Slurp and Burp
I am surprised that all of the talk these past few days is all about Harbaugh as being the most attractive coaching option in the NFL. Why not Tressell? The only knock against Tressell is his record against SEC teams but other than that he is a great coach and has proven his abilities at YSU and Ohio State. Maybe Homlgren will give him a call after the Arkansas game tonight which should be an OSU victory. my two cents.

Slurp and Burp
He could turn the Browns around. Ohio State would still find an A Plus coach to take his spot.

rich4eagle
Because he's an average college coach at best and would get his ass handed to him in the NFL? Yeah he is an average coach....who won five National Championships and more BCS games than any other coach and played in more BCS games than any other coach...and has the highest winning percentage the last decade you judge of talent is about as good as your judge of fans....stick your head back up urass
FearTheRoo
Yeah he is an average coach....who won five National Championships and more BCS games than any other coach and played in more BCS games than any other coach... you judge of talent is about as good as your judge of fans....stick your head back up urass He won 1 National Championship. He coached freaking Youngstown State, that's not even a FBS school so it doesn't count. The Big Ten is weak, he beats up on teams like Marshall then gets rocked by Wisconsin. And the same reason I don't want Cowher=Once a Steeler, always a Steeler....Tressel=Once a Suckeye, Always A Suckeye. I'm embarrassed he went to UA. Why not hire Mike Haywood to coach the Steelers? Slurp and Burp
yeah he beat up on Oregon sucks and guess who is playing Auburn for the National Championship? Also, Tressel won 4 championships at YSU and one SO FAR at OSU against Miami. At least he coaches his team well enough to show up at the big dance more than any other recent coaches. BROWNandORANGE
As a Florida Gators fan, I don't have much confidence in Tressel. Any team with a decent amount of speed has destroyed OSU, where in the NFL, every team possesses SEC-level speed. I have nothing against Tressel, he seems like a classy guy. I just don't know if he'd be the best fit for our organization.

ballpeen
Jim Tressel won 5 NCAA National Football Championships, beat up on Marshall bad enough to force them up into Division 1. Tore a new hole in Air McNair, and conducts himself in an honorable and gentlemanly fashion. Conservative, he is. Although he punked Miami pretty good. HAd the OSU idiot players not destroyed Ted Ginn's leg, the Gators owuld have had to account for him all night ling and the Buckeyes owuld have beat FLorida for another National Championship. THe LSU game was ugly, no doubt about it. Of course it wasn't the Buckeyes moving themselves up 7 spots in a very average year to get to a National title game. Also, this business about Trssel having a poor record against the SEC........ what is it, 0 -2? Could he bring the Browns back to glory. He sure couldn't do any worse than Crennel the coffee fetcher or Mangini the field goal lover. It would be interesting as all hell and it would sell the hell out of tickets and merchandise. I don't think he is ready to leave Ohio State, but he does love the Browns. Come on man, the score was 41-14. Even if Ginn was worth 3 more TD's you lose. slowburn
Tressell is the King of Cbus. He rules maybe the most prolific sports program in all of NCAA athletics. His recruiting network is a solid coast to coast syndicate. The alumni and OSU admin view him as the know all and be all of that which is OSU football. He rules the local press and his compenstation package is as good as it gets. Ain't no way he'd relinquish his kingdom for the job in Cleveland. pizzadeliveryguy
Yeah, what a class act that Jen Tressel. Players get busted violating the rules and he lets them play in the big game. Gosh, so classy. I think your problem is with the NCAA, not Tressell.
BigBrownsFan
I think your problem is with the NCAA, not Tressell. No, not particularly..... as coach, he STILL has the power to do the right thing, and chose not to, in spite of what the NCAA did.

Exactly, why would a man with an excellent team, great recruiting and all of the job security in the world trade it for no job security and a team full of mostly 2nd 3rd and 4th stringers on competitive teams' rosters? Tressell is too old for that kind of headache.
Nw220
Pretty sure OSU just beat Arkansas so enough with SEC bullshit but as a head coach in Cleveland no thanks hes just not the right fit in my opinon and why give up one of the best Coaching spots in the Country to come here on a non sure thing. Hes set for life where hes at the love him there and i dont think he has the ambition to go on to the next level, Next question

Tressell is too old for that kind of headache. Ditto- he owns Columbus. Why in the hell would he want to take a pay cut to coach the Browns? Next season he moves past Pooper Scooper Cooper [who couldn't gameday coach his way out of a paper bag] into second place in all time OSU wins. If Tressell had been coaching those talent loaded teams, I daresay the Bucs would have a few more National titles. Oh, and Jimmie has a better winning percentage regular season AND bowls than St. Woody, and has beaten "That Team Up North" so many times running I've lost track. Nope, Mr. Tressell ain't going nowhere, even if Randy backs the Brinks truck up to his door. Considering Urban Meyer coached Tressell's pants off (and happens to be available) There's a far better option. (Assuming he wouldn't drop dead from a heart attack in the preseason). Gosh, so classy. Trust me on the this the people involved in the Sugar Bowl would have lost it if OS came to the game with out Pryor and Herron... You bring in a top tier team like OS and not their biggest draw which is Pryor. Tressel was probably under some pressure to make them play. A greater power ruled who played last night, not Tressel.
