BrownIndian
LATROBE, Pa. (AP)—For Ben Roethlisberger(notes), there really is no place like home. In his Steelers biography, Roethlisberger now lists his birthplace as the fictitious and the incorrectly spelled Corey Rawson, Ohio. There is no such community, although he did attend Cory-Rawson School in Rawson, Ohio, before his junior high days. Roethlisberger apparently made the change because he was displeased with unflattering comments made about him by some residents of hometown Findlay, Ohio, following a March incident in which he was accused of sexual assault. He was not charged, but drew a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Until this season, Roethlisberger identified Findlay as his hometown. FROM: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-r...berger-hometown This seems to me to be very much a display of immaturity and juvenile petulance. I guess the question is : what is considered to be one's "home town"? The town you were born in? The town you grew up in? The town you graduated High School from? Whatever town you choose to call your home town even if you had little affiliation with it? The town you live in as an adult?

FROM: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-r...berger-hometown so much for the bull crap statement THAT SOMEONE WROTE FOR BEN TO READ OFF OF A PIECE OF PAPER, where he said he's ashamed of his wrong doings and is trying to become a better person and role model for children. if he was really sorry for what he's done, he wouldn't disown his hometown for lashing out at his dirty ways. he would be totally concentrated on redeeming himself and winning back those that he's let down (including his hometown who rooted for him until he went sexual predator). this is proof that ben's STILL a damn dirt bag. this just goes to show how much of a phony he is. he isn't sorry for what he did, he's sorry that he got caught. one week he has a devil t-shirt on while locking a drunk out of her mind girl in a bathroom, the next week he's reading some script about being sorry, being a role model and God bless everyone. ben has a long history of being a serial sexual predator, dating all the way back to his college days (and maybe even before then). he always targeted certain kinds of women. just because a woman is dingy, a groupie or a gold digger doesn't give a man the right to get them damn near blacked out drunk so he can take advantage of them. ben shouldn't disown his hometown, he should disown his own sick, perverted ways. that's what a real man would do. how can he get mad at people for not liking his foul behavior? don't be mad at people for attacking your dirty ways, be mad at your damn self, ya f*ckin weirdo. Yes, it is like I ranted about in another thread: Football/basketball/baseball are team games, not individual sports like golf and tennis. You root for a team. Its like, yes, I like LeBron James as a basketball player (though I always knew he was a bit of a jerk seeing that my nephew went through 6 years of school with him), one of the greatest ever probably, but I sure the hell am not going to root for some other team now that he has gone there. I am rooting for the Cavs. A person who comes from the same town as LeBron or BR can certainly like that player, but I am sure the F*** not going to root for another team just because he plays there. Bo Schembechler came from the very town I am sitting in right now, the same town I was born in. And he was a hell of a man and a hell of a coach, but; did that mean I was going to go root for Michigan because he coached there? EFFF NO! And well said: if you ain't wearing my home team's home colors, while I may still like and respect you, I ain't rooting for you.

I sure the WHOLE TOWN statement was an exaggeration, but there are also many fans of football who aren't die hard fans like you find on this board. I could definately see how many of those fair weather fans could have easily started rooting for the Steelers and made life a little more annoying in Findley. Look at all of the Cavs fans that came out of the woodwork once Lebron started playing for the Cavs. I grew up in Canton and I can tell you that there were many more Cavs fans since Lebron then there were before. Not saying that I like these types of fans but I am at least willing to realize that they are out there.

Not saying that I like these types of fans but I am at least willing to realize that they are out there. I feel like I have to defend my old home turf a little bit. I dont think it was even the fair weather fans that gave the impretion that Findlay was all of a sudden a squellers town. If you drove through town after Ben was drafted you mostly saw businesses jumping on the band wagon. Like signs and banners on the bars near the colleges proclaiming that "Ben was here" they were just trying to capitalize on the fact that the town now had a celebrity. Their first one I might add. Havent been there for about a year but I would be willing to bet those signs arent there anymore. While Im on the subject of businesses jumping on the wagon the last game I came up for I went to a K Mart in middleberg Heights to buy a pair of gloves. I was pissed off to see their gear split about 50/50 Browns and squellers. Again just someone trying to capitalize on someones sucess. Looking forward to the near future when the only stuff available in C town will be all Browns. Mt Cory and Rawson consolidated years ago to form Cory Rawson School. They constantly kicked my schools ass for the last 40 yrs ( Vanlue H.S. was and still is the smallest school in Ohio to field a football team). Go Browns. See everyone in September. I've ripped apart that entire scenario. I can argue the point until the cows come home but 9 times out of 10 it falls on deaf ears because he plays for the Steelers and this is a Browns message board. Just use the search engine. I'm sure you can dig up my arguments. Oh and the world championships line is hilarious? Less teams, less skilled athletes. Some World Championship. Fact of the matter is Ben wasn't convicted nor should he have been. The girl in question was/is ridiculous and her ridiculousness is the reason nothing transpired. She changed her story several times and it's the reason the DA through it out. That and zero circumstantial evidence and the last I checked we live in a world that built it's foundation on "innocent until proven guilty" and proof was not provided. He's working to build back his reputation. He's in the best shape of his career, doing everything and more to get back on track and deserves a second chance. The fact that he's a winner, a top 5 QB and has two championships before he's 28 speaks volumes about his ability on the field. Should we start talking about Donte Stallworth? Shaun Rogers? Smith? Most recently Lawson. I can certainly continue down that path. Sleezbag? what because I'm not a damn idiot? R.Dawg

T.Dawg The girl in question was acting like a slut hence the "DTF" name tags. According to every eye witness report which is now public record she was ALL OVER Ben all night. Following him from bar to bar. She and he did whatever they did and in poor taste but based on all the circumstantial evidence he didn't rape the girl in question. Her sorority sisters obviously caught wind of what went down and drew up a plan to save face. THe girls story changed 5 different times, also of public record and once again zero evidence. I won't deny that Big Ben was a dip sh.it dick thinker but he's no rapist. As far as my sister is concerned she turned Big Ben down. Yes he did actually have his entourage try and corral her in to his congregation of females and friends. She told the guy in question "If Ben wants to talk to me, he can come over and talk to me, otherwise I'm not interested in being a part of the meat wagon" True story. Fact of the matter is I piss more intelligence than you every morning. You can't put together a damn paragraph properly, hate the Steelers and certainly didn't take the time to read anything about the case outside what you've heard in your Retard circles. The case and the "evidence" or lack thereof is public record FYI. You can actually go and read everything for yourself and see exactly why a conviction never occurred and for good reason. If the DA says there is no case why would anyone have to pay of anyone? There isn't anything to prosecute on, unless of course you feel the DA was bought and then the girl and the girls family. If that's the case I'll mail you some tin foil and a set up jumper cables. Make yourself a hat and hook yourself up to the hoopty in your drive way. Are people really this dumb? Don't talk about regressing to a 3rd grade level, most of this message board resides within that mental capacity. As far as Ben is concerned who cares. His hometown had some people that didn't have anything nice to say. As a hometown you would think the benefit of the doubt would be provided especially if his parents still live in Findlay. I don't know if they do. It's no worse than Kellen Winslow calling himself a "soldier" I'd disown my hometown too if individuals of prominence had a bunch of stupid, unfounded sh.it to say. I'd wager most people would do the same. I thought you guys didn't want to talk Steelers around here? Yet day after day a new one pops up. Talking about us won't change your luck.
