LogicIsForSquares
42,000 rounds of hollow point ammo. They qualify and retrain once a year (1,000 rounds) and they give the officers a 1,000 rounds to train with through the year. Not scary at all actually. To be a probation officer in WV, you are alotted the exact same amount of ammo.
LogicIsForSquares
I burn through at least 12k a year and there are guys who burn through even more than I do.

Well, I don't really practice but rarely when I have nothing else to do... probably should practice more.

LogicIsForSquares
Training "like crazy" isn't all that crazy if it is 2k rounds a year. They use 1k just at re qualifying and most of the employees end up sitting on the practice ammo they get. If they used some of the 1k rounds they are sitting on, they wouldn't have to burn through 1k rounds in a day to make sure they are still qualified. Probation officers get that kind of ammo in rinky dink counties and 9 out of 10 times a state trooper is called to do the actual apprehension. DieHardBrownsFan
Most Government Agencies have their own security/police force. The National Gallery of Art has armed 'Special Police' officers.
LogicIsForSquares
This seems like more of a sign of government waste than something sinister.
