The Gipper
If the playoffs started today, here is who would be in: AFCE Patriots 12-2 #1 seed Clinched division AFCN Bengal 11-3 AFCS Texans 7-7 AFCW Broncos 10-4 Wildcards: Steelers 9-5, Chiefs 9-5 In the hunt: Jets 9-5 Questions for the AFC: 1. Who will win AFC South. Texans lead but Colts, even Jags not eliminated 2. Who will win AFC West. Chiefs now just one game behind Broncos. 3. Which 2 of the probable 3 WC contenders will make it: Steelers/Chiefs/Jets Note: Only NE and Cincy have absolutely clinced playoff spots. In theory Broncos could still lose playoff spot if they lose both of their remaining games.. AFCE: Redskins 7-7 AFCN: Packers 10-4 AFCS: Panthers 14-0 Cliched #1 seed and home field AFCW: Cardinals 12-2 Clinched division Wildcards: Seattle 9-5,Minnesota 9-5 In the hunt: Atlanta 7-7 Questions for NFC: 1. Who will win NFCE. Redskins lead, but both Giants and Eagles could still win 2. Who will win NFCN. Packers lead, but Vikings could still take it (or lose playoff spot altogether): 3. Can Falcons take Wildcard (need to win both and have Vikings lose both) Notes: Carolina, Arizona, Green Bay and Seattle have all clinched playoffs. The Gipper
The Playoff game matchups that would take place if the season ended now I believe would be: AFC: Steelers at Broncos, Chiefs at Texans Pats/Bengals with bye NFC: Seattle at Washington, Minnesota at Green Bay. Panthers and Cards with byes. The "Race" for the #1 overall seed: 1. Titans 3-11 2. Browns 3-11 Chargers/Ravens/49ers/Cowboys 4-10 Games between contenders this week: Redskins vs. Eagles important for NFCE race Patriots vs. Jets Important for #1 seed...and Jets WC chances Packers vs. Cardinals important for NFCN race Giants vs. Vikings important for NFCE race, NFCN race, Viking WC chances Bengals vs. Broncos important for AFCN race (Steelers could mathematically still win). Bengals bye. AFCW race, Broncos playoff chances. Panthers vs. Falcons important for Falcons slim WC chances Other games affecting playoffs: Browns atChiefs.....Browns win strikes blow at Chiefs AFCW title chances and WC chances. Steelers at Ravens. Ravens win strikes blow at Steelers AFCN chances and WC chances Colts at Dolphins. Dolphins win strikes potential death blow to Colts AFCS chances Texans at Titans. Titans win strikes blow at Texans AFCS chances Rams at Seahawks. Rams win could hurt Seahawks chances of being the #1 wildcard. (at worst they would be #2) Jaguars at Saints. Jags slim chance at AFCS title dashed with Saints win In reality, there are only 4 games that have nothing to do with the playoff race. They are only for "draft positioning"..and pride Chargers at Raiders 49ers at Lions Cowboys at Bills Bears at Buccaneers.
Opal312
And none of it matters because the Super Bowl will be Seattle (if they stay healthy) and The Patriots again. If Seattle can't get the running game going then the Panthers vs Patriots in the Super Bowl AFC WEST CHIEFS AFC NORTH BENGALS AFC SOUTH TEXANS AFC EAST PATRIOTS WILD CARD STEELERS, Broncos Final analysis Patriots go to Super Bowl NFC WEST CARDINALS NFC EAST REDSKINS NFC NORTH VIKINGS NFC SOUTH PANTHERS WILD CARDS GREEN BAY, SEATTLE FINAL ANALYSIS: Seattle or Panthers, depending on health of Players, Go to Super Bowl
