I'm merely pointing out a seemingly correct observation on Plato's part.

 

What percentage of citizen's property is now confiscated as opposed to 1776?

(No idea on the figures but I'd guess a pretty big increase, no?)

I think the duties imposed on the colonists were about 1/8th what was imposed on mainland Brits, so that isn't a fair comparison.

 

Plus, the 16th Amendment didn't come around until the early 20th century. And tax rates are lower now than they were in the 1970's.

Plus income tax rates are only part of it.

Just look at your buck and try to guess how many times it's been stepped on....
