JoeyBagofDonuts
Comes from St Louis as WR coach, so knows Shurmur, worked with Holgrem already. And if Shurmur is calling the plays this may be a OC grooming on the job. Little history on him- Nolan Cromwell, a veteran NFL assistant coach and former All-Pro defensive back, joins the Rams as wide receivers coach in his 17th NFL season. After spending the previous two years in the college ranks as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M, he spent nine seasons with the Seattle Seahawks as the wide receivers coach from 1999-2007. Cromwell also spent time with the Packers coaching wide receivers in 1998 and as the special teams coach from 1992- 97. Cromwell began his coaching career as a defensive and special teams assistant for the Rams in 1991. Cromwell’s coaching tenure has lead him to three Super Bowls and four NFC West Division titles. Cromwell experience continued success as a part of the Seahawks coaching staff under Mike Holmgren, going to four NFC Championships and earning five consecutive playoff berths. The Seahawks reached Super Bowl XL in Detroit against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2002, Cromwell’s wide receiver corps set a franchise record for 300-yard (five) and 400-yard (two) passing games and in 2003 helped quarterback Matt Hasselbeck set a club record with 3,841 passing yards. Before going to Seattle, Cromwell worked with the wide receivers at Green Bay in 1998 helping Pro Bowler Antonio Freeman lead the NFL with 1,424 yards on 84 catches. From 1992-97, Cromwell headed up the special teams for the Packers. In 1996, the Packers' punt return unit led the NFL with a 15.1-yard return average. Five different times during the 1996 season, one of Cromwell's players was honored as Special Teams Player of the Week. Also in 1996, the Packers won Super Bowl XXXI against the New England Patriots in New Orleans with special teams player Desmond Howard winning the Super Bowl MVP honors. The following year, the Packers reached Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego against the Denver Broncos. A second-round draft choice by the Rams, Cromwell played his entire 11-year NFL career (1977-87) for the Rams' organization. He earned Pro Bowl honors four times, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Year in 1980, and was named NFL Defensive Back of the Year by Football Digest in 1984. He ended his NFL career as the Rams’ alltime leader in interception return yardage with 671 yards on 37 interceptions. He played in Super Bowl XIV against the Steelers after the 1979 season. Inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1996, Cromwell played collegiately at the University of Kansas, starting out as a defensive back his first two years and switching to quarterback as a junior. He set several records as a wishbone quarterback rushing for 1,124 yards in 1975 earning Big Eight Offensive Player of the Year accolades as well as All-America honors. Cromwell played at Logan High School as a freshman helping the basketball team win a state championship. When his family moved to Ransom, Cromwell was a standout in football, basketball and track. He was a national AAU junior champion in the decathlon, a three-time state champion in track and earned consensus All-State honors in football and basketball. The Wichita Eagle named him the state's top high school player of the 1970's. Cromwell and his wife, Mary, have two children, Lance and Jennifer. Mark O
Why would we hire a guy who played defense in the NFL to be the offensive coordinator?
calfoxwc
I thought that, too, Mark... I figure that with his defensive experience, he will have a great insight in how to fool defenses.... I hope.

Gips
this is a superstar cast of a coaching staff the walrus is assembling... Lol, these hires will be another national football joke and a smack in the fans face until they prove otherwise.. You cant find the next gruden or holmgren in gruden and holmgren and we have to hope holmgrens doughnut filled gut filling is right.. Because if it isnt this club will be set back so far it will remain irrelevant for the next decade.. In holmgren we must trust because we dont have a choice...
