For help, see this link: http://www.grammy.com/ 1. Edited and uploaded pictures from Engineering Day to my workplace Facebook page; copied DVD's that I'll need for a class I'm teaching in a few weeks; changed the wiring on my Direct TV box so the sound can come through my stereo instead of the tv; laundry and other household chores; talked with loved ones on the telephone; updated the contacts on my new cell phone. 2. I'll call my loved ones and wish them a happy day other than that nothing special. I usually hate going out to eat on Valentine's Day. I've always found it crowded with unfortunate impact on service and quality. 3. Pierogi (had some fabulous ethnic food including pierogi at a great Ukrainian place in NYC last fall) 4. I thought the choices were appropriate so I don't have a "most shafted" selection 5. I watched Brick City and went to sleep. I did see a great interview of Lady Gaga recently and found her intelligent and totally likeable and I didn't really expect that.

The Gipper
Here are this week's survey questions: 1. Yesterday was the First Sunday since last September without the NFL. What did you do instead of watching football? Since I was sick all weekend (and still am) I laid on the couch and for a while skimmed through the TV then put on a movie on the DVD then evenutally watched the Grammy's. 2. Do you have any special plans for Valentine's Day? If so, what? Nothing special. I will probably get my wife some dark chocolate which is her favorite. Maybe some cheap flowers, and mean like six bucks cheap. She doesn't care about a card, or even the flowers so much, as long as I get her chocolate and coffee. Yes, she is a caffiene freak. Beyond that I am thinking maybe, pizza. 3. What is your favorite ethnic food? I am thinking, maybe, pizza. Is that considered "ethnic food"? If not, then let's just say Italian. 4. The HOF class for this year was announced last week. Who do you think got shafted the most by not being selected? I too think Chris Carter should have gotten in over Sharpe. 5. For about the first time in 20-25 years I watched a good portion of the Grammy awards last night. Do you have any opinion about the winners or losers? For help, see this link: http://www.grammy.com/ I didn't realize that the Grammy show was basically just a big concert. They spent very little time actually dealing with the nominations involved. Did you know there are actually 109 different Grammy categories, and during the show last night they awarded maybe 6 or 8 only? I was waiting for them to make the awards in the categories that Akron's " The Black Keys" were nominated, but they never did show up on air. Only after I checked the website this morning did I learn that they actually won 2 Grammys for Best Performance by a Rock Duo or Group with their song "Tighten Up", and Best Alternative Music Album. But, to my knowledge there wasn't a word about these on the 3.5 hour program last night.

hoorta
Here are this week's survey questions: 1. Yesterday was the First Sunday since last September without the NFL. What did you do instead of watching football? If you don't count New Year's Day, it was only the 2nd day of 2011 that topped 40 degrees in Dayton- I got out my beater Nishiki and took a LONG bike ride. 2. Do you have any special plans for Valentine's Day? If so, what? LOL, we've been married too long. Did the usual candy & flowers stuff- and the wife humored me Saturday night watching (for me the uncounted time) "Lord of the Rings, Return of the King". And even let me do a little explaining of the back history. BTW, for you Tolkien fanatics, "The Hobbit" is going to start filming soon- yet another setback when Peter Jackson blew a perforated ulcer. 3. What is your favorite ethnic food? Somebody said steak, and I'll agree. Favorite ethnic wine- French Bordeaux. 4. The HOF class for this year was announced last week. Who do you think got shafted the most by not being selected? Chris Carter should have been first ballot. Tim Brown too. Hamburger? Never impressed me as a player. 5. For about the first time in 20-25 years I watched a good portion of the Grammy awards last night. Do you have any opinion about the winners or losers? For help, see this link: http://www.grammy.com/ Grammies? Schmammies. Totally agree with Nickers- FRAUD!!! Why the Grammys are BS They finally gave the Zep a "lifetime achievement award"- 20 years too late- and ditto Pink Floyd a token about at the same time- but the list of snubs is unthinkable... "the members of the Recording Academy, who vote on the Grammys, have made some stunningly questionable decisions over the years — and not just the notorious Best New Artist Grammy they gave to the lip-sync act Milli Vanilli. The academy has never given a Grammy to Neil Young, The Who, or The Kinks." Highlight? I didn't watch- but the wife did, and I got quite a laugh when she showed me the 20 second pratfall of one of Tiny Canadian Pussy Douche's Ninjas falling flat on his ass during a stunt. calfoxwc
I was a Tolkien fanatic for a long time. I read the books in the service... but the movies have great parts, but a long list of really boring parts. Putting a great novel to 'life" in a movie has it's huge challenges, I'm sure - but the books intrigued me. The movies, so far, are longer than "Gone With the Wind". I tried to like them... You're correct- I couldn't envision anyone else than McKellen being Gandalf- (and that's been confirmed by Ian on twitter- that he's reprising the role), Hugo Weaving returns as Elrond, and Serkis is once again Gollum. Martin Freeman will be playing Bilbo. Hobbit Cast Guys without their makeup Though you can bet there will be some flux in the casting. Scheduled release date December 2012, two part movie. Chicopee John
Here are this week's survey questions: 1. Yesterday was the First Sunday since last September without the NFL. Anybody over the age of 18 especially (my kids are 17 and 15, LOLOL) This kind of goes for all award shows, if you ask me. However, the age limit might not apply to only a selected group.
