Louisville Slugger
If you could bring in who you wanted to go after this offseason (draft and free agency but lets try to keep it realistic) what would your 2012 roster look like? Free agency: Mike Sims-Walker-WR- It looks unlikely we will get a shot at A.J. Green but we have no one to line up across from Massaqoui. Sims-Walker is inconsistent but by far better then anyone we have on the roster. Tommie Harris-DT- this signing depends on if he will take an incentive laden contract. He was a pro bowl DT but for whatever reason his play took a downward spiral. We currently have a blank space next to Rubin on our DL. Jayme Mitchell recieved praise for his pass rushing skills but will he be a DE or a DT? Regaurdless we could strike gold with Harris and thats the kind of signing that could elevate this team. Richard Marshall-CB- With Wright and Browns poor play last year we need an insurance policy. Given his high salary if Brown wants to make the roster he may want to look at a move to FS. We are all aware of Wrights play last year but I think he has the coverage ablities to be a servicable #2. My main problem with Wright is that he simply cant tackle. Andre Carter-DE- We have alot of question marks on the DL. Signing Carter will atleast give us a solid pass rusher on 3rd downs. His lack of production last season came from playing out of postion. He is an above average 4-3 DE but a horrible 3-4 OLB. WAS should have known he wasnt a fit before they switched defenses, thats why he left San Fran. Jason Snelling-RB/FB- As much as it hurts me to say this, Vickers isnt going to be back. Vickers is a great road grader but he cant catch or make plays. Snelling isnt in Vickers class as a run blocker but should be able to manage. With defenses trying to figure out if Hillis or Snelling is goning to run or block our RBs wont need to be road graders. Snelling also has soft hands coming out of the back field. Matt Roth-DE/OLB- We havent resigned him yet but I have high hopes. He has a high motor and even if he is a better suit for the 3-4 I think he can be productive in the 4-3. F. Womack-RG- Luavao isnt ready and we have nothing at the RG position we need to resigin him until Luavao or someone can take his place. Draft: RD 1- C. Jordan-DE/DT-Cal- Some people may consider this a reach but I like him more then Bowers and Fairley. The only issue we will run into is figuring out where he will be more productive. He was a 3-4 DE at Cal but is 6'4" 287 lbs and ran a 4.71 40. I like him as a DE but I cant seem him have any problems transitioning into an UT next to Rubin. RD 2- T. Young-WR-Boise St- Alot of people are wet in the panties over big recievers but Young has the potential to be the 2nd best WR in the draft, and when that 2nd place is under A.J. Green that could be a pretty high ceiling. Hell play out of the slot but could easily out play Massapoui for the #1 spot. RD 3- J. Barksdale-RT-LSU- This pick would be a steal. obviously Pashos has a problem staying on the field but if we draft Barksdale Pashos wont have to worry about it. Barksdale is a good run blocker and is nimble enough to slow down speed rushers. Picture Phil Loadholt and you pretty much got the same player. RD 4- C. McCarthy-MLB Miami- His big knock was his athleticism but after running a 4.64 40 he showed that he has enough speed to play ILB. His durability is an issue but Gocong will be our Mike at the start of the season so it wont be devastating if he goes down. RD 5- D. Carter-RB-Syracuse- I dont see him dropping thi far but as a sort RB (5'9") teams might shy away from him. As a Louisvile fan I've seen him play and I know he is the real deal. If he is there in th 5th we wont have to worry if Hardesty goes down with a torn nail folicle this season. RD 5- R. Stanzi-QB-Iowa- Nothing spectacular about this guy but he is a great field general. He probably has the ceiling of a Chad Pennington but more then likely hell be similar to Ken Dorsey. RD 6- M. Mohamed-LB- Cal- He isnt a very athletic LB but is a big boy who was super productive(111 tackles). Played in a 3-4 whether or not he can play the 4-3 I prefer to keep him away from a team like the Steelers. Has the potential of E.J. Henderson so he will be worth a look in the 6th. RD 6- C. Jones-S-TCU- Productive in college but didnt make much noise until he ran a 4.34 40. We need someone to take the FS spot away from M. Adams, but unfortuantly I dont think Jones will be doing it this year. QB- C. McCoy S.Wallace R. Stanzi(rd 5) RB- P. Hillis M. Harnesty D Carter(rd 5) FB- J. Snelling(fa) WR- M. Massaquoi T. Young (rd 2) J. Cribbs WR- M. Sims-Walker(fa) B. Robiskie C. Mitchell TE- B. Watson E. Moore G. Estinada LT- J. Thomas LG- E. Stienbach B. Yates C- A. Mack S. Vallos RG- F. Womack S. Luavao RT- J. Barksdale (rd 3) T. Pashos DE- M. Roth M. Benard DT- A. Rubin S. Paxon B. Schafering DT- T. Harris J. Mitchell DE- C. Jordan (rd 1) A. Carter(fa) SAM- S. Fujita M. Muhamed(rd 6) MIKE- C. Gocong C. McCarthy (rd 4) WILL- D. Jackson K. Miava CB- J. Haden R. Marshall(fa) D. Smith CB- E. Wright C. Francis FS- S. Brown M. Adams SS- T. Ward C. Jones(rd 6) K- P. Dawson P- R. Hodges LS- R. cambridgeho
