He probably did, but I didn't hear what he said. Pretty much assume his position is as you stated, Steve. Illegal Immigration, alone, made me turn a blind eye to McCain. It also includes the ones who come here to improve their quality of life and don't have the $5500 cash to pay for citizenship. The ones who bust their ass 7 days a week and damn near kill themselves working. The ones who push caravans of shopping carts through the grocery store & Walmart on payday - damn near paying a mortgage worth of sales tax. The ones who's faces light up & glow when my Dad & I spend 12-18 hours on a Saturday once every two months to give free dental care to. You know, the ones who make damn sure they know how to say "thank you" in English (even when Dad & me try to impress them by butchering their language). Grow up. However whether or not these are 'good people' or not, they should not be here and are sucking resources that we can ill afford to provide. Look at Prison Demographics, violent crime, sponging human services, etc. The problem is, as I've said time and time again - the Conservatives want the cheap labor - low pay and no benefits and the Liberals want the votes and the illusion that there is a need for more and more public dole public spending. I have no problem with an orderly system that includes accountable sponsorship, orderly registration, etc. You have a record, you get deported. I can speak a good deal of spanish (I was joking about butchering the language earlier) but there is still a barrier there. However, the look of relief on their face when they realize "You're going to help me" is really something else. Before I went back to school, I was in charge of about 60 painters. 4 of them were hispanic (and not legal). They were subcontracted to us through a labor trade service and were paid the same wages as my other "top painters & foremen" plus an additional fee to the subcontracting agency for what I can only imagine was risk coverage because I doubt taxes were being paid. Those 4 guys out of 60 were the only ones I trusted. The only ones that I could put on a job and be guaranteed results. When overtime came around, guess who I was going to? They made me look good. They made me trustworthy in the eyes of my clients. I didn't have to babysit. But like you say, they were surely burning up some resources that they werent contributing to. But I felt (still feel) like they made up for it in other ways. In other words, I could rattle off a few different groups of people that ought to be deported before the hispanics. (I'm for amnesty, getting them a SSN, and collecting taxes on them b/c they're already here. Then close the border.) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What you said is true, but you took offense where none was intended. You see, simply differentiate between the bad immigrants from the good immigrants, and you solve most of the problem. Why I can't say we should not let Obama give welfare share the wealth bs to all of the gangs that come here in droves, is beyond me.
