Only 2 teams lost a SB but came back to win it the next year: 1970 Cowboys/1971 Dolphins. So, that feat hasn't happened in 45 years B. Five SB losers came back to lose again the next year. Three times this was the 1990s Bills. The others were the 86 Broncos, and the 1973 Vikings. C. 5 teams came back to lose in their Conference title game...including recent Pats/49ers teams. D. 16 teams lost in the Divisional round games the following year. E. 7 teams lost in the Wild Card round F. 14 teams did not make the playoffs at all the following year. Half of those since 2000. It appears that the Super Bowl loss hangover is much more astute in more recent years.

And the pursuit of big money through Free Agency.....players on SB teams seem to get elevated and their value exaggerated more than ever....and the big $$$, coupled with less loyalty(by teams & players), means they move to the big bucks and their teams cant keep and pay them all....so, adios.... Old school championship teams kept their players year after year.....doesnt happen any more....times a changin...
gumby73 Posted February 9, 2016 Report Posted February 9, 2016 Sounds in Carolina sports radio are. Tag or deal on FA Josh Norman & KK Shorts. May cut ties with Jarrett Allen ($$). After the sorry OT performance by Remmers & Blindside Oher, they may cut some old vets to make a move for OT FA M. Schwartz. The Analytics boys need to move the pen..

Bottom line: Carolina's chances of going back to the Super Bowl next year come out to about 10-15%. Chances of winning about 4%.....or probably less.

After the sorry OT performance by Remmers & Blindside Oher, they may cut some old vets to make a move for OT FA M. Schwartz. The Analytics boys need to move the pen.. Norman will get re-signed for sure and Allen is gone, no way the Panthers pay him 8.5 mil but maybe he will restructure. Shorts is a good candidate for the franchise tag, he had a great Super Bowl but hasn't risen to elite status yet. Their top pick has to be OL and CB in that order.
Clevfan4life Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Allen will restructure. He knows this is his last stop. Staying on this team at least he has the potential to be a part of an historically good defense. Bottom line is they need to keep the entire defense. Offensively it's hard to say. Yeah the OL got blitzed by Denver but they handled business all year. Still if they can upgrade then upgrade. The only real area of need I see on the panthers team is at WR. They need to get someone that truly scares defense's.

Pumpkin Eater Posted February 11, 2016 Report Posted February 11, 2016 They need ol and should probably look for Stewart's replacement.

Running back shouldn't be a problem for basically any team, given how easy it seems to be to pick up scrubs in free agency or the end of the draft, *if* your scheme and coaching is good.
