LOL not a Bernie fan but I respect him for being genuine (which is a trait I like even in people I disagree with) running against the most phony of the phonies Hillary Clinton.

It'd only take one term of Bernie to clear all that out. Can you imagine the number of executive orders if he had a republican congress?!

I think Bernie is wrong about socialism. I always agreed with Margaret Thatcher the problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people's money but no doubt Bernie believes in it and has not wavered.

The problem Sanders would have working with congress would be less of a problem that an independent would have if they ever won the presidency.

I believe that people and companies should pay the appropriate rate of tax, and that if they did there'd be a lot fewer problems with government debt.

I thought the United States has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world? Government debt could also be reduced by cutting out wasteful government spending. It seems obvious to me if we are taking in a record amount of tax revenue and the national debt continues to rise we have a spending problem and not a tax one.

It seems obvious to me if we are taking in a record amount of tax revenue and the national debt continues to rise we have a spending problem and not a tax one.

I understand there's massive wastage in the military. New fighter planes aside, even. Supposing you cut 10% of wastage from there, you've suddenly got an extra, what, $70bn to play with?

No doubt there's other areas as well. Someone donates a million to a presidential campaign here, gains a hundred million dollar contract there, that kind of thing. Also, cities paying for sports stadia is a bit off.

Also yes, you have a high corporate tax rate - around 40% or something. But the effective tax rate is ridiculously small, because companies like google declare that such a high percentage of their earnings come from places like bermuda and luxembourg (clearly not the case).

Under Trump's plan I'd pay $3000+ less per year in taxes than I do now  . Bernie's would have me paying over $1000 more per year.

I don't see how Trump's plan can be at all plausible without creating a massive deficit - likewise I wouldn't want to pay $1000+ more per year to get nothing new. I wouldn't mind it if they made all my student loans 0% interest and gave me primo government insurance, but I'm not sure Bernie's plan works that way.

I would have about $5k more under trump's plan...if I lived there and earned an equivalent salary.

And yeah, not sure how he plans to recoup the money. Suppose $3k per average joe? Something like 200m tax payers in the US? That's about $600bn per year less money.

When I worked with juvenile detention kids, we would have kids who were waiting to be put into placement (half way houses, fosters homes,etc.). The social workers and well intentioned folks of the world would always try to get our most fucked up kids (primarily kids with sexual abuse histories) into foster homes and adopted out. They thought those kids were always mistreated in stepdowns and halfways houses by the criminal kids due to "past discretions".

So they would create these adoption ads with little Billy Child Rapist holding a soccer ball or something with a big write up. We would always laugh at the write up because if you could decipher through the horse shit you could see how fucked up the kid is. "Billy needs to be in a home with older kids who can teach him how to be in a loving family". Translation: Older kids he can't pin down and rape. "Billy has had negative experiences with animals that make him nervous so his new forever home needs to consider this". Translation: He fucks Fido.

Holy shit. Lol
