ClevelandFanForLife
I just wanted to see what everyone's best/worst Browns memories were. Being only 24, I don't remember much from before they moved to Baltimore so I can only go off of the new Browns. My best memory was beating the Steelers last year. It was a great atmosphere I was lucky enough to be there. It was amazing. The worst memory would have to be the 2003 Playoff loss to the Steelers. We were up by 2 scores at halftime and lost it. It still stings to this day.

1 more season
The worst has to be this by far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5Em_XtsQTE I laugh a little when the younger guys mention things that happened in the last 10 years. Can't blame you though not your fault wen you were born. My thing is that I'm not old enough to have witnessed this teams success either.

Browns149
My best memory was being at the double overtime playoff win against the Jets. The worst is hard to pick between the drive or the fumble. The drive was like slowly bleeding to death, but the fumble was like having a heart attack. Either way it SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Gipper
Yes, I remember this. Except the game was blacked out in this area and shown on Monday night, and it was in black and white.

I hope we get to celebrate another in the not so distant future. Mike

ballpeen
My favorite was my first game in 55 with my dad. The worst was the fumble....I curled up under the sheets in the fetal position for 3 days after that. I may have even called for my Mama.

roach
My worst memory is easy. Red Right 88. i was there with my Dad and brother. i just looked it up and it was 4 degrees. Worst sports day of my life. Guys, it is hard to imagine what that day was like. We exited the Terminal Tower (Rapid Transit train) at 11:30 AM. It was misery walking to that game, sitting/standing there until 4:30, walking back to the Terminal Tower, and then the train breaks down between Triskett and West Park. We had to exit the train and walk to the West Park Station (not too far) in the snow and single digit temperatures. Then we had to call a friend for a ride to the Brookpark station to get our car. We got home, frozen, about 7:00PM. i don't think the outcome of the game would have mattered much. That day was awful. My best memory is a tough one. There are so many, back to watching the 1965 Championship game on TV, to listening to Ken Coleman calling the game on the radio, to later listening the Gib Shanley call the game on the radio (the best ever). i've seen so many games down at the Stadium from the Sipe and Kosar years. It is hard to choose. In many ways my best memory might be a loss to the Steelers 43-0. They kicked our ass is the opener of 1999, but we got our team and our history back. We have not yet recovered, but we're going to beat the shit out of them in 2011. i can't wait.
daddybull1
Best memory, the 64 championship.. I was a Jr in college and a frat brother was from Cleveland.. He had a 45 record that went hi ohio from Cleveland that he seemed to play non stop... We cut classes and went to Cleveland the day after the win and spent 3 days drinking in almost every bar in the city (at least it felt that way)... The worst memory was Model on the podium in Baltimore as he was being welcomed to that city. He better never get in the HOF, if so I'll be there booing my bloody ass off..... Another worst memory was the passing of Ernie Davis... I thought he'd be the next Jim Brown... Peace T.Dawg

Kosar_For_President
Best moment - Bill Belichik kicking Kosar's ass off the team. Jeez, I danced in the streets that day. Fook you. Then he plays his ass off to help Dallas win a ring.
The Gipper
Still bitter after all these years? Name a game that important that the Steelers have lost on a bad ref's call. You would still not be happy. Mostly the Steelers have benefitted from the bad calls in my recollection. The bad call on the Renfro catch which would have possibly put the Oilers into the SB. That play was tantamount to say, if the Santonio Holmes catch in the Steelers last SB had been ruled bad....and if there had not been an opportunity to overturn it. The Seahawks game, which many people think the Steelers benefitted greatly from bad calls. Possibly any number of others. If in fact you did have a bad call against you that caused you to lose such an important game, that is salved by the fact that you have had in the interim all those bad calls go your way. (plus, the team you follow has had legitimate success. The Browns haven't had that.)
FSG
What the hell was SLaughter going to do? Defy time and space? Byner goofed. He should have tucked the ball away, he was exposing the ball and he got used like a cheap hooker. Slaughter could have sold the play as if he were running a pattern OR he could have *gasp* blocked. Do you think Hines Ward would have just stood there? You know Randy Moss would have. And there is a reason that Ward has two rings and Moss has none - even though he's come close. It's those small things that make the difference between winning and losing. Take accountability instead of shifting blame.

Marty was quoted (I will look for it) saying, "Slaughters one assignment on the play was to block the guy who stripped the ball. Slaughter was out there in no mans land doing nothing". He would of defied something if he would of got a hand on the man who he didn't block.

Bob806
It's so hard to pin down these type of questions to one choice. The 1980 season had so many unbelievable endings, but I'm going with Gerald McNeil, the Ice Cube, returning a kickoff for a TD at 3 Rivers Stadium in 1986, and we finally won in that dreaded stadium. I was at a clambake, the whole place went nuts. Worst memory (of a game) was losing to the Dolphins in 1972 playoff game. We had those bastards beat in the Orange Bowl and blew it late. Worst memory was mentioned by others...Modell taking the team to Baltimore. I ended up leaving work I was so pissed off.

