thehammer
Jackson is a stud WR who will be available in free agency ( if there is a new CBA of course) and would be the downfield weapon the Browns need. I think he would be a great fit
WRREBEL
As long as the browns paid him and there are plenty of bars in cleveland, I can't see why not
BROWNandORANGE
I would rather draft a young, hard working rookie than pick up a free agent who just held out 10 weeks.
medicineman
I would prefer a vet. I don't want to hear about a rookie who needs more time

shepwrite
I think the bridge is burned between the Chargers and VJ. He's an amazing talent -- big, fast, strong, great vert, fights for the ball, plays nasty. He's the whole package. The Browns absolutely need a right-now player AND a high draft pick at WR. They'll get two, not one. A lot of people think Massoqoui would be a great slot receiver if we had two new starters (Jackson and Julio, for instance). WRREBEL
We probably won't draft aj green since he sold his jersey.. Our franchise is gaying it up by not being able to handle personalities
shepwrite
That's a Mangini thing, not a Holmgren-Heckert thing. They'd bring in Jackson in a heartbeat at the right price. Kosar went on and on about Jax being able to cover our outside WRs man to man and leave 9 guys to trash the run. Not good.
cambridgeho
If we get Jackson it would be a great addition. He can stretch a d more than anyone we have now. Plus he is good now, not 2 years down the road. Please don't forget about the wr we have that got hurt, Johnathan haggerty. He was on his way to being a starter as a non drafted fa. Dump robo, get what we can for Cribbs and get Jackson. Use our first pick on d line, then get out wr in the late first or second.

Earl34
I disagree with it "being a Mangini thing" and not a "Holmgren-Heckert" thing. When Tom Heckert was in Philly, he learned his lesson with TO. He never played ball with the whiners who wanted contracts and were troublemakers. I don't think that Vincent Jackson would be welcome here but when you think about it, the WR position may be the one position they may have to make an exception. Before you cry about the Browns "not being able to handle personalities" realize that the "personalities" they got rid of were locker room cancers. They kept Shaun Rogers who had a rift with Mangini when he first arrived. They patched it up enough to co-exist. If you want to cry about not being able to keep talented but troubling personalities, go to the Broncos' board where their head coach has run every legit player out of town because they were "someone else's guys". DeSean Jackson slid on draft day because teams were concerned about his character. Heckert & the Eagles took a gamble on him, and it's worked out extremely well. Alo
Please don't forget about the wr we have that got hurt, Johnathan haggerty. He was on his way to being a starter as a non drafted fa. According to Wikipedia, the Browns reached an injury settlement with Haggerty, making him a free agent. I haven't been able to find an article confirming that, but it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for an injured undrafted free agent.
Hoss
I don't see a guy who is one strike away from a 1 year suspension as an ideal FA signing. He didn't get hit once, or twice. His current suspension was his third strike, and now if he has a 4th he is looking at one year. He is no doubt a fine WR, but unless we have a proven #1 that he compliments, and he wasn't sorely missed if he got suspended, sure. But our marquee #1 with his suspension history? No way. I have read a lot of press conferences with both Mike and Tom, and they're pretty much in agreement with the character guys Mangini likes. Can you point me to the discussion where Mike and Tom would be willing to sign a guy with multiple problems because of late night drinking, and his next suspension is for 1 year, onto this roster? This isn't a Mangini thing.

You have to do your homework, but I don't get the sense the H2 are quite as character obsessed as Mangini. At some point, you start letting the tail wag the dog and have the most honorable 8-8 team in football... which isn't the actual objective. Despite this growing sentiment in a few of the members here this is not how it is at all. The proper way to build a team is to load up on "locker room" type guys, and then bring in the assholes. Its the way the eagles, patriots, colts, steelers, saints, and every other team that has ever won a champioship have done it. With savage and crennel we had all the ego superstar players, and it didnt work. Weve tried this already with this team how soon you forget. We have the locker room in place. Next season we will have a vincent jackson type or three, and it will work out this time because things are finally being done the right way. pizzadeliveryguy
Why do you guys assume that Jackson is a locker room cancer? From all reports that I have seen, he is a very hard worker and most of the players on his team love him. I also wouldn't hold his holdout against him because of A.J. Smith being a huge baby. However, his legal troubles are worrisome but you could probably work a clause into the contract to combat a suspension.
