Thomaspro
With the cut of the 6 players we saved 16.5 million. We will soon be cutting or restructuring Jake D's contract. That will save us another 5 million. With that being said we will have 21 million available for FA. I see us landing either 3 defensive players probably a DT, DE, LB. Or possibly a WR with that money. Heckert is making the appropriate moves to make a splash in FA. What do you think? Thomaspro
ClevelandFanForLife
I think that we will go out and get at least two pretty good free agents. We won't hit a homerun, but a will get a solid B-list player. A guy who is a Pro Bowl Alternate, not a perennial All-Pro.

Thomaspro Yeah, I think we will be agressive to land front seven guys that fit Jauron's 4-3 and recievers ideal for West coast. we also will be lookng for a young RT type to anchor that right side and don't forget our holes at safety and corner. I think the only thing we WON"T be looking for is QB, FB, RB, TE and C. guess we'll need a kicker too. Zombo --Heckert has his work cut out with FA and draft ... let's hope he does as well as last year (McCoy, Watson, Hillis, Haden, Ward, etc..) Thomaspro
Montario Hardesty. He is coming back form injury. Maybe take a RB in the late rounds. just like we will take a QB in the late rounds.
slowburn
No RB? Who is going to share the load with Hillis A hopefully full strength Montario Hardesty and/or mike Bell, looking to redeem himself after last season. bell has heckert in his corner so he could be given the opportunity to shine in the new offensive schemes. I'm sure that they sign Bell to a one year deal and bring a late round pick in as well and see who to keep in training camp. Bell isn't a bad back, just like Hillis he works alot better the more carries he gets.
Thomaspro
Forgot about Bell. And we can get him on the cheap as well. Not much interest in him from around the league most likely. Ia lso hope the resign Abe Elam he did have a strong second half of the season. Gips
Heckert brought in 5 to 6 talents within FA and the draft that were starters. 1 to 2 more years of that, and we will be on fire. Heckert has proved to be the pivotal person in the FO. Heckert really does have his work cut out for himself but i believe he is one of only a few personnel guys that genuinely has the ability to pull something like this off, all we can do is hope but having an awesome GM who knows exactly what the club is looking for is a big, big plus in the right direction.. We should not expect miracles but we should expect to see some very unexpected (by many) improvement across the board as the season progresses (if we have a season) youth alone will provide a much needed boost but talented youth should start shining by mid season giving the fans a good indicator of where we are going.. ClevelandBigDawg
We could have more money than that even. If we dont re-sign some players we dump their salaries from last year, but it could be less, we may re-sign players like Eric Wright and Mike Bell. Nw220
I like Jacquzzi Rodgers in the late rounds i think hes gonna be great at the next level, also dont forget Evan Moore is a FA we need to resign him he has alot of potential
choco
With our luck we will have a tremendous off season only to be shot down by a lockout there is no offseason until a new CBA is agreed upon....i think maybe the draft is the exception. no free agency, no trades until the new CBA. players are essentially in limbo... so take some confort in that, if you will. daddybull1
The free agents that are available were not wanted by their former teams for a reason... Some because of the money they want but most because of diminishing skills for the money they command... Hopefully our scouts have been doing their jobs and some of that available money can be spent on the players that don't get drafted.. Free agency only fills holes temporarily, the good and great teams are built by the draft... Peace T.Dawg
