More Of The Same Stuff Trivia

Here is some more trivia. Same old shit, different day?:

1. James-Michael Johnson is the only player from the University of Nevada that the Browns have ever drafted in their history. However, one other very important/famous player in Browns history did atten Nevada. Who?

2. In their history before they drafted Trent Richardson, the Browns only ever once drafted a Running back from Alabama. Name him.

3. On 4 occasions a starting Quarterback in the Super Bowl was an Undrafted Free Agent. Name them.

4. Excluding games in which a starting QB was a UFA (because their draft selection number would be infinity), which Super Bowl had the lowest combined draft selection number of the two starting QBs? (example, if Peyton Manning and Eli Manning started a SB against each other their combined number would be 2, as is #1 + #1.) Hint: there has never been a #1 vs. #1 SB matchup.

5. Which Super Bowl had the HIGHEST combined draft selection number of the two starting QBs. (again, also discounting those in which a starting QB was a UFA)?

6. Except for the UFA, who was the lowest draft pick to ever start a Super Bowl.

7. Since the Combined Draft started in 1967, two Heisman Trophy winners were not taken anywhere in the NFL draft, i.e they were UFAs. Name the two.

8. Name those players who have garnered the "Triple Crown" of football, that is those who have accomplished ALL of the following: A. Won the Heisman Trophy B. Became the #1 overall selection of the NFL draft and C. have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

9. On only one occasion since the draft started in 1936 has the #1 overall pick of the NFL draft come from the same school in consecutive years. Name the school and the players

10. Name the only NFL franchise that has twice in that team's history selected the #1 pick in the draft in consecutive years.

(Example: the Browns have had the #1 overall pick in the draft is successive years once: 1999 and 2000. This team had this "opportunity" like this twice. Further hint: the Browns are not the answer):

Bonus: In the history of the draft, which college has had the most QBs selected in any round of the NFL draft?

OJ and Hornung are correct. (Sanders not, he was like the #3 pick in the draft the year he came out.

There is one other.

Has to be a RB. Can't be Dorsett, Dallas didn't draft that high then. Hmm. At a loss on that one.

I'll try a couple other questions:

#3

Kurt Warner has three starts, Jake Delhomme has one. You asked for four occasions, not four players.

#4

IF I'm reading this right, you want the two earliest draft picks that have faced each other.

Bradshaw and Staubach? Bradsahw was a #1 pick, Staubach was like #10 or #11. So Superbowl X and XIII.

#5

If I read this right as the two latest draft picks that have faced each other, (outside of UFA's) I'll say Steve Young and Humphries in Superbowl XXIX. Humphries was picked in the mid rounds of the draft, and Young was actually taken in the supplemental draft, putting him way down on the list. (Although could you say then that technically, Young was undrafted?)

#10

I figure four choices. Coin flip, I'm going to go with the Bucaneers.

Earl Campbell.

Dorsett went #2 the previous year btw (after Rickey Bell), Dallas had traded for somebodies draft pick that year.

Damn. Can't believe I couldn't think of Earl Campbell. Senility is a bummer.

Not Dorsett, though I see that Zombo gave the correct answer

You get the check. Warner 3 and Delhomme 1

Bradshaw and Staubach? Bradsahw was a #1 pick, Staubach was like #10 or #11. So Superbowl X and XIII.

Actually, Staubach was only like the 129th pick of the draft because all teams knew he had a 4 year military committment. So no, this answer is not correct.

#5

Actually, Young was drafted by the Bucs quite high, quite high, so this answer is incorrect

The Buccaneers is correct.

Here is some more trivia. Same old shit, different day?:

1. James-Michael Johnson is the only player from the University of Nevada that the Browns have ever drafted in their history. However, one other very important/famous player in Browns history did atten Nevada. Who?

Marion Motley attended Nevada. He was a free agent however, not a draftee.

2. In their history before they drafted Trent Richardson, the Browns only ever once drafted a Running back from Alabama. Name him.

Eddie Vesprille taken in 1964 with the #151st pick. I don't recall that he ever did anything for the Browns.

