Gips
Any kid that has a year or more left and suspects he could be picked by the browns and marked for failure would be smart to finish school and pray the browns dont come knocking again next year.. jrb12711
I'm beginning to strongly think that these agents might be hearing a good bit about a potential lockout. This is already the third for sure first round draft pick to return to school (luck, jenkins, now blackmon). I could be way off base, but it seems odd to me. Gips
let me guess you think the birds and fish dying are due to end of days? No but i believe the browns will never consistently win in the nfl again until lerner is removed as the owner.. I dont like this shoed in coach deal man, cmon fewell, mularkey and shurmur? Holmgren never intended to look far or wide scubber was his guy from the beginning and he is a loser according to some rams and eagle fans.. Dude we agree on a lot of things.. Im telling you that I was more dissappointed in Gruden not getting hired.. But the fact that mangini is gone gives me something to get excited for.. Lets take the wait and see approach.. The biggest need is talent..

Seriously who did he have to choose from after Gruden said he was staying with ESPN. Anyone but Gruden and you would be complaining and saying it was Holmgren's plan all along so whatever just keep bitching about it.

longhorn
let me guess you think the birds and fish dying are due to end of days? That's just silly, we all know Holmgren killed the birds and Heckert killed the fish, all to make room for Shurmur and....best of all, Bob LaMonte ordered the hits. shepwrite
I think Mangini's behind this "All the Receivers Stay in School Program." When we have no receivers. Brilliant.

Nw220
What about AJ Green, or is it pretty concluded that he will be gone by the time the Browns pick? Yeah i think everyone seems him being gone by the time we get to pick but stranger things have happened so ill keep my fingers crossed but now it looks like Jones is the guy, built to play in the WCO offense 6'4 220 lbs and YAC is a must

hoorta
Well, except of course I am still on board as saying we need DL help first....and there may be more quality DL available than WRs. True enough Gipper- but look at the teams that draft ahead of us. 1) Carolina- could use Green with an aging Steve Smith on the roster. But Clausen throwing Green the ball? Not good. 2) Denver- With the worst defense in the league, they're going D, no question. Fairly stops here if Carolina doesn't take him. Peterson? A corner with the #2 pick? You're kidding, right? 3) Buffalo- Could use help on either side of the ball. 4) Cinti- with Stinko still on the team and some promising young 'uns, A #1 wr is not a priority. 5) Cardinals- They need a quarterback, PERIOD. And they already have a #1 wr in Fitzgerald. 6) Cleveland. So, my crystal ball says if Green falls past Buffalo, our odds are looking good. Julio Jones will certainly be there, if we want to go in that direction. I'm not debating we need serious help with our defensive front seven- but it would depend who gets taken ahead of us. If Fairly AND Green were both on the board- wow, that's a tough choice. But you have to factor in H&H and now Shurmur's background. It's going to be offense first everything else being equal. Lots of major mocks have the Browns taking A.J. Green at #6. It just takes a QB, a few DL, and a CB going ahead of us, which is quite realistic. I'd call it 50/50. shepwrite
Gabbert is getting a lot of heat as a Top five pick. Then you have Dareus, Bowers, and Fairley. Toss in Patrick Peterson and that's five picks who aren't A.J. Green.

I agree with Hoorta that the Cardinals are probably the prime candidate to for sure take a QB, but with Luck staying home is anyone out there now worth of Top 5? Do you think they may want to take Cam Newton? Or does anyone else think like me and think Newton may be Jamarcus Russell version 2.0?
ronfu
Would rather have Green if available but the way I look at we need DL,DE,CB so at leat we will be left with top flight at those positions I saw cool on the Shurmer hire as long as we get solid coordinators

I've read a number of draftnicks predicting that Gabbert will rise... perhaps even to #1. He's got everything but eye-popping numbers: Size, athleticism, quick release, NFL arm, spins it fast, smart, etc. His completion percentage is nice but he didn't throw a ton of TDs. He'll work out and interview very, very well. He looks the part. You can watch film and envision him as a very good NFL quarterback. He could go to Carolina, Buffalo, or Arizona. I'm betting Harbaugh is eyeballing him, too... although I'm predicting that Kolb goes so SF. He was one of the top recruits in the nation coming out of HS, so it's not like he's come out of nowhere, either.
pizzadeliveryguy
I'm betting Harbaugh is eyeballing him, too... although I'm predicting that Kolb goes so SF. He better be willing to give up a boatload for him. From what I've read Philly paid him 12m last season and only owes him 1.3 this year. Word is that they won't back off of the two 1st rounders for him and I can't see any team paying that.
Nw220
Yeah i dont see Gillbert getting into the top 5 but we will see, i still think if Green is gone we should maybe try to trade back a couple of slots and grab him Jones say #10 ish because it has to be before the Rams because if hes there when they pick hes a goner..
