Browns Draft Factoids

In lieu of Trivia questions I will simply here provide you with certain Browns Draft Historical Factoids. (all since 1950) No need to tax your brains, just read and react if you wish.

1. The Cleveland Browns have drafted 3 of the Top 20 winningest coaches: Don Shula, Chuck Noll....and I count Bill Cowher as, though he was not "drafted" by the Browns, he was signed by them as an undrafted free agent coming out of colleg.

2. The Browns have selected in their drafts the following Hall of Famers: Doug Atkins, Willie Davis, Jim Brown, Henry Jordan, Gene Hickerson, Bobby Mitchell, Dick LeBeau, Paul Warfield, Leroy Kelley, Ozzie Newsome. I note that if they had kept the likes Davis, Jordan and LeBeau, the Browns and not the Packers may have been the dominant team of the 60s as well.

3. Famous "Names" that have been drafted by the Browns. By this I mean they drafted people with names that belonged actually to other famous people:

John Sandusky (noted pedaphile), Jack Jones, singer; Howard Johnson, Hotelier; Bob White, noted bird; John Brown, abolitionist; Frank Baker, noted baseball player (Babe Ruth broke his home run record); Walter Johnson, another baseballer--pitcher; Bob Oliver, another baseballer; Brian Murray (with "Doyle" noted comedic actor); John Smith, noted explorer; Henry Ford, auto manufacturer; Mike Wallace, recently deceased TV journalist; Michael Jackson, singer

4. The Browns draftee that is currently active that has been playing in the league the longest is Gerard Warren, extremely mediocre defensive lineman.

5. Since 1999 the Browns the only players the Browns have drafted that have made the Pro Bowl are; Alex Mack 1, Joe Thomas 5, Braylon Edwards 1, Kellen Winslow Jr. 1, Ryan Pontbriand 2.

6. During his term as HC/GM of the Cleveland Browns, Bill Belichick drafted only 1 player who ever made the Pro Bowl: Eric Turner, drafted in 1991 before he coached his first game. (honestly, I am not certain was even named HC when E-rock was drafted, but I assume so)

7. The player with the longest career from the Browns 1999 draft class was TE James Dearth. He played with the Browns 1 year and with the Jets for 8 years....but as a TE, his total career statistics were: 3 catches, 10 yards, 1 TD. He must have been a special team specialist or a long snapper or something to last in the league that long and do absolutely nothing.

8. Since 1950 the Browns have drafted players from the following Ohio colleges: Toledo, Bowling Green, John Carroll, Dayton, Ohio St. Xavier, Miami, Oh., Wittenberg, Kent St. Case Western Reserve, Ohio U. Baldwin-Wallace, Youngstown St. Akron, Defiance, Heidelberg

9. In the first round the Browns have selected players from the following schools....in order of number of draftees:

He was a long-snapper.
