tdogg
For the Browns OC job. Musgrave is the Atlanta Falcons Assistant Head Coach/Quarterbacks. Musgrave's info
Gips
Musgrave is a mustgrab! Not really much left out there, this guy if he fits the plan would be a good grab..
tdogg
It'll be Musgrave and Jauron. Zombo I have a feeling Jauron will take the defensive coordinator job in Philly. He's been the defensive back coach there for a couple years and i bet he'd rather have that job than the one here in Cleveland, basically because of the cheese steaks in Philly. calfoxwc
I only want Musgrave. He'd be an excellent choice. "Make it so" Jauron's name sounds like it came out of the movie Avatar, anyways. GGG
LCDawgFan13
I like Musgrave. He would be a great choice. Not so sure about the selection at DC. It looks pretty thin there. We should've kept Ryan.
ballpeen
With Shurmer being a offensive guy, and going to call his own plays, I don't really care who is hired as OC. We have had defensive minded head coaches, we tend to be more interested in who is going to be the OC. The defensive call is the critical call IMO. Nw220
Yeah i would like this hire, still dont like Jauron as DC id rather take a chance on a young up and coming position coach on D, then some old guy who've we already seen in action...Its like watching the same movie over and over

We should've kept Ryan. I don't think ryan was staying no matter how hard we tried. The cowboys defense has more talent to work with than ours. longhorn
Musgrave would be good. Josh McDaniels is still available too. Him and the Rams couldn't make a deal.
professor_g
I think it'll be Wannstedt and Jim Zorn, but who knows at this point... "whoever we can get" Zorn and Cromwell are not candidates according to a tweet from Mary Kay 3 hours ago.

professor_g
The last thing Holmgren wants is another Belichick disciple. McDaniels makes no sense to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

The Gipper
If we get Musgrave to be the OC, will the Browns have to go through the "Musgrave Ritual" before every game?: 'Whose was it?' 'He who is gone.' 'Who shall have it?' 'He who will come.' ('What was the month?' 'The sixth from the first.')[1] 'Where was the sun?' 'Over the oak.' 'Where was the shadow?' 'Under the elm.' 'How was it stepped?' 'North by ten and by ten, east by five and by five, south by two and by two, west by one and by one, and so under.' 'What shall we give for it?' 'All that is ours.' 'Why should we give it?' 'For the sake of the trust

calfoxwc
From Rotoworld: The Vikings and the Rams are also going to interview Musgrave. I hope he comes here. ******************************** ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Falcons assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave will interview for both the Browns' and Vikings' offensive coordinator jobs. The Rams have also asked permission from the Falcons to speak to Musgrave about their open OC position after talks with Josh McDaniels broke down. Musgrave has been an NFL coach for 12 years and has coordinated the offenses of the Panthers (2000) and the Jaguars (2003-04). He was also OC at the University of Virginia for two years. shepwrite
Don't really have a feel for Musgrave as a coach. Looks like he had a hard time holding both OC jobs. On the other hand, he has some really nice experience tutoring QBs. Seems to me like he's been in and out of the WCO. Anybody have a grip on this? So MH was the qb guru last year, PS was that guy last week, and now it might be Musgrave.............hmmmm sounds like we don't even need a qb coach like every other team in the league. Well just in case maybe we should find a DC who also doubles as a qb guru. Just curious who is gonna get all the credit or blame. I personally just want a guy who knows how to run an offense in general instead of just knowning how to teach qbs to throw spirals........thank you. Good point, didn't realize we still had him under contract. Would have been nice to upgrade the defense/pass rush and see what he could've done. Would like to know what we were paying him vs what the cowboys are paying him to see if that was why he left. I've got a feeling MH and CO wanted to cut all ties with the previous staff. ballpeen
Just saw this posted on nfl.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81...or-ocoordinator Obviously it's not official, but it looks like it could be taking place within the next few hours. Article : Other general managers around the NFL expect the Cleveland Browns to hire Bill Musgrave shortly for their offensive coordinator job. Several teams that are interested in Musgrave, who was the Atlanta Falcons' quarterbacks coach the previous five seasons and their assistant head coach this past year, don't believe they will have a chance to talk to him at this point. Musgrave interviewed in Cleveland on Tuesday. Musgrave has vast experience in the West Coast offense, which Browns president Mike Holmgren prefers, and has helped several quarterbacks thrive. Musgrave has served as a quarterbacks coach for the Washington Redskins (2005) and Oakland Raiders (1997), and he has been an offensive coordinator at several stops, including the Jacksonville Jaguars (2003-04), Carolina Panthers (2000) and Philadelphia Eagles (1998). He also was the offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia for two seasons (2001-02). New Browns head coach Pat Shurmur will be involved in play-calling, but the team's new offensive coordinator will have some of those duties as well. Quarterback development will be paramount in the job description, with rookie Colt McCoy in the fold.

DawgTracker
Maybe he wants a coach that will let him call the plays. How much coordinating does an offensive coordinator do if he doesn't call the plays? I hope this isn't the hiring scenario that Holmgren envisioned when he got rid of mangini
Vegasdogg
Maybe he wants a coach that will let him call the plays. How much coordinating does an offensive coordinator do if he doesn't call the plays? Develops the offense, but most importantly I would think helps the HC and QB coach develop Colt McCoy. I think our biggest priority on offense is getting the best WCO guys we can to develop Colt, develop plays for him, and see him be the best QB he can be.
