24 am The Browns' plans for RB Peyton Hillis is already quite apparent. He's catching a number of balls out of the backfield. 10:18 am CBs Eric Wright and Sheldon Brown and safeties T.J. Ward and Abram Elam are working with the first team. S Mike Adams is in the mix, but is playing with the second-teamers today. 10:16 am The most impressive Browns QB today has easily been Seneca Wallace, who has been right on target with his short and deep throws. 10:11 am Browns rookie RB Montario Hardesty, who signed early this week, is nowhere to be found. He is expected to battle Jerome Harrison for the featured back spot. 10:08 am Browns RT Tony Pashos is ill and sidelined today. The expected starter at that spot is being spelled by Floyd Womack with the first-teamers. 10:03 am Chansi Stuckey is getting first-team reps over Josh Cribbs today. Both will fight for the Browns second WR spot alongside Mohamed Massaquoi. 9:44 am Browns ILB D'Qwell Jackson, who is in a mad scramble for a starting spot, received loud kudos from his defensive teammates by clobbering RB Peyton Hillis in 1-on-1 drills. 9:35 am Both Jake Delhomme and backup Seneca Wallace are hitting their targets in stride in passing drills. Accuracy was a huge problem for the now-departed Browns QBs last season. 9:24 am Offseason acquisition Peyton Hillis missed much of OTAs with an undisclosed illness, but the Browns' RB is here for the start of camp. Hillis will likely battle for time in short-yardage and passing situations. 9:17 am The Browns are already prepared to hit. They are in full pads this morning. 8:58 am Rookie CB Joe Haden is the lone holdout as the Browns open camp today. Negotiations with the first-round pick are in full swing and he's expected in soon. Cleveland Browns running back Montario Hardesty will miss a few weeks with a twisted knee Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer CLEVELAND -- Browns running back Montario Hardesty will miss at least few weeks with a twisted knee suffered a few days ago in the rookie portion of training camp, coach Eric Mangini said. Hardesty, who was injury-prone at Tennessee, was expected to give Jerome Harrison a tough battle for the starting job. Hardesty spent the opening session of training camp working inside the building. He looked solid in minicamps and organized team activities and the coaches were excited to see what he could do with pads on. Training camp is only open to the public through Aug. 19, so fans coming out might not get a chance to see much of him. Harrison, who rushed for 561 yards over the final three games of last season, took the initial first-team reps of camp Saturday morning. Peyton Hillis and Chris Jennings also got more reps at tailback.

(sarcasm) He basically just gave Harrison the starting job...hopefully he will heal quick so he doesn't miss too much.

Sounds like that footage might hve been shot from the opposite side of the complex, so it will be good to view things on that end. I'm heading back to camp in an hour or so and will have more reports later on this evening, after a meal and some beers following the 1-3pm session. And if so why he isn't seeing carries? I don't understand why Jennings is getting the time. That guy does not impress me at all! Davis did impress last year even though it was in the preseason. Note to Mangini "If Davis is healthy get him some damn reps."
