The best Obama rumor yet

According to Atlas Shrugs, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. didn't actually father Barack Hussein Obama Jr.

Who did, you might ask? Malcolm X, of course.

I love how people are responding to this craziness.

Ezra Klein:

Granted, it's probably (okay, certainly) not true. But if that crazy person who runs Atlas Shrugged is right and Barack Obama really is the son of Malcolm X, that would make my day. Honestly, who wouldn't give Malcolm props for that one? And think there's anyway we can fit Tupac into the bloodline? Or maybe Obama actually is Tupac? You know that whole shooting was some bullshit, right?

Ta-Nehisi Coates:

So the new rumor is that Barack is actually the son of Malcolm X. No seriously. Dude look at the resemblance! And they actually have a very similar speaking style. Some may be tempted to see this as the event that will lose us the election. But I have a different take--Barack Obama isn't black, he isn't even biracial. Dig it--Malcolm's grandfather was white. Barack's mother was was white. So Barack isn't really half-black--he's about a third, tops. That has to be worth a few points in the polls, no? I think this news will swing Montana and Georgia.

To me, this is the most revealing part of Atlas Shrugs/Pam Geller's post:

Barack Hussein Obama Sr., Tom Mboya, and Philip Ochieng, all share common physical features of the Kenyan Luo tribe: Modest stature under six feet, round faces, small chins, wide set eyes, slanted back foreheads, and retracted hairlines…none of these features are shared by Malcolm X and Barack Hussein Obama Jr.
She seems to be assuming that all of his physical characteristics would come from his father. Considering that many bloggers have commented on how much Barack Jr. looks like his maternal grandfather, Geller's argument just seems odd.

Either she makes that claim because she's working hard to certify the absurd, or she made an assumption that the black component of his identity is somehow controlling or dominant. That's an easy mistake to make, but it's also disturbing when it's used in a pseudo-physiological argument - it's got a one-drop rule kind of feel to it.

Michael Moore's an idiot.

And yet one of the most influential, visible and beloved spokesmen for your party.

It's not my party (I'm a registered independent, just like Bill O'Reilly). And I don't think Moore qualifies for any of those distinctions you've bestowed upon him.

He's a well-known Bush-hater, but let's see how much influence he has when the Democrats actually have to govern.

My guess is none.

No, I didn't vote in the primary. But I'll make sure to do so in 2012 - Sarah Palin's gonna need my help.

Palin-Jindal 2012--Feel the Excitement!

Speaking of idiotic rumors, AOL News (you know, the news site of record) has on their front page "Nastiest Rumors Never Reported" with the sub-headline "The Mainstream Media Kept Quiet--Couldn't Back Up These Six Claims." You mean Obama doesn't eat babies? McCain wasn't responsible for convincing Lee to order Pickett's Charge?

Yes, that lousy MSM, always burying the truth simply because there's no evidence of it.

Oddly enough, the unsubstantiated Obama rumors have all made their way to this board...no idea how that could have happened.

What an awesome rumor!

Yet another rumor maintains McCain insulted fellow vacationers during a trip to Fiji before his first run for president. Among his supposed mean deeds: forcing people to listen to him read aloud from the works of William Faulkner. The source of the story was an e-mail that has been attributed to two different women. The editor of the left-wing newsletter CounterPunch said he concluded "it's a phony." (Source: Politico.com)

Uh AOL is both one of Shep's "go to" sources AND a big big recipient of Obama money thru sponsorship AND a tool of Time Warner which is out there in the left lane.

He may not be, but I'm sure the fried chicken and watermelon food stamp mock-ups, the Curious George t-shirts, and the like are the products of people who support McCain because they have serious doubts about Obama's health care proposal. But hey, he interrupted a woman who started to call Obama an Arab, so clearly he's done all he can to put a stop to that kind of thing.

So you think those were planned by the McCain team?

Good for you Den.

Actually I'd say those are not so much McCain supporters as Obama detractors.

But if that's your take .......

(And McCain actually did sponsor the research that created AIDS to wipe out the black community, right?)

Don't forget 'Socialist" is a code word!!!
