I need to play catch up. I saw the NFL network do a brief history of the team but it was a part of a larger segment.

I looked up the team on wikipedia and saw the lengthy history but I want to know more about the team today.

I want to know about the stadium, the fans, tailgating and rivals! Thanks in advance!

To give you a brief history.

Joined the AAFC. Dominance.

Moved to the NFL. Dominance, but didn't win the title every yearlike in the AAFC.

80's. Awesome, but heartbreak.

90's. Moved to Baltimore. Modell is the devil.

99. Came back. Sucked ever since.

Random playoff appearance in 02.

Random success in 07 but fell short of the playoffs.

More misery.

Holmgren. Hope.

RICHARDSON.

Welcome aboard - you are in plenty of time before the bandwagon squeeler fans try to switch over....@@

Bad choice for a team but great choice of fans. You have been warned ... its nothing but anger and heart break.

Bullshit. It's a GREAT choice of a team. The Browns have a history of greatness and will return again, just like Douglas MacArthur.

LOL. I know man. I kid. Its been a little hard the past decade plus.

I suggest that you follow the the next ten easy steps

1. congratulate yourself for making a very wise choice

2. drink four Christmas ales within 1 hour (season dependent)

3. Buy as much orange and brown clothing as you can (guide is 3 months salary)

4. Read at least 10 books on our history

5. disregard the season stats from 2007 (that is still painful for me)

6. spend at least $1500 on seeing one game a year

7. But a rabid dog and train it by out-barking it (come in-handy in the dawg pound)

8. worship Kosar, Sipe, Ryan. Graham hourly ( see point 4 above)

9. Get a "ginger Ninja " tattoo

10. Buy a ticket to see the worlds best football franchise in history

Works for me

It's simple.

Oh. and be ready for a bumpy ride - but I think you chose a good off season to become a Browns fan - we are going to kill this year.

but what do i know.......

Here's another welcome, especially to a REAL Fan & not a front runner. While it has not gone smoothly in a long time, you'll find Brown's Fans to be the most loyal & passionate in the NFL. The only ones coming close to rivaling our loyalty are Green Bay Fans & that's pretty good company. As stated, the Browns have a very rich history & you'll learn plenty just by following this Board.

Enjoy the ride....We are a Team on the rise!

hey man, welcome aboard.

if you become a regular poster here you might wonder WTF is going on. believe me we are all die hard fans who want only the best for this team. AND if you keep reading some of our threads you might scratch your head wondering why some of us "on paper" seem to not get a long. this is not fan hate on hate, it's just some people don't agree on the way things are being done to achieve the status of once again being a powerhouse.

we all have our differences of opinion.

that being said (after reading posts of fan vs, fan) we all wan this team to succeed. bottom line.

let's hope you bring us the luck to take us over the top.

LET'S GO MFing BROWNS!!!

man dont know why you chose us but let me tell you summin about the browns they may suck but 4 weeks a year you will be the happiest man in the world for the other twelve it will feel like your girlfriend kicked you in the balls after she slept with your best friend the night after you proposed to her and she said yes.... yep thats how it feels. but seriously if you are into passionate fans, classic rivalaries,(steelers)blue collar cities and a hard working mentality then you have come to the right place people will ridicule you for your decision but you have chosen to be a fan of a team you like insted of a pussy ass front running son of a bi tch. and for that i respect you and welcome you into the lifetime joy and pain of being a cleveland browns fan. welcome!

Great to see more fans come aboard. We're due to turn things around- beat Philly on September 9th, that's the start!!!

welcome, WELCOME, BIG or small!!

to the BROWNIES RISE, and the steelers FALL!!

while the ravens AGE and cincy SELF-DESTRUCTS,

the Browns turn rival fans into miserable fucks!!

the path of the massochist may be heavily tread

but no longer will CLE fans be hanging their heads.

cuz Colt/Weeden and Little with Joe Thomas the Fisherman

WILL BE RAISING THE TROPHY, THANKS TO BELL COW TR3NT RICHARDSON!!!!!

Good choice.

Just keep reading.

and...what he said.

this Board will tell you as much about the Browns of late as any place. seriously, you can go back years on here. one-stop-shop if you will, this place is an awesome resource.

there's no better place i'd rather kill time than in an unread thread on TheBrownsBoard.

so welcome to the Brownies, and welcome to TBB.

but, as miktoxic alluded to: buckle up...and don't forget your helmet. ;)

The football tradition of Northeast Ohio is beyond compare. There is a reason the Pro Football Hall of Fame is here: because the NFL was founded right here. And more pro football championships have been won by teams here than anywhere else. (tied with Green Bay).

And the fans are the most loyal here. Its not like elsewhere where you win 4 titles in a decade, and within a few years only 35-40K show up for a game.

And here is a slogan to remember:

When the Tide turns, it will be a Tsunami.

I'm actually looking at yhe schedule now to see what home game I want to go to. What's a decent middle of the road place to crash for the weekend?

Where are some cool places to eat in town and to site see?

Posted

A lot of people will tell you probably fourth or sixth street because they're close to downtown. Unfortunately downtown kind of sucks unless you like the casino. I haven't been there but it just opened so it has to be nice. There are a lot of cool places in Cleveland and some of the nearby Suburbs like Lakewood but you're best to have a car if you want to get to any of them.

Well, don't make a commitment to a game yet- wait to see what game the Brits (Howie & G-Man) will be in town. It will be reunion weekend, with Board members flying or driving in from all over the country (and other countries). I believe there will be a special bash then.

As to cool places- the Rock & Roll HOF is next to the stadium, the Pro Football HOF is an hour drive down the road in Canton, as to neat places to eat- depends on your preferences and budget.

Hey Larry, we are going to be coming over for the OPENER this year!

First time we haven't come over in either november or December - so it's shorts and tee shirts this year!

We haven't booked yet but we will be with you all again for the opening weekend
