TheClevelandSound
This is a receiver I think we will grab in the early second round if we don't draft one with our first round pick. But reading this is upsetting: http://stlouis.sbnation.com/st-louis-rams/...nts-nfl-combine Jonathan Baldwin, lately at the back of the average 2011 NFL Mock Draft first round, was touted ahead of the NFL Combine as a player who could push deep into the first round with a performance that showed off his immense physical talents. The Pitt wide receiver might well have run himself out of the first day, putting together a 4.52 40-yard dash and apparently falling down during a receiving drill. Baldwin, who's had to answer questions about his work ethic since a contentious relationship with coach Dave Wannstedt became public, was widely expected to run a 4.3 40, which would have, given his 6-5, 230-pound frame, allayed a number of potential character concerns. But a weak performance at the Combine makes him extremely likely to fall to the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, held April 28-30. In the last SB Nation mock draft before the Combine he had fallen out of the first round entirely; his performance so far means he's unlikely to reenter it, let alone soothe the St. Louis Rams' concerns about Julio Jones' rising draft stock. slowburn
it amazes me how much a player's stock can rise or fall based on a combine performance. If scouted properly a players skill level should be ascertained prior to this dog and pony exhibition. Seems to me a sub par 40 and a fall down during a receiving drill is marginal in the big scheme of things. But then again, some teams could take him off their radar completely. Who the heck knows.....
CantonLegend
hes one of the better options coming out you look at his 40 time to say he isnt fast then watch any game from this season and see that he can run those deep routes trouble is that hes a possession receiver. it isnt a knock on him, its a compliment to his ability to go over the middle and take the hits. you guys may say he has an attitude or character concerns, but all he said was that his role in pitts offense was hurting his draft stock. who wouldn't be upset if the school they went to was hurting their chances of making more money at their next job. its the same thing but you guys expect the same cookie cutter answers everytime somebody asks a question and when somebody says something different you either say he has character issues or hes a golden child......but life doesnt work like that
secondwave
I think that's where the problem lies. The 40 is useless unless they run in pads. AJ Green is a great example of someone who runs just as fast in pads as he does without. A lot of players are nowhere near their timed speeds in pads. choco
no thanks....see enough of him at pitt. headcase and selfish, and not even really that good.
calfoxwc
He isn't even on my list. When you are acting like a T.O. in -college-, then just wait til the Bengals nab him, or some other team takes a chance on him. Nope.
Erie Dawg
Speed is nice but hands are good too. as long as we don't end up with another braylon edwards, fast but dropped the easy throws and sometimes caught the near impossible throws. choco
ahem.....nailed it. Baldwin does exactly as expected Well, unfortunately we have some bad news in the Why isn't Jonathan Baldwin at practice story that developed yesterday. According to Nick Wright on Twitter, Jonathan Baldwin and Thomas Jones got into a locker room scuffle a few days ago. The result? Baldwin injured his hand wrist and will reportedly miss the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs preseason. We'll continue to update this story as it develops..... CantonLegend
Once again, you were wrong. You amuse me, court jester. thomas jones is known for starting shit. thats why hes bounced around so many teams in such a short period of time. he wears out his welcome very quickly. baldwin isnt the concern here. the only reason this story has any legs is because baldwin got hurt...otherwise nobody cares because locker room fights happen all the time

marcus
Some where out there in the NFL Universe there's going to be a savvy coach that's going to make a tight end out of this kid and all that bullshit by the combine blowhards will mean nothing. There are plenty of players in the league that the combine idiots said were shit and a coach made something out of them. There are times when they're spot on with their assessments but it's 50/50.