Not to bad, but we need to address the Safety spot alittle better than assuming Brown will be playing there and not as a back up corner. As for wr I would throw a nice penny down for Sidney Rice, he would be the vertical threat and that would leave Momass as the 2. Momass would be a great 2 and Robo is best suited for the short routes. We are most likely 2 years from playoff material, the D is going to be what holds us back right now. DawgTracker
To start with Mangini would still be the coach with some help on the offensive side of the ball. I would be looking for help in the same general places WR, DE/DT, RT, LB
Unsympathetic
MSW is far too inconsistent to be worth the massive dollars it will take to pry him away from JAC. Tommie Harris? Andre Carter? Sure, why not - but only if they're willing to take relatively cheap deals. Those guys have not played well in quite some time. Richard Marshall is good, but also not worth the contract he will require to move. FA is never the solution.
Harry Buffalo
First off I would be more worries about getting someone in for Wright that someone in for Brown. Brown's level of play wasn't bad (except for the play where he tripped against Cinci and Owens scored, but really that can happen to anyone) until after his shoulder injury, which most people would have gone out with but he kept playing. Also you have us using an extra 5th round pick, we only have one, and if we take Jordan in the 1st, expect it to be because we traded back, not because we take him at 6. Louisville Slugger
Sims-Walker is a free agent because JAX cut him. He might be a little expensive but hes not gonna want as much as Rice or Floyd. I actually like Sims-Walker better then those 2 anyways. Carter put up double digits sacks in 2007 and 2009 both while playing as a DE. He is getting older and I dont think its going to take much to pring him in he is coming off a 2.5 sack year and played in all 16 games. As far as Harris goes like I said give him a nice incentive laden contrat. I wasnt suggesting throw a bunch of garunteed money at him.

I dont know why i thought we had 2 5th my bad. I would love to trade back and still get Jordan but hes a top 10 talent. I have no problem with taking him with our 1st. Nw220
Theres no way i would take Cam Jordan at the #6 overall pick, if we traded back i wouldnt have a problem with it i like him alot as well, same goes for JJ Watt....No for Mike Sims Walker id much rather have someone like Sidney Rice, or Steve Smith (NYG).. And if theres no Green id take a draft like this 1.Daquan Bowers or Marcell Dareus.(AJ Green) if hes there 2.Drake Nevis or Marvin Austin,Raheem Moore...also Martez Wilson if hes there as well 3.Marcus Gilbert or J.Barksdale 4.Casey Matthews if we dont take Martez in the 2nd 5.Damacrus Van Dyke 6a.Kendall Hunter/Jacquizz Rodgers 6b.Greg McCelroy or Best Kicker avaliable
Louisville Slugger
If AJ Green is there then I would take him also. Jordan and Dareus are about equal in my book but Dareus has taken that #1 DT spot from Fairly so I have a good feeling he wont fall to us. Someone who I do see falling to us is Von Miller. Everyone has him projected to go to arizona but that seems extremely unlikely. A good franchise(key word good, the jets fit that bill) never takes a rush LBer that high. Keep in mind the Cards run a 3-4 so he wont be playing DE there. Depending on whos available they may go for Peterson, Fairley, or even a wildcard like Mark Ingram. To sum it all up I cant see Miller going in the top 5.
Squintz
If I were GM I'd be playing golf in Arizone without a care in the world because Randy 'Silver Spoon' Lerner would have given me a 5-year $20 mil contract extension. I'd be sitting back counting my guaranteed cash!! It's the 'American Way'!!! I'm just glad Randy is nowhere to be seen in the current contract negotiations with the NFLPA. Nw220
I actually do see Von Miller going to Arizona, he plays the 3-4 linebacker with a rush and compares to Clay Matthews and Lamarr Woodley at that position in the next level
