roach
Reports are tripping all over thereselves that the Dolphins will offer Harbough $7-8million per year to coach. The first problem is that they haven't fired Coach Sporano. Second, they haven't interviewed a minority coach to satisfy the so-called Rooney Rule. Who knows how this will turn out. How humuliating must it be for for a black or Hispanic coach to go through the process in order for a team to be able to make an offer to their top candidate. It is embarassing for the team and must be truly dreadful for the token candidate. Isn't there a way to accomplish this with more dignity? The NFL has great black and Hispanic coaches and they don't need to be treated this way.

I would like to think NFL teams want to win and look past white and black. Can you name any resent coaches that have got looked over cause there skin color? BrownIndian
We are in a day and age where I think the Rooney Rule can be abolished from the NFL but attempting any such rule change will cause a huge political turmoil.

WRREBEL
The Dolphins are asswipes for letting Sparano twist in the wind. Zombo So true man.. I feel for sparano even though he is a douche with those sun glasses. Miami reminds me of guy who string along a girl, waiting to hear from another girl first before he makes his move
slowburn
NFL ownership plans to use the poor economic climate as leverage in potentially capping rookie salaries in the upcoming CBA negotiations. The hypocrisy of Miami offfering a coach with minimal NFL experience 7-8 million a year cannot be overlooked. WTF over

Alendor
rules like this are what keep racisim even alive to this day. they try to make a rule to make it fair in their mind, and instead they make the people that are part of the race they are trying to protect look like fools. you know we're not going to hire the giants guy, yet hes wasting his time interviewing with us just because we're forced to interview a black guy. all its doing is hurting him, he has to know hes just being interviewd to satisfy the rule
Captain Cheesedick
Yeah I did realize that why? Still doesn't make him look any gayer You realized he had a medical condition that required him to wear those glasses, and you still made fun of him? Your past posts have hinted towards your maturity level, but this one confirms it.
BROWNandORANGE
This is the stupidest rule in modern sports. If you don't want a black coach, then you shouldn't have to hire one.
ATENEARS
When is the NFL gonna enforce the Hillis Rule, making all teams have a white RB?
Kosar_For_President
Distinguishing race like this only reinforces that their are differences between us. As Dave Chappelle said, "Our differences are only cultural". Rooney is a douche. I want reparations beaotch. Signed, the whitest nigga on the planet. Soju
It is a pretty pathetic rule. Will Rooney be satisfied when every personnel and player is black? If ANYTHING there should be a interview for white players during the draft. God knows how many other Hillis' and wide receivers there are out there that will never be given the chance. Blacks dominate the sports scene, they certainly don't need assistance in the hiring department, too. Rooney, what a white guilt ridden moron. I could say a lot more and go on, but what's the use anymore. Screw this PC shit.

The hypocrisy of Miami offfering a coach with minimal NFL experience 7-8 million a year cannot be overlooked. WTF over Both the union and NFL management are on board for a rookie wage scale. It has little to do with the 'poor economic climate'. The question will be what to do with the money saved. The union, naturally, wants that money to go to proven veterans. The ownership is reluctant to guarantee that it all go to player salaries. There is a salary cap now, the only question is how to distribute that money within the cap: to overpriced unproven rookies, or to proven veterans. The issue of what to pay the coach has noting to do with that.

Leslie Frazier was one of those guys who got what you might call several of those "token" interviews. Yet in them he impressed people....to the point now that he is the full time coach of the Vikings. The same thing happened to Lovie Smith. It has opened doors for several people.
