Gips
Could be any of these packer coaches and any of them would be fine by me with robinson or clements being my best guesses at who will be our next OC... James Campen - Offensive Line Tom Clements - Quarterbacks Jerry Fontenot - Assistant Offensive Line Jimmy Robinson - Wide Receivers John Rushing - Offensive Quality Control

slowburn
Can you honestly expect any of the great young offensive minds in the league taking a position in Cleveland where they know going in that their input into the evolution and implementattion of a new offense will be severly limited in light of the Holgren/Shumur pact? Who would want to "coordinate" an offense knowing that you most likely will not be calling the plays. IMHO, the Browns have "dumbed down" the significance of the coaching position. Hardly an experience to highlght on your resume for a go getter on the NFL coaching fast track.
slowburn
do the Jets have an O/C. Doesn't Rex call the plays? I guess their dumbed down O/C just sat on his thumbs all the way to the AFC Championship game. Give me a break Thanks for your help in proving my point.... Brians Schottenheimer's phone won't be ringing off the hook anytime soon with OC/HC job offers.

shepwrite
I'm getting the sense that it's between two very different candidates: The current available WCO OC guru, Childress... and up and comer in the WCO Mafia, Tom Clements.
peterbell
I told you guys.. word is a lot of coaches have turned down interview opportunties with the Browns because of the uncertainty that is prevelant in the Browns.. especially with the' Pope of Offense" looking down from the tower. who needs that BS..unless you go for some unknown who wants a shot, but is a pretty big calculated risk, especially if the Pope or Shumur pull the rug. ClevelandFanForLife
Really brad childress ill be disgusted i would actually be ok with that hire. i was very outspoken in my belief that childress was one of the worst coaches in the league but as a coordinator, he would be ok. there are a lot of guys (romeo, capers, lebaue) that are bad head coaches but good or great coordinators. calfoxwc
Too much guessing about all this "nobody wants to come here with the uncertainty". Heyl, come on, folks. We want someone who WANTS the challenge and can EXCEL in the challenge. Enough with the wimps who want to go to a perfect situation with most or all of the talent already in place. I want an OC who kicks arse no matter what the imperfections or obstacles are. You overcome them. Anything else, is just hopping on board a moving train. I'll pass. When the going gets tough, they bail, as players and coaches. That's like saying good coaches only want to go work on teams with a dome, so they don't have to face the uncertainty of any bad weather. The Browns FO will get the perfect guy. And he won't be a fairweather wimp. @@

Hardly an experience to highlght on your resume for a go getter on the NFL coaching fast track. I don't know that I agree with this sentiment as a general principle. Now this may be the case right now... but... Holmgren did not call the plays when he was OC Reid did not call the plays for Holmgren when he was OC Childress did not call the plays for Reid when he was OC See a theme? The Walsh/Holmgren/Reid tree called their own plays as Head Coach and they keep churning out head coaches. Of course the abysmal failure of Childress as head coach is not a prime example of this success.

Thaak
Abysmal is a litte strong. Weren't they an overtime FG from going to the Super bowl last year? And 10-6 the year before with Jackson/Frerrote at QB? I think Chili would be a good guy to run Shurmur's offense if he's interested. But whomever we hire, it's Shurmur's offense so it's not going to be a grounbreaking hire. The DC was more critical IMO. Zombo I live up here in Minnesota... so we got a ton more on all the drama than went national. Childress was a joke. The Vikings won in spite of him, not because of him. miktoxic
I live up here in Minnesota... for real? how has the weather been up there this new year? i've seen the midwest get blasted, but we're (NE) about a 1/2 inch away from being the six foot record of snow for the past six weeks. tomorrow is another 'winter weather advisory'. i heard jay cutler got caught up underneath the blades of a plow the other day. if you're driving though gary you might catch a glimpse of the nibbler selling car washes outside walmart, correct? steve buschemi still has nightmares about the big paul bunyan dude hovering over the NDakota/MN line. (saw the real paul/big blue monument in maine a couple of years ago, pretty awesome.) doing 85 mph up 95 you can get there in about 7 hours. steven king said to say hi. he writes awesome shit but is a patriots/red sox fan. sucker. but alas, on topic, i think we hire another philly (or holmgren off shoot) guy. noone big and flashy. someone he can GROOM.
