THE BROWNS BOARD

No real observance by our president either. just a "canned" response by the WH.

Here is a collection of what great leadership looks like - summed up as pin drop moments....

JFK'S

Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when

DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US

Military out of France as soon as possible.

Rusk responded,

"Does that include those who are buried here?"

DeGaulle

Did not respond.

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

When in England ,

At a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the

Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of

'empire building' by George Bush.

He answered by saying,

"Over the years, the United States has sent many of

Its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom

Beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for

In return is enough to bury those that did not

Return."

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

There was a conference in France

Where a number of international engineers

Were taking part, including French and American. During a break,

One of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you

Heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft

Carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he

Intend to do, bomb them?"

A Boeing engineer

Stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three

Hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are

Nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to

Shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to

Feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand

Gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a

Dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and

>From their flight deck. We have eleven such ships;

How many does France have?"

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

A U.S. Navy Admiral

Was attending a naval conference that included

Admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French

Navies At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large

Group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries.

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a

French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many

Languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that

We always have to speak English in these conferences rather than

Speaking French?"

Without hesitating,

The American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the

Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't

Have to speak German."

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

AND

THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...

Robert Whiting,

An elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.

At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport

In his carry on.

"You

Have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked

Sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting

Admitted that he had been to France

Previously.

"Then

You should know enough to have your passport ready."

The American said,

"The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."

"Impossible..

Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !"

The American senior

Gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he

Quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at OmahaBeach on D-Day in

1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen

To show a passport to."

You

Could have heard a pin drop.

Yeah, who needs land when you have people who need to buy M16's? And who gives a shit who owns the land so long as Halliburton owns the rights to the oil underneath the land.

I'm not trying to sully the memory of anything except the copy&paste, chainmail bullshit that hooker posted. Seriously? You think that crap belongs here?

If you think a politicized chainmail is the way to honor the soldiers who died on D-Day, you're an idiot.

Vapor, that was a dirty form of knee jerk attention getting.

Libs do that. You can't leave this thread alone?

You should ban yourself, seriously.

Libs always love to diss whatever is respected. For sick reasons.

There you go again cal. All EMOTION in your posts. All you do is FEEL and provide these knee jerk responses.

Plus you didn't add anything to the thread. Just an insult of Vapor and liberals. I heard from someone doing that is wrong but I forget who

Pitiful try at irony.

For the last time, I will try to get you to be serious for just a second.

Libs look at issues emotionally, and react emotionally.

Issues. The word "issues". Nobody ever said conservatives don't have emotions.

Libs do not make decisions about how they stand on issues rationally, with analysis.

They just emote, and regurgitate what their lib professors teach them, or their lib friends

teach them.

Vapor spewed out in anger over the respect to those who fought in WWII.

Why? Fair's post was exactly on the money.

But when others are respected, and other things are respected, you libs

hate that...

because you don't respect anything, or anyone else. You don't even respect yourselves.

Hence, the angry knee jerk reaction for no reason.

You libs just keep proving what we say about you is exactly correct. Amazing.

But getting back to the subject of the thread -

it took serious honor, integrity, and guts to fight WWII,

gear up for WWII, and change and save the world.

That's the "Greatest Generation" for great reason.

Imagine the balls it took just to leave the landing craft and try and storm the beach. I doubt any of the hippies on this board crying about oil contracts could have mustered up the fortitude to do it. They'd probably be 4-F ers hanging out at home trying to get in the women's pants while the menfolk were taking back France.

Or you could get out of the 60s (hippies? really?) and realize that if you really were that tough you wouldn't have to keep posting about how tough you were.

I think we've heard enough of your "I'm more of a man than people who I disagree with politically" routine. It's a bit sad.

When you realize your opinion means nothing to me at all you might stop giving it. Just put me back on ignore and go about your business of trying to be "right" all the time with people that care about your arguements

You don't know jack shit about my politics and I never claimed to be "tougher" than anyone. You as usual just interpret it however you want. I find your constant need to be "right" about something sad. Is that how you treat your family? Like a patronizing harpy that needs to be right all the time?

Did going to college get you out of the draft back then? That'd be me.

Or if I was older I'd be building and designing shit for the military

Yeah, how dare you try to be "correct "

Where do you get off telling people their info is wrong. This is America! You don't have to be correct to believe something.

Note that I clearly didn't say correct. I said "right" as in hecks classic arguement: "nuh uh! I'm right!"

Heck just has a compulsive desire to tell everyone how smart he is and win all arguements real or (mostly) imagined. It's classic narcissism, and a mental deficiency. You should be urging him to seek emotional help instead of egging on his delusions of grandeur.

The force was mostly volunteer then. If all your friends leaving to help the cause couldn't shame you into fighting, you were probably a coward. Now you could have been a military engineer, a seabee or something. That would be perfectly acceptable service

gotta love patriotic peer pressure

And yeah hopefully brains and a degree could get me out of the line of fire. Hell, a degree back then would have been much more impressive

Dude, I can't help it if the last argument we got in you were all kinds of wrong and couldn't admit it. What do you want me to do, hold you? Sorry it smarted so much.

All I'm saying is that it makes you look a little petty when you keep saying that the "hippies" on the board - I'm guessing that'd be me, Woody, and Vapor - are all pussies because ...what? Because we don't think you're right about some things, but think you're right about others?

I'm just letting you know that your chest thumping is getting a little old. Or should I say: stop being such a wingnut pussy who hates America and would never defend it. Is that better?

So you're a psychologist now? Tell me more about the DSM.

Chest thumping? I will not help you feed your illness. If my opinions offend you, and my statements fail to stroke your delicate, narcissistic ego, there's an ignore button. You may feel free to push it, its a free country, no ones stopping you. Woody is fun to trade jabs with. He takes it like a man, gives it back, and doesn't get a sandy vagina about it. You're a possible emotional psychopath with a terrible and dark need for attention that I refuse to fill for you. Go ahead and get the last word in, then seek what you require elsewhere.

I can't. I'm too big a hippie and my sandy vagina precludes me from defending myself, especially when faced with a man of such obvious steel and courage.

Also, 4-Fers. You mean like Rush Limbaugh? Ted Nugent?
