Bill Davis as LB coach is a GREAT hire.

BIO

Davis re-joins the Browns as the team’s linebackers coach. He previously served as the club’s defensive quality control coach during the 1999 season. Davis spent the previous four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, where he coached linebackers (2007-08) and was the team’s defensive coordinator (2009-10). From 2005-06, Davis served as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. Before becoming the 49ers’ defensive coordinator, he spent four seasons tutoring the linebackers of the New York Giants (2004) and Atlanta Falcons (2001-03). He spent the 2000 season in Green Bay as a defensive assistant/defensive line coach with the Packers. He also spent four seasons leading the Carolina Panthers’ linebackers unit (1995-98). Davis’ first NFL coaching position came with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1992, where he spent three seasons as the defensive quality control coach. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Davis attended Berea (Ohio) High School. His father, Bill Davis, spent 15 seasons in the NFL as a coach and executive, including six years (1981-86) with the Browns as director of player personnel and later vice president of personnel. Davis and his wife, Sherry, have four daughters, Monica, Brooke and twins Grace and Ava, and a son, Billy.

#Browns will retain following assts: DBs Jerome Henderson, RBs Gary Brown, TEs Steve Hagen, OL George Warhop, league source said.#nfl

I disagree. Im not happy about Holmgren firing Mangini either, but at least they look to have some pretty good defensive coaches and Jerome Henderson the Db coach was brought up constantly by Rob Ryan as being a great coach. He along with Davis who looks to be a great LB coach and a guy with a lot of experience round out a fairly solid coaching group with Jauron at the top. Now the other side of the ball looks a little scary..

it's not even about mangini anymore. if these nobodies turn out to be good, then great. but i'm not going to hold my breath becuz the fat walrus deems it to be so. all i see is a way to get some of his 'boys' credibility for their next job and a fat paycheck in the meantime.

+1 mik.....this isn't about mangini. its about rebuilding around an antiquainted offensive and defensive system that both have been marginalized by better schemes. its about another rookie head coach biting off more than he can chew.

most of all, its about a old foggie that cant let go of his coaching days trying for one last hoorah without having any accountability for the results.

heckert is the only shining beacon in this FO and staff...and the only one of them that deserves a job.

I think alot of us have forgotten that there is already and accomplished WCO OC in the building. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hackell take the OC job.

Excellent point. After all, he was Holmgren's OC & is now a Consultant, so his input sans play calling would seem to be a good fit in the current structure.

Mike

wouldn't that be a demotion? working under some over-rated QB coach 20 years younger than you? pleeez.
