Mr. T
Jon Gruden watch continues Tom Jackson As I blogged earlier, there has been speculation that Sandusky native Jon Gruden, who grew up a Browns fan, might become the team's next coach in the wake of Eric Mangini's firing. It's still not clear yet whether that's likely to happen. The Plain Dealer ran a Story a couple of days ago about Gruden's dad saying his son would be a good fit for the Browns. Today, though, the PD is reporting that Pat Shurmur of the Rams is "emerging as the frontrunner" for the Browns' job. Definitive news should emerge soon. In the meantime, HERE is Bob Frantz' column arguing that Gruden is the logical choice for the Browns. Source HERE I hope that the Walrus will atleast give Gruden an interview before making a decision.

WRREBEL
Grudens nickname is the answer! "Its a bird, its a plane, no its grudenman!"
Gips
Gruden is the answer but rather he wants to do something challenging and heroic instead of sitting on his ass as a talking head in namby pamby has-been land all day is the real question.. Because turning this team around will be grind and his ego may have grown to where he wouldnt want to work under holmgren and or he now thinks he is mr. tv... Hey jon you sound and look like a dork in that monkey suit! Get back to coaching while you can your fiery window is closing!

Now if we go out there, and we half-ass it 'cause we're scared, all we're left with is an excuse; we're always gonna wonder. But if we go out there, and we give it absolutely everything - that's heroic. Let's be heroes."
DawgEatSteel
im wondering why nothing has been said about gruden at all really...why is he screening his calls when he sees a 216 area code pop up? i hope gruden is the guy, we need espn to say something nice about us for a change and if we hire pat shurmur were just gonna get made fun of like always...lol happy new year
Nw220
Yeah im confused on the Gruden situation as well also you would think everyone would be connecting the dots and ESPN would be saying he would be in the running but nothing not even a whisper its quite confusing...I wouldnt mind Gruden considering who we are interviewing but i also am not thrilled for him but the fact that there hasnt even been the slightiest mention of him....Im in awe
peterbell
This is Mike Holmgren's show, plain and simple and he is the face of the franchise I think that is pretty clear to anyone with a lick of intelligence. That being said, Gruden is not looking to be subserviant to Holmgren or the 2nd fiddle so to speak. Gruden will not happen..period....
