Is Diles on the taxi squad or the regular roster?

Not sure :

In addition to dumping Tate, the Browns added depth to a defense decimated by injuries Tuesday by signing veteran inside linebacker Zac Diles, 29.

The 6-foot, 245-pound Diles spent training camp with the Browns this past summer. In his eighth-year NFL career, he has started 31 of the 70 games in which he has appeared. He appeared in one game with the Texans this season.

On Monday, Pettine said starting inside linebacker Karlos Dansby could miss “upwards of a month” with an injured left knee, and starting outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard might be out for the rest of the season with a bone issue in his left foot.

The Browns also re-signed nose tackle Jacobbi McDaniel to the practice squad and signed linebacker Scott Solomon to the practice squad. They released linebacker D.J. Smith from the practice squad.

Kind of infers regular squad, but it doesn't specify.

Diles has to be on the reg roster. He's an 8 year player, so he cant be on the practice squad.

Also just heard that Sheard does NOT need surgery and, therefore, is suddenly looking like he'll be back in a week, maybe 2.

Thats very good news

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet · 1h 1 hour ago Sheard actually has a chance to play this week RT @USAF_VETERAN_: @RapSheet always good to see players return to field #cowboysfan

Also, about LB Scott Solomon, I believe I saw somewhere that he played for Pettine before :

The team also signed Scott Solomon to its practice squad early Tuesday evening. The 26-year-old linebacker has played for the Titans, Jets, and most recently for the Buccaneers. Solomon saw action in six games for Tampa Bay this season, logging eight tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
