Harry Buffalo
Rodgers Signs With Saints Apprentaly he turned down an Extra 2 Million to play for the Saints because he wanted to be on a good team I don't blame him for turning down the money. They guy is financially secure. Would be funny if the Saint's didn't even have a winning season next year though.

Would be funny if the Saint's didn't even have a winning season next year though. They will get it when they see his practice habits...maybe thats why he turned down the extra money. I can see it now "But I turned down the extra money, you have to let me sit three out of four plays..."

That is why the Browns released him, pure and simple. I don't think it had anything to do with him taking off plays or his attitude or anything else. I don't think it had anything to do with him taking off plays or his attitude or anything else. ive heard several reports both from the media and from the coaches that give different reasons for his release i dont really care why he was cut because ive seen him play. the saints have a history(although short) of turning "trouble makers" into team players. guys like jeremy shockey, jonathan vilma, and carl nicks all had character concerns but we brought them in and they turned into leaders rogers doesnt have any character issues as far as im concerned and his play speaks for itself. the browns may not have needed a DT that missed a couple plays every few series but the saints rotate a lot of different personel packages in on defense and our D coordinator will definitly find a place for the big dude he fits in both the 4-3 and the 3-4 and we run a very healthy dose of both of them

Add in the Browns need to get younger just about everywhere on the defensive front seven, guy wouldn't fit in the long term plans. Rodgers was due a contract in the Haloti Ngata and John Abraham range, and he was playing like a scrub. Glad you think 14 tackles and 2 sacks is worth $7 million- I don't. That was down from 60 or so tackles in his pro bowl years. If he returns to that form- great- the Saints got a bargain.

CantonLegend
You're dead on Larry. Dungeons and Dragons are very different from football. He is still learning. i appreciate your input and i thank you for your contribution, but what does that have to do with anything. im glad youre a browns fan cuz the saints dont want you

Like someone said, he was due a 7 mill. salary. He is not a 7 mill. player. Maybe a 1 or 2 mill. For 1 or 2 mill. the Browns may have been able to use him...or, maybe, even at that they still may have wanted to clean house. New HC, DC etc. They may have wanted to started fresh. Browns have Rubin for his position. I am sure they want some younger, fresher bodies on that front line.
Nw220
Yeah we defentily need to adress this part of are defense if we want to do anything next year, i think we have depth just no playmakers except for maybe Rubin...I wouldnt mind a Second Round pick on Marvin Austin i think he will be good at the next level

Your stat card just got trumped, ditto, "he'll play so much better on the great Saints D-line". Now if I gave you the choice either\or, you still going to take Rodgers? I doubt it. PS Rodgers was real happy to be leaving Detroit and playing for the Browns too- you can look it up. His work ethic consists of eating mass quantities of broasted chicken. Get him down in Nawlins, and pray he doesn't bloat to 400 pounds of gumbo. And you wonder why he was hurt all season? The human body wasn't designed to carry all that weight. I doubt it. because rubin played more....that has nothing to do with anything. numbers still dont mean anything for d tackles. its common sense....their roles consist of a lot more than just getting numbers PS Rodgers was real happy to be leaving Detroit and playing for the Browns too- you can look it up.
