gmp
Here's a thought... I believe the state of the Browns would a lot better off if the League just somehow took over this team...The Browns are actually hurting the brand of the NFL...This team is an annual sh*t dump and can't do anything right...They have had top draft picks for what? the last 15 years and still can't manage to assemble anything resembling an NFL franchise....this team doesn't even have any players worthy of a Fantasy Football team..after 15 years of top picks?...are you kidding me?...yet, years after year after year...the masses will pay the money, be promised a competitive team and fleeced for stadium seating, parking and everything else that goes along with Sunday's calamity.....It actually is boarderline criminal for what they are doing.....This team may win 1 or 2 games this year and feel real good about the draft pick they'll get in April...only to F*ck it up again....It's Groundhog year again people...same old, same ol, same old.... OldBrownsFan
No. You get some good people in place and give them enough time to get the job done. I don't see a merry go round of coaching changes and GM changes with the other teams in our division and that is the one difference with the Browns since 99 and always trying to chase after that elusive HC and GM who will turn it around. We need continuity. With the right people in place continuity will breed success.
gftChris
Seriously. We just had our best season in 5 years, avoiding double digit losses for the first time in that long. We had some low moments but we had some great moments (crushing the steelers and bengals for example). And after one game of the new season, people are bitching and whining? OldBrownsFan
This is all true but a huge majority of Cleveland fans only want to win now and aren't willing to allow success to breed and the ownership and front office seems to play to that audience. Too early to lay that charge on Haslam. I think Haslam knows he has some good people in place and showed it with Pettine after a disappointing finish to last season and Haslam being one of the first owners to show support to their HC. Clevfan4life
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that our realistically winnable games are pretty much now aren't they? Doesn't this schedule become horrible as the season goes on? Like after Oakland the only game I can't see us losing is against the 9'ers, that's practically Christmas. We might eek out a game or two against maybe the Chargers or Cardinals, albeit doubtful...but other than that where are the wins going to come against? Next week in Tn is no gimme either as it looks like Mariota ain't half bad, although that was Tampa he put one on. We needed these first couple games to make a halfway decent season of it. I was hoping we'd go 3-0 or at worst 2-1 to start the season, maybe we can still do that I dunno. Do that and play halfway respectable throughout the season and maybe we can hang our hat on something, but seriously did you see anything in the way they came out and played yesterday that says these guys were chomping at the bit to make a season of it? It's like they're already kind of phoning it in.

Tobalaz
I think the majority of the fans don't give a shit who is the coach, gm or qb so long as we can WIN A GAME and not get blown out of the water like a fish in a barrel. Well Tour- just the facts. http://www.foxsports.com/ohio/story/browns-set-nfl-record-in-season-opening-loss-091415 Eleven openers lost in a row- new NFL record. 16 out of 17. Welcome to Groundhog Day. Two winning seasons since 1999. I don't think it's unreasonable to start expecting better. Soon.
Mike H
Fans should buy team and sign Josh Lenz and Josh Cooper, trade for Brian Hoyer and then get Josh Cribbs back to return kicks. That's the ticket.

Opal312
It's coaching and new management. We will know more after a few games. But I sure don't think having Goodell take over is the answer. I hate that guy! We probably need an offensive coordinator and maybe better play calling. Instead of reaching for another journeyman QB, coach what you have! They need a better system on both sides of the ball. Use the 4-3 more and activate Gaines, Cooper and Bowe. Next year get a stud wide receiver and Ezekiel Elliot. How can anyone expect Manziel to perform without weapons. Every team has a weapon. Except us! Bengals AJ Green and Hill Steelers Brown and Bell Patriots Tom And Gronk Giants BeckhamJr Etc etc
BaconHound
Last season we won 2 games vs playoff teams, Bengals and Steelers. 5 other wins Saints 7-9 , Bucs 2-14, Raiders 3-13 , Titans 2-14 & Falcons 6-10. Viewed on this board as a step forward viewed by the rest of the NFL as predicting 5-11 for 2015-

BaconHound
I don't know? It's pretty hard to excuse his involvement in the Manziel issue if in fact he was involved. The Browns need to let the fans and media know that this mess can't be fixed overnight and that they have a system and a plan in place rather than trying to win today to please the fans. You really have no clue what you are talking about. In the last 16 years the Browns have on playoff game and two winning seasons. 11 times in 16 years they have won fewer than 6 games. The Steelers haven't come close to that ineptitude since the 1960s.

hoorta
Hoorta, there is no doubt that the fans have more than enough right to want to win but it really doesn't matter how much they want it or even deserve it. It just doesn't happen that way. You are correct- but this level of continual ineptitude in my book even surpasses the suckiness stretch of the Bungles a few years back. Even in the 70s- which I'm old enough to remember- at least the Browns pulled a few decent seasons out later in the decade in the Sipe- Newsome- Matthews years. Some of the younger fans aren't old enough to remember the last time the Browns put together back to back winning seasons.
hoorta
I know. But the simple bottom line is that when you combine the poor drafting, and the circus environment the limited talent team has to play in, it simply isn't going to turn around in a flash. All I am saying is that the history of the Browns has everything to do with the fans desires and everything to do with the size of the hole that must be climbed out of. Agreed. If this team should start out 0-3, or 0-4 it's going to get real ugly, real fast. If football is won in the trenches, having a great o and d line had better be the answer. BaconHound
Do you think I am not aware of the Browns ineptitude? What I get and you don't is that the Browns mess cannot and will not be fixed overnight. Ever. No team in such disarray will. Ever. Happens all the time, Andy Reid Chiefs most recent. Crennel makes the team a tire fire, Reid and Smith make them a playoff team.
