THE BROWNS BOARD

Maurkice Pouncey could miss the entire season, will need surgery.

We will see. Wallace isn't Pouncey but I do expect him to be better than two years ago for reasons I've already stated. I think I've been pretty clear that it's a downgrade. That's obvious. That doesn't mean Shelton is going to have 3 sacks and 10 tackles. We'll have to wait and see.

Sure, he is a rookie.....and I suspect Mike Munchak will know how to game plan for a rookie DT, no matter how good his potential is nor how injured the OL is. It will take some time. Yes, the Steelers will likely run wide on the Browns. In preseason THaT is where it appeared that their weakness was in the run game. If the Browns are too strong up the middle, go wide. An appropriate strategy.

yep....he's earned 6 starts in 7 years.......wow!

where did I imply either of those things?....the real question is what are YOU talking about?.....Retard

First of all I don't know what Retard means. Please tell me. Secondly, it sounds like you've got your asshole hat on.

You: Though Id be happy to wager that Shelton handles your guy Cody....(easily too)...

You: Crystal ball says Danny Shelton will soon to meet the Rapist.......up close and personal.....

When you say that Shelton is going to handle Wallace easily it implies that Shelton is going to have a big game correct? Or does handling him easily mean he's going to to all Brady Quinn on his man parts?

If you can't comprehend figurative speech when you make open ended statements like that then maybe I should talk down a little more.

Pouncey's absence will be felt... that's not in doubt. Just have to look at 2013 to see that. Only questions are the depth and duration of the pain.

Retard means that you are a Retard. (or, as they say in German: verzogern) And while I wouldn't make any predictions on particular statistics....I will say that any time that Wallace were to go up against Shelton, particularly in pass protection, it will be part of a double team. I suggest you will rarely see a one on one matchup there.

I've watched both Browns games so far and I saw Sheldon bull rush a gap on the first play of the second game. Other than that nothing stood out. He's a big strong guy in a league of big strong guys. He's also a rookie and he's got a lot to learn like you said. He'll make a few plays here and there but if he handles Wallace "easily" like Mudflaps says I'll be right here to eat crow. Maybe Mudflap needs to explain what "easily" means.

Agreed. Why I'm not as down about it as some is this has happened before and the offense in general is just better than the last time. They have 3 weeks to prepare for the regular season unlike when it happened during week 1 the last time. Hey, I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first or last time. In my opinion they're better prepared to handle it. That's really all I'm saying.

we've already been without him for a season dip shit, our offense isn't your offense. Big injury but Cody Wallace should be fine.

LOL... Keep living in La La land Dexter.. Your team isn't going anywhere this year..Bank on it.. And even if Pouncey does come back.. It will take him the rest of the season to get back in NFL shape. You don't sit out for 2 months and just magically pick up where you left off.. Bet the stools will be drafting another center next draft because it appears Pouncey, is made of porcelain. .. Now run along back to your yogurt stand.... Dumbass!

There is a new Evan Moorecelain Doll in the NFL, and it is one of the Pouncey brother douches.

He's been rolled up on twice by guys over 300 pounds. It's bad luck, not his body failing. Good thing Cody Wallace is the best center in the nfl. You dicks should read what Mike Tomlin said after the game.

you could give me a 10 page essay of what tomlin says and i'd wipe my ass with it.

the days of just rolling in some DC as a HC for your team are almost over. from being a dominate aggressive defensive team to wearing pink skirts....great job tomlin!

It's a defensive rebuild and largely unproven at this point but j have a great deal of confidence this year's defense will be better than last years. What I do know is we don't have a team of wasted first round draft picks.

I think he means that on just about every play they go one on one Shelton would likely win that matchup.

But that is not how the game is played. Shelton does appear to be that good, but he will face double/triple teaming.

Which means that it may not seem like he is doing much....but he will be opening space for the other defenders.

That is what should/could happen.

I think the Steelers would have more faith in Pouncey being able to control the other teams NT (be it Shelton or anyone else) one on one then they would with his replacement in there. That is just natural.

That was part of the Browns problem last year with our OC.....he let Mack's replacement try to handle the same assignments on his own that Mack was to handle. It didn't work out so well and they just weren't up to muster.

It totally remains to be seen if Wallace?...is up to muster. I say they are going to try to give him a lot of help.

If Cody Wallace were the best center in the NFL....why then was he not starting ahead of Pouncey?

