The Gipper Posted August 15, 2014 Author Report Posted August 15, 2014 Here is some trivia on the epic suckages of sport: Answers....for anyone interested in learning about sports. 1. Since 1960 4 NFL teams have failed to win a game in an NFL season. Name those 4 teams. The 1960 Cowboys went 0-11-1 The 1976 Buccaneers were 0-14 The 1982 Colts were 0-8-1 in a stike shortened year The 2008 Lions were 0-16 2. Prior to 1960 there were several other teams that did not win a game. There was one team however that did not win a game in 2 consecutive seasons. Name that team. The Cardinals, sorta. In 1943 the Chicago Cardinals went 0-10. In 1944 the combined Card-Pitt team went 0-10 also, though the NFL technically says that Card-Pitt team was a separate franchise from either the Cards or Steelers. Due to the war many teams had merged. But still....they separated after that and I think it can be fairly said that the Cardinals didn't win a single game for nearly 3 years. 3. Which NBA team had the worst winning percentage in history? The 2011-2012 Charlotte Bobcats nka Hornets. at 7-59 for a .106 win pct. 4. Since 1900 which MLB team had the worst winning pct. Hint: it was NOT the 1962 NY Mets....who did lose the most games in history, but did not have the worst win %. The 1916 Philadelphia As were 36-117 for a .235 win pct. The next two worst in history were the 1935 Boston Braves at 38-115 for .248. Those 1962 Mets were 40-120 for .250. But those 120 losses were the most. 5. Since 1900 what team had the longest losing streak in MLB history? The 1961 Philadelphia Phillies lost 23 in a row. Longest since 1900. 6. Which 2 NBA teams share the longest losing streak in NBA history? The 2010-11 Cavaliers and the 2013-14 76ers each lost 26 straight. FYI, the second longest losing streak also belonged to the Cavs, 24 games over two seasons. In other words, the 2011 team broke its own record for epic suckage. Now, next year I expect at least one 20+ game win streak, no? 7. Which college Division 1 (FBS) football had the longest losing streak in history? That is Northwestern, 34 games from 1979-1982 8. Which NCAA basketball team....at any level, men or women, lost the most consecutive games in history? The Cal Tech Beavers men's team lost 207 consecutive games. The next closest losing steak was the Schreiner College women's team who had an 83 game losing streak. (Schriener FYI, located in Kerrville TX, home of JFF) That Cal Tech team must have had a generation of Sheldon Coopers, Leonard Hoffman's, etc. playing for them) 9. Which NFL team had the longest losing streak in history? The 1976-77 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 26 consecutive losses. 10. Which NFL team: A. Has currently gone the longest without making a playoff appearance? The Buffalo Bills since 1999 B. Has currently gone the longest without winning a playoff game? Cincinnati Bengals since 1990 C. Has currently gone the longest without appearing in THE championship game? SB or NFL/AFL title game) The Detroit Lions, since 1957 (FYI, Browns are second....since 1965) D. Went the most years in history without winning a postseason game? The Chicago/St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals went from 1948-1997, through 50 years and through 3 cities before winning a postseason game. FYI, the Steelers hold second place on that board....39 years from 1933 to 1972. 11. Besides the Cubs, whom we all know have gone over 100 years without winning a World Series, which 6 MLB teams have now gone 45 or more years without winning a World Series. (and have played for that entire period)? The Indians since winning in 1948. The Rangers and Astros since those teams inceptions in the early 60s....(Rangers began in Wash DC). And the Brewers , Padres, and Nationals(Expos) since their inception if the late 60s. 12. Besides the Cubs, what 3 other MLB teams went the longest in history without winning a World Series? The White Sox went 88 years from 1917 to 2005. The Red Sox went 86 years from 1918 to 2004. The Phillies went 77 years from 1903 to 1980. And 4th is the Indians, 65 years and counting since 1948 13. Which 2 MLB teams have now gone 20 or more years without making a postseason appearance? Kansas City Royals have gone since 1985 without a playoff appearance, and the Toronto Blue Jays have gone since 1993. Both teams won the WS those years, and haven't been back since. But both have a good chance of making it this year. 14. Which current major league market has now gone the longest without winning a World Series? In gross years, it has been Washington DC which last won a WS in 1924.....90 years. But, note: DC did not have a team from 1972 to 2004. A span of 32 years. So they actually have gone only 58 years of on field play without winning. And yes, it is Cleveland that has gone the most number of on field play years without a WS....65-66 years now. 15. There have been to date 175 Quarterbacks that "qualify" for the career lead in the "Passer rating statistic". And you would think that those at the top of the list in passer rating would likely have more HOF members than those at the bottom.......but guess what......that is NOT the case. There are currently 4 people in the Top 25 that in the HOF......and, there are also 4 ranked from 150-175 on that list who are also in the HOF. Name those 4 HOF QBs that are ranked from 1-25....and name those 4 QBs who are ranked from 150-175 who are also in the HOF. Per PFR, the only 4 QBs in the Top 25 that are in the HOF right now are: Montana, Young, Marino, and Otto Graham. And the 4 who are in the HOF who are ranked from 150-175 in career passer rating are: Bobby Layne, Bob Waterfield, Joe Namath, and George Blanda. Now, a number who are in the Top 25 currently WILL get in one day, like Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Peyton,
