I think he played pretty well when he played, and if nothing else bring him back as a reserve. Why dump Elam?? Sometimes it takes time for guys to develop, and it definitly looks like he is developng into a good safety. Again if for nothing else we can use him for depth. I would probably keep Wright too ... granted he struggled, but the dude is young has played well and we are so thin at CB. He isn't a good starter obviously, but he could be a good nickel/dime DB. From that list I keep Dawson, Elam, Dqwell, Roth, Wright, Vickers, and Yates as long as the price is right. I would also consider bringing Robaire back depending how he recovers, and if we can get him on the cheap for a yr or
Harry Buffalo
I say we keep Mike Bell and Piscitelli. Bell is good and does better when he gets more than 2 rushes a game and we will need him with Hillis and Hardesty + a small FA/late round pick up because we don't know if Hardesty will stay healthy next season. Piscitelli is just as good as Sorensen in special teams and is way better in actual defense. He makes a good back up for Elam and Ward. Also I don't see us changing from a 3-4 to a 4-3. Doing so will set our defense back back at least two years.
shepwrite
Steve Smith got hurt so bad he might miss some of next year, right? Elam came on enough to keep. Roth? Not sure it really works. Might need more athlete. I'd love to get DQJ back. Robaire if he's healthy? Duh. But that's a tough one to come back from (achilles). Kenyon Coleman had a pretty terrific year, so he's a keeper for sure. I think Gocong, Fujita, Jackson, and Benard should be on the team... but we could sure use a couple new guys to go with them. On the line, I'd love to have Schaefering, Rubin, Coleman, and Smith... but also a couple more athletic guys. We'll see some turnover, especially with new coaches. alporcini
Would love to keep Roth, but from everything I read, i don't really get the sense that he particularly wants to be here... unless Lerner antes up the big big $$$$$$
Harry Buffalo
Would love to keep Roth, but from everything I read, i don't really get the sense that he particularly wants to be here... unless Lerner antes up the big big $$$$$$ He will pay Roth what he wants, and what articles are you reading because they must be from last offseason when he was trying to get a contract extension. From what I have heard this year he is committed to the browns.
The Gipper
Doubt Vickers will be back if were running a WCO. He'll go make the Pro Bowl with a contender. Why would you say that? I recall that the WCO uses a fullback to a great extent. Recall Tom Rathman blocking for Roger Craig and catching balls out of the backfield? No, Vickers would be a great fit IMHO! The Gipper
What I say is that you keep anyone....unless you can get somebody better to take his place. I do not doubt that there are a number of other, better people we can get than the ones we had. I will also only say this: Some of these people may be mediocre....and worth replacing if we got someone better....but they also replaced a lot of people that were here last year that were worse. So, we went from poor to mediocre. Now we need to go from mediocre to good.
