ClevelandBigDawg
Shaun Rogers isnt overly surprising, but IDK if I like the move or not. When healthy he was one of the best NT/DT's in the league. Especially when motivated and a new coach could have done that. Other than that I wont miss any of them, other than David Bowens' two touchdown game. HAHA

TheClevelandSound
Another interesting retweet: "RT @NickSpano: With Abe Elam a FA and Brett Ratliff already cut, Browns ONLY have C Alex Mack left to show for the Mark Sanchez trade." Thaak
Wow, so in a 4-3, we need more D-linemen than Linebackers We currently have Robaire Smith (but he might be a FA that we won't resign, don't recall), Rubin, and a bunch of scrubs... We just cut Coleman and Rogers... Who's gonna be on our D-Line? I think round 1 is gonna be a D-lineman

slowburn
Rogers was on the sidelines way too much. Hard to justify his 5.5 million salary for 2011. happy trails
Tim Couch Pulls Out
I think that officially puts A.J. Green out of the mix for our first round pick. With these roster cuts, it would be stupid not to go defense, defense, defense. And with our inevitable switch to the 4-3, it would be stupid not to address the front seven. So, we go Trusnik, Fujita, Gocong at LB and Benard, Schaefering, Rubin, Roth at DL? We're gonna need some FA acquisitions, maybe Chris Hovan for a DT and Mathias Kiwanuka for a DE? If we don't bring Elam back we'll be looking for another safety as well. Shit, our defense is scary bad.
Harry Buffalo
All good hard hearted and hard working except for Rodgers and St. Clair, but not much talent wise with all of those players except Rodgers. I do find it hard to believe that they dropped him now instead of seeing what he could do during training camp. Like someone already said, a new coach and the defense moving to a 4-3 could have been more than enough to push him into getting back in shape and injury free. WRREBEL
All I can say is thank god... barton and bowens won't be in the nfl next year.. Rogers was lazy but talented. Besides where ever he plays he loses. I think holmgren wants winners and that isn't rogers.. "Losers go home and cry about there best, winners go home and f-uck the prom queen." jrb12711
It's been said, but I think this does pretty much seal the deal that DL is the route we're going with the first round pick. I can't say i'd be upset at all with that, there's a lot of DL talent this year.

Canton Mike
I'm glad that every topic I post gets deleted and someone else put one up and I don't get credited for it, especially if I'm the first to report it. I'll give you credit for your efforts...THANKS! I just verified these cuts on the Brown's website. The draft will be interesting & so will free agency (pending CBA outcome). Keep in mind most schools are still in 4-3s, so finding "fits" in the draft will be somewhat easier. In addition, there may be some excellent 4-3 talent in free agency or the trade market that was misused & under utilized in a 3-4 defense. We just might strike some gold in them thar hills folks! Bottom line is we needed change to improve & by golly, we're getting it. It just seems to me that changes in Brown's Town are happening with a purpose. It sure isn't going to be boring around here, is it? Mike

Erie Dawg
Dude, what are the rules? Adam Schefter reported that Mangini was gone when Holmgren was hired. Why is he considered a reliable source? Its on nfl.com but six guys gone sounds like we are at the midst of a rebuild. maybe heckert and homey are going to make a couple free agent splashes... well they almost have too. That's already six plus we need a kicker (unless we resign dawson). Then we have to address the positions that we need help in. we almost need 16 draft picks to add any sort of depth, and that's if we hit the jack pot on all of them. Limp dick juron better show the fans improvement on defense asap or he is one and done. He is nothing but a piss poor hire.
Rooster Dick
I would release any piss-ant that Mangini brought. This team is and was so bad. No hope, and no chance to compete against the better caliber teams. Browns need talent.... Not going to get it entirely through the draft. Lots of superstar talent on the Free Agent list. Start scooping people up... let's get this team above .500 for once. So sick of all the lame duck excuses and "He's too old..... or He's a headache" Bring in TALENT. I don't care about anything else. TheClevelandSound
I will say this once. We will be drafting AJ Green if he is there (all depends on Carson Palmer and the Cincy situation). If he is not there, we will go DE. But WR is still our biggest problem. You can't win a game with a D lineman. There are plenty of those in the draft.

htownbrown
If we don't get a real wr this offseason, this offense will look no different. It doesn't matter whose calling the plays, whose throwing the ball, or who is blocking who. As bad as the defense looked at times it seemed light years ahead of the offense most of the season. I find it hard to think that you bring in a HC/OC() and not spend a good chunk of the draft on offense. Freeman looked pretty much like Colt did last year until he got someone to throw to. And I'm not saying they didn't try, but couldn't you have gotten at least a 7th for Rogers? Or was the contract a deal breaker?

Well on his way to being Ted Washington II. & I agree- we brought in an offensive minded coach- may well be offense first. But the CBA has got to be fixed first because no one can sign any FAs until there's one in place. And the draft is supposedly way deeper in decent defense than WRs- of which there are maybe two Green and Jones.
peterbell
The Browns finished 13th in Scoring defense this season..The defense wasn't the problem, consistent QB play was the problem..all Holmgren guys by the way..We just exited a lot of depth..Rogers should have been cut last year..he's a quitter..The defense is now in full rebuilding mode as is the offense..how many years for this plan...2,4,6..SMH
