our OLB'ers finally get home

This was easily Krugers best game as a Brown, one of the only defensive players that was balling from start to finish. Rest of the defense caught up in the 2nd half but by then there was already 24 points on the board. Secondary was awful. If it weren't for our pass rush this game would have been a blowout. When Ben had time to throw it was a dissection. I'm still not hopeful for our season for this reason....our pass rush isn't gonna be this good the whole season. The moment any team has an extra second or so to throw the ball...we're getting torched. Run defense was a little suspect today as well which surprised me. Missed tackles all over the place. Dansby's supposed to be one of the best ILB"ers in the league? I saw him make one standout play.

nothing to be confused about....our OLB'ers were beating their man. Problem was Ben being able to extend the play cause he would spill out through the interior. That's where our interior lineman and the ILB'ers didn't do a good job of grabbing hold of him. But when your OLB'ers have been so consistently lame the interior feels the pressure to be the guys supplying all the rush...so they create gaps as they get upfield.

There were a bulk of times the interior line didn't generate the push. That's why I'd like to see Armonty at the 3/4 tech on passing downs. He has the size and strength, but the speed to harass guards and make them back peddle into the QB.

In 3rd and longs I think Armonty and Sheard should be on the interior. However the development from Kruger is very, very encouraging. Credit the coaching staff for that. If I"m the Browns I'm trying to make sure look as good as possible right now because I think there is some trade value there.

I disagree with putting Armonty in the interior much. I want him on the tackles. I'd like to see him start subbing in for Kruger and Sheard at OLB. Obviously he'll still take snaps as a 34 DE....but I'd like to see us get him off on the edges more. His best work is the power edge rush and up until yesterday he was hands down the best at doing that on our team. Kruger is making a good case for himself now though. Last year he couldn't power carve the edge for shit. It looks like he finally got that skill down. Hopefully this makes his bull even better. That's what I want to see out of our power edge's...a great bull rush ability but the tackles have to respect the outside. Pair up one of those guys and throw mingo around the line as the wild card and we have the best pass rush in football.

You also can't rule out the fact that as much as we hate the guy Ben has made a career of escaping seemingly sure sacks. It's not just against us, the guy is just a big dude who is shifty enough to not go down. The pressure we got against him today would easily be 2-3 more sacks against lesser QB's, and was definitely encouraging. Agree on Kruger too, easily the best game he's had in a Browns uniform.

He was back there all day. You see them using the right guard to drop cheap shots on him while he was locked up with the tackle? It's good to see this. For 8m we'd better see this, or close enough to it, all season.

Ben was also the beneficiary of having at least 3 holding calls go unnoticed. Now I usually don't make a big deal of it, but when your line is collapsing the pocket and your backside DE is trying to spin off the tackle and getting an arm around his neck, I have an issue.
