LNC
#2 : Raiders # 3: Jets. Their only Superbowl came pre-1970 merger, and they haven't won any since then, as they haven't been back to the Superbowl. # 5: I know Atlanta played in it, so that would make it '99. I can't remember who they played for sure, GB maybe? There's only been three OT conference championship games. If it wasn't Cleveland-Denver, then that has to be it because they changed the rules after whiny Favre never had a chance to touch the ball last year, that one ended quick. # 6: If you're looking for just ONE unique answer, then Dallas is it. They've been to the big dance eight times since 1970. #9 : If the 49'ers is half right, then how about Dallas as the other. Lord knows they've been there enough too. AFC Cleveland-Denver #10: Three. Cleveland-Denver 87, NO-Minnesota '10, Atlanta-GB? '

The Gipper
Here is some topical trivia: all about Conference Championship games. Team records. This applies ONLY to conference championship games since the 1970 merger: Complete Final Answers: 1. What teams in the AFC and NFC respectively have the best winning percentage in Conference Championship games (minimum 2 games)? The Giants are 4-0 in NFC title games and the Bengals are 2-0 in AFC title games for a 1.000 winning pct. A couple of teams are 1-0. 2. What team made the most consecutive Conference championship game appearances? (either conference) The Oakland Raiders were in 5 consecutive AFC conference title games from 1973-1977, though they only won 1 of those games in 1976. They lost games in the meantime to the Dolphins, Steelers and Broncos. 3. Which current AFC team(s) have never won an AFC Conference Championship game? Remember that this covers the Conference title games just since 1970. For the 4 prior "Super Bowl" years these games were title NFL or AFL championship games, not "conference" title games. Thus, in addition to the Browns...)who lost 2 of those "NFL title games" in 1968 and 1969) and the Jags and the Texans, we must also include the Jets and the Chiefs who have not won since 1968 and 1969 respectively. The Jets can, of course, rectify this on Sunday. Also note that the Seahawks while they were in the AFC (now in NFC) did not win an AFC title game, but they are not a current AFC member. 4. Which NFC team(s) have never won an NFC Conference Championship game? The Lions are the only NFC team to not win an NFC title game. (even the Seahawks have) 5. What was the longest Conference Championship game (NFC or AFC) in history? The 1998 season NFC title game between the Falcons and Vikings, won by the Falcons went 71 plus minutes. Second longest was the Browns/Broncos 1986 game. 6. What team(s) have won the most Conference Championship games? (either conference) The Dallas Cowboys have won 8 Conference title games. The Steelers could tie them on Sunday. 7. What team(s) have lost the most Conference Championship games? (either conference) The Steelers, Raiders, and 49ers have each lost 7 Conference title games. If the Steelers lose on Sunday they will hold this record alone. 8. What team scored the most points in a Conference Championship game? (either conference) The Buffalo Bills beat the Raiders in the 1990 AFC title game by a score of 51-3. It is not only the most points scored by a team in a conference title game since 1970, but, clearly, the largest margin of victory in a conference title game. 9. What has been the most frequent NFC Conference Championship game matchup? The Cowboys and the 49ers have faced off 6 times in the NFC title game. Most frequent AFC Conference Championship game matchup? The Raiders vs. Steelers and the Browns vs. Broncos have each happened 3 times. 10. How many AFC and NFC Conference Championship games have gone into Overtime? (name any that you can) 4 games: Browns/Broncos 1986 is the only AFC OT title game. In the NFC you have the Falcons vs. Vikings in 1998, the Giants and Packers in 2007 and the Saints and Vikings in 2010. 11. What team has gone the longest without appearing in a Conference Championship game? (either conference) The Bengals have not appeared in a conference title game since 1988. 12. What team had the most consecutive victories in a Conference Championship game? (either conference) The Buffalo Bills won 4 in a row in the early 90s....and of course went on to lose 4 consecutive Super Bowls.