Are you sure you don't mean 1985 when the Browns went ahead by 21-3 at the half? OK, I see, you are right. It was 1972 as well. Here is a recap of the game: An 8-yard rushing touchdown by Jim Kiick in the fourth quarter kept the Dolphins' hopes alive for an undefeated season. Miami scored first in the opening quarter when Charlie Babb blocked a Cleveland punt, picked it up, and returned it for a touchdown. The Dolphins then increased their lead to 10-0 with kicker Garo Yepremian's 40-yard field goal. But in the third quarter, Cleveland's Mike Phipps scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. Then after Yepremian added another field goal, Phipps threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Fair Hooker to give the Browns the lead, 14-13. The Dolphins then marched 80 yards to set up Kiick's winning touchdown, aided by a Paul Warfield's 15- and 15-yard receptions, and a pass interference penalty. Miami intercepted 5 of Phipps' passes. This was the closest the Dolphins came to losing all season apparently.
The Gipper
Here is a recap of that 1985 Browns/Dolphins playoff game where they were up so big and blew it: The Browns jumped to a 21-3 lead midway through the third period, but the Dolphins then scored 21 unanswered points—the final touchdown with 1:57 left to play. Miami scored on their first drive with a 51-field goal by Fuad Reveiz. Cleveland later marched 82 yard to score on quarterback Bernie Kosar's 16-yard pass to tight end Ozzie Newsome. In the second quarter, Browns defensive back Don Rogers intercepted Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, setting up a 21-yard rushing touchdown by running back Earnest Byner. Byner then ran for a 66-yard touchdown in the third quarter, the longest play in Cleveland's post season history, to give Cleveland a 21-3 lead. However, Miami then controlled the rest of the game. A 74-yard drive was capped by Marino's 6-yard touchdown pass to Nat Moore. Then running back Ron Davenport scored on a 31-yard touchdown. Davenport's winning touchdown, a 1-yard run with 1:57 remaining in the game, capped a 73-yard possession. Byner finished the game with 161 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on just 16 carries, while also catching 4 passes for 25 yards. Miami running back Tony Nathan rushed for 21 yards and caught 10 passes for 101 yards. 1 2 3 4 Total Browns 7 7 7 0 21 Dolphins 3 0 14 7 24 at Miami Orange Bowl, Miami, Florida Game time: 12:30 p.m. EST Game weather: 77 °F (25 °C), mostly cloudy Referee: Pat Haggerty
Bob806
Wow Gipper...I actually forgot Phipps had 5 ints in that 1972 playoff game. All I know is that we outplayed them, and once again, turnovers did us in. Even though the Dolphins went 17-0, I still regard the '85 Bears as the best "one season" team in NFL history. Sadly, there are far too many "worst defeats" to list, but I agree with a lot who posted on this so far. One of the worst not mentioned yet is when the Vikings beat us 28-23 on a Hail Mary to Rashad in 1980...thank God we won in Cincy the following week to win the Central ("Bum Phillips knocked on the wrong door" ). The Gipper
Nice fantasy. Here is the truth. Dallas was LOADED with talent and oculd have won with YOU playing QB. Kosar didn't play his ass off. He had an average game with a SB bound team. He was not more integral in winning to propel the Cowboys to the playoffs than Trent Dildo was in being around when the Ravens won a SB. MORE PROOF THAT KOSAR BLOWS.................... In a one sided SB win, Jimmie Johnson thought SOOOOOOOO much of Kosar, that he didn't even let the big, dumb, clumsy bastidge come in and take ONE SINGLE SNAP. Kosar was a farce. Belichik cut that cancer out and forever won me over as a fan. And yet, Belichick thought enough about Kosar to contemplate putting him on his coaching staff. So? You think Kosar was that bad, eh? Well, certainly he is not as good as the several other QBs we have had since him that have taken the Browns as far as the AFC Conference Championship game. (....{answering my cell phone}....er, what's that you say? There have been NO other QBs since Kosar to take us to the AFC title game?......sorry, my mistake). daddybull1
Ghoolie, Bernie has more football talent in his pinky than you have in your entire body.. Why the hatred for a player that gave his all for his team? You seem to come out of your undies to slam the guy. Very interesting... kshutchins
As much as I loved watching Bernie Kosar play, he also drove me nuts. I remember several games when I was screaming for Bernie to turn on the juice to put the game away but he waited one drive too long (IMO) to light a fire under the rest of the team. The Gipper
Here is a whole string of "Worst Moments". And it seems a bit outdated so it doesn't even mention the Indians collapse in the 2007 playoffs or "The Decision" by "The Asshole".
