THE BROWNS BOARD

If We Don't Beat Carolina........

this post is not meant to bring anyone down during this holiday week because i thoroughly expect the browns to beat the panthers, a team that has basically given up on their coach. BUT as we all know there are trap games out there and on any given sunday.................

if we were to lose to the lowly panthers do you think holmgren would pull the trigger and get rid of one of coaches OR wait to the end of the year? i'm totally behind mangini and his staff but if we can't put up enough points to beat this team (which most pundits consider to be the worse in the league) then the 'fire daboll' naysayers could gain another in their cause because there should be no excuse to lose this game.

also: please don't start jake even if he IS healthy. that would give the panthers something to play for.

I never want to lose. But I wouldnt mind seeing us having a poor record at end of season. Give us some good picks in draft. Holmgren is great at picking talent. Hopefully get one or two more offensive weapons for Colt.

We wont lose this game unless colt isnt in it, but even if colt isnt in it and we do lose big, i believe holmgren after punching tables and kicking walls and thinking about firing people cools down and moves on, mangini and dabs are likely safe at least until the end of the season...

Holmgren is a big plush teddy bear and would not consider firing a coach or even a shitty coordinator this far into the season, he will keep his word for better or for worse..

And tom who? This guy is the almost invisible man!

Holmgren should check to make sure that mangini lets heckert out of his office at least once a week! ;)

I doubt it.

At this point, why???

i could see some type of fallout if we lose in the last minute of the game like we have in the last couple of weeks. IMO that was due to not being able to sustain drives in the second half and having our D on the field for too long.

i don't want to see any of the staff get fired.....but there has to be some type of repercussions if this happens again. it would be too frequent and would show an inability to make adjustments.

agreed, this season is already down the "shitter." clearly, we will try win as many games as possible, but it would be nice to get a couple of good draft picks. When worst comes to worse, maybe we can finish up around 7-9 and get a high to mid draft pick.

I would never want my team to lose. No draft pick can make me say, "I want a poor record." I want my team to win every game, no matter what the record.

Mangini is 7-7 in the last 14 regular season games. There has been marked improvment in this years team. The Brown's have shown up and competed every week despite being deficient in several key areas

including wide receivers and a running back to complement Hillis (where the hell has Bell been?) Mangini has stuck to his basic long term strategy of developing a core group of players who may be average in

ability but lay in all on the line each Sunday. Given the opportunity to supplement his team with a few skill players, the sky is the limit IMO. Barring a complete season ending melt down, Coach M will have

earned the oppportunity to finish what he started.

Hell Yea! Who in their right mind wants to pay hundreds of dollars, time and effort and planning to go see your team kick butt only to find out everybody is to lay down like roadkill and lose so we can "maybe", "hopefully" find gold in the draft. That Let's Lose mentality is fk up. Nothing is better than winning (That's why they play the game)

You've got to be kidding. We have had number one draft picks up ass and it hasn't really helped. You play to win, you don't play to get the number one pick. End of story.

This doesn't mean anything. you can say 0-2 in last 2 games or 2-2 last 4 games or 3-7 on the year. 7-19 career with the Browns is all that really matters.

Everyone is back to the we don't have talent and shouldn't expect to win mentality again. Talent is overrated! Cincy has a ton of talent and the stink. The NE and NO games were great but teams that are heading in the right direction don't blow leads the way the Browns do.

I am a converted Mangini fan. I hated him at first but now believe in him. We need to give him a chance. That being said, if we lose, I wouldn't be upset is he was fired. There is no excuse to lose to Carolina at home. It would signal that the schemes aren't working.

Hope you mean Winning is the only thing. I would'nt want to lose to the Panthers or anybody else for a roll-of-the-dice draft pick.

no i meaning it's all about losing and getting high draft picks. hell no. I dont pay $180 for NFL Sunday Ticket to watch the Browns lose on purpose lol. If you don't want to win, don't play. When it's all over, you W column is the most important thing. Wins > Losses, Wins > Stats, Wins > Trash Talk.

I hate when people say play for the draft pick. You play to win! Besides, check our draft history since 1999. Our track record hasn't been too good. It's getting better, and will get better still with a credible front office now in place. That said, I still support Mangini, and I hope Holmgren keeps him. We need to stop blowing it up every 3-4 years and starting over. Furthermore, this is the first year that Mangini, Holmgren and Heckert have worked together. One thing you can say is that while the Browns are 3-7, they're fun to watch again, and have been in every game! I think Mangini has done all right with what he has had to work with, as there are still some holes that need to be filled.

Good choice of words, especially for a Brown fan.

What the Hell is wrong with you Pennsyltucky people? Are you that freakin' bored in your miserable lives over there that you have to constantly obsess over us Browns fans! We must really be in "yinz" heads for "yinz" to continue to post your bullshit over here!

Why on earth would we lose to Carolina?

Zombo

you see z, in football a team is encouraged to score puts three different ways: 1: through what it called a "touchdown". it is worth 6 points and then you have the opportunity to kick and "extra point" or try a "two-point conversion". you are free to do either one. 2: you may also go for three points via a field goal or drop kick. 3: you may get the chance to get a "safety" which is worth 2. whichever team scored more points wins the game. hope this helps :)

If you're drafting in the top 10 every year like we do, your high draft picks aren't doing a whole lot for you obviously. I'd much prefer to rip off 5-6 more wins than play for a higher draft pick. Heckert will find his guys regardless of where we draft. The Eagles rarely picked early and he managed to find a load of excellent later picks for them.

bump.

o.k. you can put the gun down now.

geez. i was hoping for a smackdown like the patriots game but i'm sweating the score AGAIN with 2 minutes left. hey i'm proud of the browns this year, they're playing with heart and a lot of guts. BUT c'mon the panthers? get up and punch the punks and move on. next!

if not for a fg kicker shanking the kick we'd all be screaming for heads to roll right now.
