Don't think so jcam, but we shall see. Reality is we get more WR time with a prospect that intrigued us and our emergency QB to boot.

It's a good move by a desperate team. If something happened to Benjamin who do we have? Please don't say Hartline. Hartline can move the chains but two deep threats with Pryor is nice.

Now we need to get a kicker. The whole world was laughing at us last night.

As opposed to the whole world laughing at us for the last 15 years?

Benjamin has exceeded expectations but Julio Jones, Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, etc. he is not. If they had that "Josh Gordon" type to compliment him he would be closer to a TY Hilton.

The only ones not laughing at this team are those too stubborn to admit the team stinks

I have no issue with this signing.....though Im not really excited either.....

My cynicism is taking over I think, cause no matter what happens with Pryor, it leaves me feeling like somethings really wrong....

If he's great(which would be awesome).....then I wonder why the hell we cut him and kept the average to bad guys instead....

And if he sucks....then why did we resign him, when we(and a bunch of other teams) already knew he wasnt good enough????....

So....either way this goes.....it leaves me wondering(extra) about our personnel decisions.....

None the less.....Im curious.....lets have a look.....

i am with you on this. I feel something is really wrong..I'm wondering if they finally get rid of the 9 million dollar man in bowe. Christ, you wonder why this team is such a piece of shit and being made fun of on a daily basis. Good lord...

Good, they need to see him take the field and play.

Bowe is worthless, doesn't give a crap, and Farmer was

stupid to bait him with a 9 mill guarantee contract.

Seriously, that was really, really dumb.

Farmer is too arrogant and pompous to continue

as GM next year.

Yep, the 9mil$ man will create the 0mil$ GM by seasons end (hopefully).

There has to be a reason that no other team in the league wanted him. Hence I'm curious as to why some of you guys are so thrilled? Just the Homer aspect?

WSS

Me thrilled? nope. Once again the Browns need another qb on the roster at season's end. At least he knows the system but other than that.....pfffft!

Pretty much everything Mud said about Pryor. I would label myself as "curious", and that's about it. I have zero expectations for the guy. Like other people have said, if he had promise, wouldn't somebody else who is desperate give him a shot? And the kicker is, didn't the Patriots check him out? If they let him go, then he's not good, LOL. (just kidding...kind of)

Can he run decent routes? Does he get any separation? Can he actually catch the freaking ball? Does he play physically? He certainly looks like he COULD, but looks don't translate into being good. Ask Gilbert. Physically, that guy is elite. Unfortunately, it takes a lot more to be successful. I wonder if Pryor could operate in the middle of the field. Barnidge draws a little attention, and maybe that leaves a small void for Pryor against zone? I dunno...but my hopes certainly aren't up.

Has he ever returned kicks?

With Gilbert concussed, I might let him practice on the kick team and see if he could do it.

He knows the offense (at least he should, not the brightest bulb) so, that is a plus.

You make a good point.......but "we" want him because he is tall and fast.......and there is a dearth of that among the Browns WR corps.

And, sure....homerism as well.

Question for all y'all: What former QBs have actually made the transition to WR? Anyone? I can think of the two Kent staters: Cribbs and Edelman.

Who else?

WTF, why not. But I don't see him as being as tough as Cribbs was to handle kickoffs.

No.....I have maintained since preseason that they could use him as an all purpose player and two point specialist. Run/pass option....better than JMZ would be. He would be a much tougher runner....not like Cribbs, but tough enough for that.

What do the Browns have to lose?

Antwaan Randle El was QB at Indiana and I think Hines Ward used to play some QB too.

That's all I can think of.

C'mon Zombo. What part of trading your symbolic Gold Pants (given out for beating Michigan) for tattoos smacks of being a 'tard to you? And why would you thing "Saint" Tressel had a brain spasm when he thought he could cover it up?

You're not being fair!

Not detecting a lot of "homer". He did not exactly endear himself to Buckeye fans. But as Buckeye fans we all saw his athleticism.

As for other teams... a position switch at the pro level is a risky proposition. Even more so with Pryor since he is not PS eligible. Not sure how many other teams were in position to make such a commitment. Even us, with our "slight" WR crew, wasn't when midnight rolled around coming out of camp. Especially since he was injured much of camp.

Still we had the longest look at him at WR since we seem to have been the first team he told he'd switch.

El definitely. I don't know if Ward was a full time college QB or not.

But hell, the switch turned out pretty damn well for Ward....so there is an example.

Perhaps Pryor can become the Browns very own cheap shot artist? That could help keep him around as well, no?

I don't think Ward was a full-time college QB.

Back before blacks were considered to play QB in the NFL, there were a lot that swapped to other positions... especially WR and DB, some to RB.

Since "enlightenment" many still have. Most were running QBs in college.

Denard Robinson is a very recent example of a convert to RB.

One of the best converts of any era may Freddie Solomon who was a Florida QB (I think) before his WR days with SF.

Just out of curiosity I wanted to investigate Hines Ward and his switch. In 1994 Georgia recruited him as a QB, he moved to running back as a freshman, was moved back to quarterback as a sophomore, and threw for 413 yards in the '95 Peach Bowl. His junior and senior years were dedicated to the wide receiver position. Not even close to what Pryor is trying to do but the freak of an athlete he is we have reason to believe it can be done.

I thought it was a mistake to cut him and keep a non-productive superslow Bowe. Farmer too f'n proud to admit a mistake that ended up costing big $. Those two shots of Bowe unable to get open and then just standing on the sidelines says it all. I could haul a 2 step ladder around out there and get just about as open as he does, at just about the same speed too, turtle X's 2 and snail X's 10.

Maybe one of the things that gets Farmer farmed out. If the article in the Gilbert thread is accurate, another big black mark on his resume.

LOL, I was able to listen to WKNR Cleveland almost all the entire way on the drive home today, and they were yucking it up over fan suggestion endorsement deals Browns players\management could make..

The winner was Old Ray. "Hi, I'm Ray Farmer and if the drafts in your house are as bad as mine in the NFL, you need to call my friends at Universal Windows Direct today."

Honorable mentions- Cam Irving endorsing the Mattress factory, because he spends the whole game flat on his back.

Pettine for endorsing Two Men and a Truck. :)

Don't believe Pet wanted to expose Duke to any more injuries & became Gilbert's non drafted position to get him on the field. but got to believe it is either Duke or Benji on KR & Duke did all kick returns in Miami. Winston Get Ready!