I don't see anywhere in that article where Tomlin even mentions Wallace's name....or said any such thing. Maybe you better copy and paste the quote....because I apparently missed it.

I don't get angry over the internet.

Right. You don't get angry. You just get stupid. ;)

Of course you have confidence in your team.....you entire life the Steelers have been good or gotten the breaks.

We could say that as well for most of 40 years of the Browns existance. But, you know, it don't always stay that way.

Yup... will change the scheme emphasis.

... it's not like they're suddenly going to play with 10 instead of 11.

But does not mean it will still be like playing with 11...

I followed perfectly. You gave a link to an article wherein you claimed that Mike Tomlin said that Cody Wallace was the best center in the NFL. ....and I call you on it to show where that statement was ever said.

Unless....you were trying to make a joke. If so, you are terrible at making jokes. Or I am terrible at discerning your dry sense of humor.

Gipper i thought we were passed the name calling? I was born in 82, the steelers have lost some in my day. However as it stands right now even with Pouncey down 8-10 weeks we should have the best offense in the nfl. The defense is full of young and promising players and we have a new defensive coordinator that should be able to infuse some new energy in the defense. Ben is still in his prime and will likely still play at a high level for another 4 or more seasons. Good teams don't go away over night, they plan and draft and rebuild, retool etc. There is nothing to indicate they are heading g for the gutter anytime soon. The gutter is usually restricted for teams that draft poorly. The steelers drafted poorly the last time they lost a bunch of games in consecutive seasons.

No I didn't. Read up in the damn thread man. It was a shot at another poster. I posted that article to highlight how Tomlin plans to address the injury.

Ben is in his prime?.. No!..Your in your prime by mid to late 20's.. not early to mid 30's.. Ben is winding down.. And by the looks of your O-line.. He may not be standing erect much longer and possibly even have his career shortened. You say the most idiotic things,,,

We lost our center for 8-10 weeks. The rest of the line didn't forget how to play and considering how they played last season I'm not too worried about it. Ben had the best season of his career last year CLEARLY he's on th downswing. Dumbass. Pretty sure munchak and the line will find a way to excel, they are professional athletes after all.

Riff I dont get worked up man. We used to get along. What happened? You getting too old and grumpy?

I hate Pittswad and their numbnutted fans even more than I did then, which is close to impossible. Columbus is not proving any less free of inbred as Akron was. Even my hometown of Ashtabula is inundated with Teeler homos and ugly chicks.

And yes, I used to get you worked up quite well cuz I didn't buy your BS.

Meanwhile, word is Pitt just picked up an extra long snapper and he is being lauded as the greatest thing since free porn and Ryan Pontbriand.

Gipper i thought we were passed the name calling?

I didn't call you a name.....I simply described your actions.

I was born in 82, the steelers have lost some in my day. However as it stands right now even with Pouncey down 8-10 weeks we should have the best offense in the nfl.

You should have a good offense.....but losing a key component can make a good offense into an average offense.

The defense is full of young and promising players and we have a new defensive coordinator that should be able to infuse some new energy in the defense.

OK Pollyanna, keep blowing fairy dust up your own butt. The Browns defense is full of more/better promising young players.....and your new DC hasn't proven anything other than that he can carry Dick LeBeau's clipboard.

Ben is still in his prime and will likely still play at a high level for another 4 or more seasons.

Theortically.....if he isn't running for his life or sitting on his can because the OC can't control the rush in his face.

Good teams don't go away over night, they plan and draft and rebuild, retool etc.

Actually, good teams CAN and do go away overnight. With one or two key components can cause a team to go into the tank.

E.G: 1989 Browns AFCN Champions, AFC title game appearance. 1990 Browns: 3-13

We don't have to go back that far: 2002 Steelers, Division champions.....2003 Steelers 6-10.

1998 San Francisco 49ers: 12-4, 16 straight years of double digit wins: 1999 49ers: 4-12

Planning, drafting, retooling, rebuilding is the key, eh? Isn't that what the Browns have been doing for 15 years now?

There is nothing to indicate they are heading g for the gutter anytime soon. The gutter is usually restricted for teams that draft poorly. The steelers drafted poorly the last time they lost a bunch of games in consecutive seasons.

And you have NO clue whether or not the Steelers have drafted well....or poorly the last several years. We thought we drafted mighty well when Weedon and Richardson were drafted.....not so much. Same with yinzers. Time will tell.