3. On 4 occasions a starting Quarterback in the Super Bowl was an Undrafted Free Agent. Name them.

Kurt Warner 3 times, twice with Rams, once with Cards. Jake Delhomme once with Panthers.

I believe it was SB V. It matched #2 overall pick Earl Morral against #5 overall pick Craig Morton. Their combined draft number totalled 7 points, lower than any other matchup.

5. Which Super Bowl had the HIGHEST combined draft selection number of the two starting QBs. (again, also discounting those in which a starting QB was a UFA)?

Super Bowl #2 had #200 Bart Starr vs. #188 Darryl Lamonica, draft position total: 388.

6. Except for the UFA, who was the lowest draft pick to ever start a Super Bowl.

Brad Johnson, starter for the Bucs in the 2002 season SB, was the 227th pick of the draft. Lowest of any SB starter (except Delhomme and Warner of course). Next lowest were #214 David Woodley, #209 Joe Kapp, and #200 Bart Starr....then #199 Tom Brady.

7. Since the Combined Draft started in 1967, two Heisman Trophy winners were not taken anywhere in the NFL draft, i.e they were UFAs. Name the two.

Charlie Ward the 1993 Heisman winner (who had announced that he would be playing basketball), and Jason White the 2003 winner.

8. Name those players who have garnered the "Triple Crown" of football, that is those who have accomplished ALL of the following: A. Won the Heisman Trophy B. Became the #1 overall selection of the NFL draft and C. have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

There are only 3:

Paul Hornung

OJ Simpson

Earl Campbell

Other potential "Triple Crown Winners" who were Heisman winners and #1 picks, but yet to be HOF inductees are: Jim Plunkett, Billy Sims, George Rogers, Bo Jackson, Vinny Testaverde, and still active Carson Palmer, plus young guns Sam Bradford and Cam Newton who are both off to good career starts.

Old timers who missed the boat because their careers didn't pan out to HOF status were Heisman winners/#1 picks Jay Berwanger (who never even played pro ball), Tom Harmon, Frank Sinkwich, Angelo Bertelli, Leon Hart, Billy Cannon, Ernie Davis, and Terry Baker.

9. On only one occasion since the draft started in 1936 has the #1 overall pick of the NFL draft come from the same school in consecutive years. Name the school and the players

1968 and 1969 Ron Yary and OJ Simpson of USC were drafted #1.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1976 and 1977 chose Leroy Selmon and Ricky Bell.

Then they had the #1 picks again in 1986 and 1987 when they selected Bo Jackson and Vinny Testaverde.

Bonus: In the history of the draft, which college has had the most QBs selected in any round of the NFL draft?

USC has had 22 QBs drafted throughout history. Second is Notre Dame with 21, then Stanford with 20, then Ohio State with 17 (though none of OSU's have ever been worth much)

Okay, I have to call you on #5. I didn't think my memory was that bad. Stan Humphries was drafted in the 6th round, #159 overall. Steve Young was the #1 pick of the Supplemental draft of 1984. He was the #337 pick that year, as the regular 12 round draft had 336 picks. I knew I remembered people knocking him about not getting drafted in the regular draft.

PS, wanna take a guess who the #3 and #4 picks of the supplemental draft that year were? Oh, a guy named Gary Zimmerman and a guy named Reggie White. Three HOFers in the first four picks of the Supplemental draft.

They were all in the supplemental draft because the USFL was disbanded, so Young was considered the top prospect coming out of the USFL. That was a great draft for the Browns, we picked up Kevin Mack and Mike Johnson in the first round and Ice Cube McNeil in the second round ... this wasn't your ordinary sup. draft.

Look at the names at the top of the draft ...

I am not buying that Steve Young was the #337 pick of the draft because he was taken in the Supplemental Draft. No, No, No.

He wasn't picked in the regular draft because he wasn't eligible for the regular draft. The same as Bernie Kosar. The Browns had to give up their first round pick to take Kosar and the Bucs had to do likewise.

I stick with my answer.
