Here are my own thoughts:

1. As we are nearing the end of 2010 tell us who you think gave the top 5 sports performances of the year.

No particular order: A. Drew Brees in his Super Bowl performance. B. Cam Newton's performance this year C. Tom Brady's performance SINCE the Browns manhandled him earlier D. The Butler basketball team E. The SF Giants for winning their first title since 1954. Bonus choice: both the USA and Canadian Hockey teams in the Olympics for a great competition.

2. Alternatively tell who you think were the Top 5 Douchebags of sports in 2010.

A. LeBron James for being a boor B. Ben Roethlisberger. You can't get accused of rape and not be considered a douchebag C. Lawrence Taylor. See the previous comment D. Gilbert Arenas. When did the signs above NBA Locker rooms read "OK Corral"? D. Albert Haynesworth is a good choice as well

3. As long as we are doing Top 5s, and this being Pearl Harbor Day, tell what you think are the Top 5 patriotic landmarks in the USA.

A. Fort McHenry, Maryland. The events there inspired our national anthem B. The Arizona Memorial C. Mt. Rushmore D. The Battle Road from Lexington to Concord Mass. E. The Statue of Liberty

Bonus: as someone said, the multiplicity of monuments in and around D.C.

4. With the snow piling up outside right now, what would be your top destinations to consider retiring to. It doesn't necessarily have to be a warm place, but it certainly may be.

I am looking for suggestions. Some possibilties: A. My wife has family near San Antonio, and my daughter wants to go to college there. B. My brother may be moving to Prescott, Arizona and I have friends not too far away in Sedona C. Maybe San Juan Batista, CA. Cost of living issues?

5. The death of Dandy Don Meredith sparks this question: What was your favorite Monday Night Football announcing crew?

It actually really was the Gifford, Cosell, Meredith team that was together for 12 years. For those too young to recall, Monday nights were truly a happening. During the first part of their run there wasn't even such a thing known as cable TV.

The divergent personalities of those 3 guys made it a complete entertainment package, especially Meredith and Cosell who came from completely different backgrounds but who really had fun, and were funny, giving digs at each other. The most poignant moment from them probably came when they had to announce the death of John Lennon on the air.

Also, for those who don't remember, the first year of MNF, it was Keith Jackson, not Frank Gifford who did the play by play, but he preferred the college game so he stuck with that and Gifford took over in the second year.

Also, recall that when Cosell and Dandy Don left, they were replaced by two prominent members of the "jockocracy" that Cosell railed against: Joe Namath and OJ Simpson.

For the love of god do not bring up the Uconn womens team. The idea that their streak of games is somehow gonna take over John Woodens amazing streak is xxxxing pitiful. There is NO competition what-so-ever in female basketball. Lets keep the records for the real sports please.

I think he's referencing the competition they face, not the purity of the basketball.

I will say this though: I think to be given his full due Geno Auriemma is going to have to take a men's basketball job. Let's see if he can bring his capabilities to the men's game and be successful.
